I feel like I have cut my teeth enough on faction warfare and piracy with my main now and I have got the nerve and funds to finally make a move into nullsec to try something new. All I know of nullsec comes from reading and a few day trips I made on roams so I'd like to ask a few questions from more knowledgeable vets out here.
1. I currently have red-frog deliver most of my daily needs in ships/equipment, but living in sov. space that will no longer be possible. What is the usual method of resupplying in nullsec? Do corporations supply there local markets or should I be looking into getting a jump freighter or carrier alt to keep myself stocked?
2. I prefer to fly covert ops and do a lot of scouting for my lowsec gang. Is this also a desirable role in larger fleets or should I be looking into another more generic role? I realize fleet commanders probably would not trust a new pilot to be their eyes and ears, but my weapon skills are limited at the moment as I specialized in frigates and destroyers.
3. I read a lot of blogs about the war in delve and fountain, but I don't know much about other regions of nullsec at present. Are there any note-worth regions or alliances outside of this warzone?
Thanks for your help. |

Hi there,
I assume from your post that you are looking to move to a currently established 0.0 alliance - so I will reply with that assumption in mind.

This really depends on the group that you end up joining. Some corporations assist their new members to move their assets out to the 0.0 staging system by providing free/paid logistics or scouts depending on the amount of ships you were looking to move. In most cases Alliances will have their own logistics chain that you can use. There are also trade hubs in 0.0 that you can purchase ships/modules - they are perhaps not as well stocked as high-sec but generally you would be able to find most things you will need in 0.0.

This really depends, again on the alliance/corp you opt to join. In general terms for larger operations (CTAs) Alliances tend to have fleet doctrines they like to run. However, I envisage that corp-level ops or smaller alliance ops may be more flexible in allowing you to fly any type of ship whilst you train up for whatever the alliance doctrine is.

It depends what you mean by 'warzone', but I would continue encouraging you to read blogs and relevant eve forums to find out more information on the hotspots in 0.0 at the moment.
Hope this helps. |

If you end up based in NPC null then black frog will still be an option, iirc, though I can't quote you the rates and I assume they'd be significantly higher than the empire lot. Most established alliances are going to have extensive logistical backbones so if you end up in a corp that's affiliated with a major bloc this should be a non-issue.
Having said all that, I can't remember what life was like before I had a carrier, but I'm sure it sucked. Just make sure you get some test server practice with your carrier and cyno alts before you go whelping your first billion in front of your new mates.

I'd say train for a dictor if you can't fly one already. Nobody says no to a dictor pilot and odds are you'll be flying on the corp dime. It's a nice gig if your clone costs aren't exorbitant.

The drone regions and providence are the two places I would avoid. Everywhere else usually has something going on although you're on the money with the west being hot right now as pretty much everyone with a jump drive has piled into fountain this week.

Trying to live in unfriendly sov space is a big jump from low sec. Try moving to some NPC null sec first.
If you want to go where the action is, Fountain has a small pocket of NPC space where you can dock and resupply around Serpentis Prime. There's also Curse, Syndicate, and a few others.
The market is usually overpriced so you may want to get a carrier just for hauling stuff.
