More curiosity than anything else. The refining arrays are hard capped at 75% efficiency regardless of skill. I'm guessing its not possible for the array to determine the persons ability.
But why couldn't they allow the array to refine compressed blocks at 100%. Makes more sense, and at one point a skilled rorqual pilot would have been involved (they'd get more use too).
Curious as to why though. |

Wild guess: to encourage pilots to use outposts where they have to pay a tax. |

Except it does determine the pilots skill. It is capped at 75%, not locked at 75%
And I would also guess CCP didn't want them used instead of stations and outposts. But honestly even at 100% given the time it takes to refine (vs immediate at stations) people would still only use them when absolutely necessary. |

Then why lock it to 75%. Seems like one "massive" tax. I was told by a friend that if the refinery was able to refine at 100%, the rorqual would become somewhat obsolete. That's why I wondered why CCP couldn't set the refinery to refine base ores up to 75%, but compressed ore at 100% (its a little odd but fixes a few issues) It would make the rorqual a near necessity then for refining ores at a refinery.
It's a odd question though, and we have just some assumptions but no real reason. |

Seems like a needless logistical hoop to jump through. |

And yet people do it instead of refining locally, making mining an essentially untaxable activity for corps/alliances. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

Never understood it either. The pg/CPU on it is pretty large too so it's not like a free thing.
Don't see why they don't just change it to allow 95%/100% with max processing skills and implant. Not very practical but if you wanted to use it, you could. Maximze your Industry Potential! - Get EVE Isk per Hour! |
