Hi, I'm now in my trial period but after that I'm deffinately subscribing. However, I have this problem with my destroyer ( Gallente Cathalyst ). I allways thought a destroyers could... you know KICK @SS... but everytime I approach some enemies ( that I pretty easyly killed with my frigate ) my ship gets alot of dmg before I can ever fire... Is this just my lack in skill, lack in range on guns ( using <1000m optimal range guns ).
Than another thing, what is the best guntype when you're just starting out with your new destroyer?
Problem is now I've spend all my money on the damn thing and I can't do military missions and no transports around! AHH!!

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 24/11/2005 17:48:23 The biggest problem with destroyers is that they have large sig radii, taking lots of damage, but can't really tank it.
This is why putting blasters on a destroyer is absolutely insane.
Try to put some 150mm or 125mm railguns on that with medium or long range ammo, not blasters - Proud member of the [23].

you should have 125mm or 150mm railguns on that. fit what ammo you like, i have what is it 7 or 8 125mm rails on one and it kills rats at 25km not 1km.(what are fit now?) even with antimater you should get 8-10km range. Born Free will fight and Die Free.....and Die and Die and Die...

On mission go for 125 mm with antimatter, or Iron if you're poor on skill
on belt train yourself with Ab and blaster, catalyst a fine ship but go for armor tanking, don't be afraid to lose your shield, your armor tank :)

use Tungsten or Iridum for ammo (In you 125mm railguns)... Iron seems to be suicide compared (though the stats doesn't really tell) - antimatter makes range bad so only use it against structures or very weak enemies... In my Caldari Cormorant destroyer I had 6 125mm railguns (different quality, 3 with tungsten and the 3 best with iridum) and 1 light launcher (had no cap for the last slot) - worked like a charm on lv1 missions from 6-18km and even beat up lv2 frigs when I could keep them at range...
The destroyers are slow frigs with lots of guns!! Very efficient when targeting multiple frigs/drones - dont let them come close and newer get warp-jammed...
