I have around 13.5 million isk right now, still around 55 million more for a drake + decent fitting. Should I just grind L2 missions at around 1.8 million isk per hour (around 37 hours of straight mission grinding to reach my goal) or should I do something else?
Also, when I do L2 missions, should I just blitz or try to kill the rats?

Well there's 2 ways to do it if you wat to run missions do the whole thing for bounties or run them for lp which you can trade for items and sell for Isk. It's been a long time since i seriously ran missions but I know implants usually sell steadily mainly +3s & +4s, but you can still cash in lp even if you run missions for bounties. Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if your in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. |

Not trolling, but do keep in mind that flying that Drake without sufficient support skills will see it get blown up rather easily, and if you have a save for a long time to get it, you won't be able to replace it easily. |

I have most support skills at 3, by the time I have a drake the majority will be 4. |

Can I second what lollerwaffle said. I would suggest spending the money that you already have on a good solid cruiser. Sorry I am Amarr only, so don't know what the Caldari version of the Maller is.
But a good simple to fly Cruiser will let you solo almost all level 3 missions, and that way you will see your isk flow grow a lot bigger. Once BC's used to be just cruisers that have been force fed steroids, but the class has evolved some and needs a bit more finesse today, to fly well and get the most out of them |

there are lots of options for making ISK including selling PLEX. if you invest some time and elbow grease, you should be able to come up with a better method than grinding lvl2 missions. (for example, google michi's excavation augmentor)

From what I've picked up so far if you need to save for something then it's probably a bad idea to undock from a station with it. |

Saving up for the ship implies that youre going to be pretty skint after the purchase. Be very careful about flying that ship until you have the cash to replace it a couple of times. Dont sell off assets to get new ones. If you lose the new stuff, your shafted if you dont have a fallback.
Personally, I would consider some high-sec scanning in a smaller ship to see if you can strike lucky on a couple faction modules or something. Run a few Anomalies or easier combat sites, if the loot gods smile on you you can rake in over 100mil from an easy combat site while flying a frigate/destroyer sized vessel.
I did it in an Algos on my main (he had the drone skills to eventually complete a Serpentis Phi-Outpost DED4/10), but would say its still doable in a well fitted Corax or Cormorant if you fly it right |

Personally I use a Caracal for L2's and even some L3's and I also carry 2 salvage drones and kill everything...don't knock grabbing salvage as at your stage it can help quickly build up your isk balance.
Don't forget mining either, even a basic fit Venturer will bring in more than L2's. Just mix them both to get a bit of variety.

Every last new pilot who doesn't "plex it" tends to save for their first "bigger" ships. This is extremely common and they do tend to fly things they can't really afford to lose - as in "easily replace".
First BC, first BS... Those tend to be very expensive and something they have to save for but they also tend to earn that value back fairly fast if they do lose it.
As for the OP:
Save up running the missions. Clear them - the bounties tend to be around half your income and LP earnings are extremely trivial for the lower end missions so "blitzing" won't help much.
Don't sell your cruiser to buy the BC. Keep it. If something happens, you won't be climbing back into a frigate to try and earn back up.
Level 3's are a fairly big step up from level 2's - both in income and difficulty so be cautious about what you do when you first start to do them. Be prepared to warp out early in fights until you have banked up enough to "afford to lose it".
Better to warp out and come back than to lose your ship when it means climbing back into a smaller ship that can't really handle the better income missions. |

Take some risks with things you can afford to loose and either take a trip to .1 and .2 systems to look for the expense clone soldier tags in the belts or fit up a tech I scan boat and look for a backdoor wormhole to null sec to find data/relic sites. Don't do WH relic/data sites they still have sleeper rats.

Here's an idea if you do grind missions...
Step 1) Create market buy orders in your mission hub for the locally-produced salvage and meta-4's. Step 2) advertise to salvagers that you're running missions and will sell your site locations when finished for a low price. Determining the right price could take some research or spreadsheeting, or just lowball it to attract takers. Step 3) Grind missions, save the bookmarks, sell the bookmarks. Step 4) After you have enough m3 to fill a hauler's hold from passive market buys, haul the results of your buy orders to the local trade hub.
Grinding is one way to make money... But investing your money to make it work for you is more productive, and is not SP-limited. |

I'd forgotten about some of the selling stuff.
Find lowsec threshold systems - highsec side. Put up pricy shuttles & warp core stabs for sale there.
They tend to sell even being "over priced" a bit. It seems pods returning from "oops..." and those heading in going "forgot..." will stop and buy such things at these systems vs "go to Jita" - for some odd reason.
I made a bit doing this really early on. |

And in the pursuit of said tag he will (probably) lose what little isk he has replacing ships and be left destitute.
So my last advice would be go buy a venturer, a couple of drones and mining lasers (just in case).

