My work is getting me one of these and I am curious if anyone has used one to play EVE and if its a viable platform for it? |

There were a few youtube videos out when it launched. It does run, but not especially well. You probably wouldn't want it as your primary system or for large fleet ops, but as a check up or for mining, it'd be fine. DirectX 11, it's not rocket appliance! |

This is why Apple and Google have already lost, in the end, cool as they are, they are toys, no real applications run on them, only "toys" from the App Store or Market.

They "lost" nothing, most people are sheep and enjoy toys. Barely anyone knows what an "application" even is. There you go. Making money in a nutshell. |

I don't think making bucketloads of money and being adopted for pretty much everything really counts as GÇ£lostGÇ¥. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

EVE won't be the prettiest on the Surface Pro, but with the proper settings (Medium, lower resolutions) EVE will run fine. |

I've found it runs surprisingly well. You can actually run everything fairly high except shadows. |

Yea, no. They may be toys as you say, but they have toy price tags on as well. The surface pro is a very expensive piece of kit. "In the age of information, ignorance is a choice." |

EVE sucks on a touch screen, they'd have to seriously dumb down the game to make it playable.
Your desire for EVE gameplay is not lost, google EVE-VR or is it just EVR **** if I know but it is in one of the most reccent DEV blogs, it will be a "catch all" for VR players and touch screen players as it will offer simplified controls and VR support.
Win win Win. Just wait until 2016! One of the oldest mission players in EVE designed a chart that explains stat priority in regards to mission running, compared Alpha, DPS, Ship Speed and Sig Radius and scores them. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m24dbrfuWn1r86ax8o1_1280.jpg |
