Hello to my fellow pilots
I'm curious to know your thoughts about pirating in eve online?
Are you a pirate? If so what is that makes you enjoy killing and destroying The innocents?
If your not a pirate and dislike them what can you do to get revenge On the pirates that ruined your day? They seem to all hide and come Out when an easy kill jumps through the system.
What are your thoughts on this matter? |

Respect.
Nope not a pirate. I sell war goods mainly, so pirates are one part of my customer base.
I am not really sure what being "innocent" has to do with the random number generator of being a random victim of a crime? "Innocent" people are killed everyday in RL, not sure what your point is here?
Not a pirate, don't dislike them or any other profession in EVE, but the standard way of seeking revenge in EVE for whatever is to kill them or pay to have them killed repeatedly....
My general thoughts about pirates in EVE is neutral in the good vs evil paradigm, but I LOVE player interaction because without it, I could not rake in the profits from marketing like I do.

I'm not a pirate by any means, but I can understand the pirates being part of the game, its really no different from the tall ships pirates days that preyed on merchant ships. They also preyed on easy marks, generally they left alone the ships that has a escort or too many guns. Pirates is part of the risk of Eve. and something you just have to live with. |

The issue of Pirates preying only on the week was summed up for me by Abssm years ago...
PVPers look for the fight
Pirates look for the profit.
No profit in losing your ship.
Piracy can be a profitable occupation with the right corp. As for revenge Pirates by their nature will do all they can to avoid being caught, but there are ways. Scammers are currently selling killrights on this toon for up to 5mil, if you have paid for this service demand your money back at once.
Killing me should be for free. |

I began a rather basic guide (that sadly I have neglected to due time and rl matters) here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2329145#post2329145
Again it is very basic but does help for newer players. In response to your post yes I am what would be considered a Pirate. As far as killing "innocents" I hardly see anyone as truly innocent in Eve. Eve is a rather ruthless universe and environment quickly requiring you to develop tenacity or at least common sense to some degree.
However Piracy to me is actually about Freedom in a sandbox and fun just as much as it is about power over your victim and lust for it. I don't answer to anyone (save for those who are like minded in seeking devilish delight from our victims) and not being part of a bigger entity such as say Goonswarm, TEST, etc just to name a few where you are just a grunt and fodder for a few Elite is always refreshing.
Being a Pirate, you tend to fight in smaller numbers or often outnumbered which can be exhilarating and quickly meld you into a tenacious player realizing your role in fights ever more important. Piracy requires you to have a very broad understanding of mechanics, how to read a field quickly and how to adapt to it.
That to me makes Eve more enjoyable than say fighting in a bigger entity. Personal play style or whatnot it's very fun. You quickly gain a close knit relationship with people you fly with since combat tends to be more intimate and you realize your survival depends upon them just as much as their survival depends upon you.
It's quite beautiful in a sick twisted way.
I've come and gone since 2004 and the one thing I can honestly say is Piracy is fun. It's challenging, difficult, sometimes wants you to pull the hair out of your ballsac but it's fun. Oh and don't please don't assume Pirates are "Elites" we are far from it. Actually I'm quite the terrible player so just ignore this entire post. |

Pirate checking in, also confirming that I'm pretty bad at this game.
Quite simply piracy is about the most fun you can have in Eve. There's no restrictions on what you do, or when you do it. You'll make a lot of close friends, and of course you'll be counted as a mortal enemy to some. Piracy really becomes a great choice when you can make ISK doing what you enjoy - not conforming to the monotoney of missioning, or plex grinding, or other PVE content (if you can call it that.)
Best part, SP isn't as much a hinderance as some would have you believe. You can start pirating at a very early age, and do well at it. Very simple to get started at, and you will find in the long term you'll have a very enjoyable Eve career. |

We can be bad at this game together! *holds hands and skips*
I rather agree though on making close friends. There are people I haven't flown with in literally years that showed up today for a good fight (which was a delight to see ^_^) and you still run across people you like and even mutually respect despite if you fight along side or against them. |

Is anyone truly innocent? I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous. |