whatever you do mining is the wrong choice. I dunno 1.8m/hour seems low, but hey very well could be lv2 income, I haven't don them in a while. I just remember when I did run them I could afford my drake about the same time I could fly it (and not even well) maybe I have a large tolerance to grind?
taking a cheap ship into lowsec you can learn a lot, although I suppose you could also get frustrated and throw your monitor out the window. although you shouldn't do that second one as you should be prepared to lose the ship. although I can totally see someone getting some fat loot and coming back and getting it all blown up right before they get back.
caracal can probably deal with most level 3 missions now, I know I ran a few with mine years ago when I had awful missile skills, and before they did the cruiser rebalance. should be able to kite pretty well with one. You can trust me, I have a monocole |

Yeah, don't try to "get back" to anywhere but the closest station to put your phat lewt on the market. The security tags actually have a better chance of selling high there especially the ones used to go from -10 to -4.5.
As far as getting blown up? Yep, it'll happen. The question really is do you want to have an exciting time earning the Drake while learning and meeting people or do you want to grind red crosses and rocks until you go braindead? |

If you enjoy missioning, carry on with it and work your way up to level 3, and eventually level 4 missions. Level 2 mission income is .... not exactly brilliant; but it's a necessary step on your way through the agents offers.
Unlike a career like mining, nearly all the skills you train while doing missions can be applied to other in-game activities such as factional warfare, wormhole living, incursion running (very good money here) or even PVP if you ever get interested in that (you totally should, its great!).
By the time you are on your way to level 4 missions you should be sat proud and happy in your Drake. While normally you need to worry about support skills to make the bigger ships work efficiently (ESPECIALLY true for battleships), the Drake's passive tank can be fitted effectively for mission running even by low skillpoint pilots. It's one of the main appeals of the ship for PVE purposes.
Overall, have fun in Eve. Take on board what people say but NEVER EVER let them tell you you are "doing it wrong". There are too many blind sheep with no imagination here.

Well, on the other side, I wouldnt be so sure. The best income I've ever had were incursions pre-Inferno, 10 mil ISK / 5 min in a damn BC (or was it BS?) is something I am sure I will never reach again. And that's highsec stuff. |

I agree with that Lady who Spanks , if you're having fun play it your way, a way you can get some isk'es lined up quickly is to be somewhere lvl 4 missions are being done and ask, simply ask if there are any missioner's who's lvl 4 you can salvage.
A few of those and you will get that shiny pretty quick.
Small investment;
1. Algos (Gallente destroyer) 2. Buy all tractors for hi. 3. Buy 5 salvage drones and the rest of the m3 space for drone whatever floats your fancy. 4. Cargo hold expanders for low. 5. Best shield tank you can for mids and don't forget a microwarp or afterburner (helpful when wrecks are spread out) 6. Cargo rigs or shield rigs you choice.
With this setup I make very good secondary income from my lvl 4's.
Forget the fancy 80 isk dedicated salvager boat for now, forget the name....anyway try it you'll like the low cost and hi return of a cheap salvager setup. |

How much you make will become secondary to having fun. Think of it more in terms of investment versus potential rewards. Doing missions to earn some dough in an easy way is cool but try these when you get bored...even a Navy Raven in a level 4 mission is still just red crosses and wallet blinks.
How to make isk in null sec as a newbro lookin' for riches?
#1. Learn d-scan and get your overview set up.
#2 Train for exploration (probe scanning in a scan bonus frigate), archeology (try for level 4 as some null sec mini-games are hard) and a tech I cloak.
#3 Go exploring for wormholes and relic sites. When you find a wormhole use the "show info" option and the pop up will have general information of how long it will be there, if it has been disturbed by ships passing through it and where it goes. I wouldn't suggest wormhole diving in w-space for more exits to null yet but once you are comfortable go for it. Right now you are looking for direct WHs to null...look in low sec I get them pretty regularly there.
#4 Once you find one jump in and BOOKMARK THE WAY BACK HOME. DO THIS FIRST!!! You are now in null sec. Check local and if no one is there ring the bell and take the relics. It's really that easy. Take a quick look at how to avoid bubbles and have a ride around to the other systems. Once you have enough loot to make you ask the question "I wonder if it's time to leave"...leave.
#5 Profit.
On a side note: If you should jump in and see a bunch of mining barges on scan and 5 people in local cloak up and just sit quiet. They will be more scared of you than you are of them. When they ask you to leave make them pay a fine in whatever amount you wish...I would suggest around 500mil. (Being a gaybird miner in null is a fine-able crime btw)
How to gather security tags?
#1 Learn d-scan and get your overview set up
#2 Fit a pvp frigate or destroyer with an active tank. (has an armor OR shield repairer). Here's a sample fit but read the first comment about the rigs.
#3 Set destination to a .1 or .2 system and take a ride through low sec warping to the belts AT RANDOM RANGES. Don't warp to zero. When you find a clone soldier rat have a look at local and make the call if you think it's worth the risk.
#4 If you get bothered or run into another new guy killing your rat shoot that muthafucker!...just not with loot in cargo. One clone trainer rat (the lowest bounty ones in .4 systems) will pay 1mil on the bounty alone not counting the tag.
Good Luck o7
