I've asked around and it seems to be possible, some people say they've done it but are cloudy as to how they've done it
I have 3 monitors - two on a Radeon 9600SE, the other on a nVidia 5200FX ...
is there any way to make eve span over two or all three monitors at the same time?

Span other all 3 no way as it's 2 different cards. But you should be able to span it over the 2 screens on the radeon.
Not sure what options there are in ati drivers but on nvidia you can set different modes like clone, span and dual view. In this case what you would want is spanning. If you have them set as primary and start the game you should in graphics options get the full spanning resolution as on option.

well, thing is - I can span my desktops to all three perfectly fine ... no problems there
i somehow need to tell the eve client that it is to use two monitors instead of just my primary one ...

Edited by: Gothikia on 29/11/2005 16:43:30 AFAIK, multiple monitors using the same window is possible in the upcoming DirectX10. Weather EVE will support those features is a different story. Your talking about massive rewrites of parts of the engine, if you want two seperate windows and not have EVE spanned, which i think would be worth it. But it is unfortuantly not going to happen for at least another year or two in EVE. If at all... -- Gothikia |

Edited by: Destructor1792 on 01/12/2005 23:00:42 you can span across multiple monitors but only in windowed mode.
All monitors must be set to the same resolution, & you'll have to add a custom screen resolution size in your settings
Takes a bit of messing about to get it right, but it does work
Unfortunately, it won't work in fullscreen but as they say, with DX10 on the way, it may well soon be possible

Yes it can work in fullscreen, it did for me and it took me 5 minutes to make it work with no messing with the prefs.ini file
to the OP: you can get eve to work in fullscreen stretched over both monitors on the 9600SE card by disabling the Nvidia card + monitor.
or if you stretch those 2 monitors on the ati card(1 and 2), and expand the desktop to the nvidia monitor (3), so instead of having it like this --------- | 1 2 3 | as to where the desktop is spanned/stretched across all three monitors --------- you'd get something like this ----------- | 1 2 | 3 | where monitor 1 and 2 act as one, and you have the 3rd monitor extra ----------- so you can watch a movie there or something while playing eve
then you could in theory run eve in window mode with a correct resolution to "span"the 2 monitors you stretched on the ati card (you might need to tweak the prefs.ini in case eve doesnt recogniez the new resolutions), and the you'd have the 3rd monitor clear for chatting or web browsing or whatever you'd like (even a second eve client could run there) (and you could even run 3 eve clients on all 3 monitors but I doubt you'd want that =)
you can get eve to work spanned out between monitors in full screen on the ati card, as I have done it myself (just check the topic I created) but its gonna be "ugly", at least its not pretty in my occation, might be a different story for you if this works

Edited by: MAESTRO MAGNUM on 21/10/2007 10:04:30 Im using 3 monitors 1600x1200 connected to 2 videocards nvidia 7900 gs. that gives 4800x1200 total resolution. What i can do:
- have 3 screen wide 2d applications where nonlimited window stretching is allowed (example Ms Excel)
- set 2 monitors connected to 1 card to work as one (doubledesktop) - reach the resolution in eve of 3200 x 1200 is possible.
AND what is interesting then - eve remembers the 3200x1200 resolution even when monitors are set separately then.
and i can move the 3200x1200 window through ALL THREE screens.
so the point is: if somehow you set in eve-client the 4800x1200 window it will be possible to play in this resolution full TRIPLE MONITORS on 2 graphic cards (even QUAD MONITORS) in a window mode.
So.... Does anybody have any Idea how to do it? how to set a totally custom free resolution in eve window?

I don't think it's possible to run hardware accelerated graphics over multiple graphics cards without SLI mode.
Meaning, you need a triplehead graphics card or you need to stick to running on two monitors (or getting a crappy framerate). EW Guide - KB Tool - My Music |

as far as i understand it's also not possible to do this with sli with multipe monitors on multiple cards, because if you use the output of both cards they can't work in multi-gpu-mode. its every card for itself
SLI Faq Readme for linux nvidia-drivers
Quote: When in multi-GPU mode, SLI currently supports one monitor
let's all hope that will change

Best way to run Eve in my opinion:
http://www.stardock.com/products/multiplicity/
Lets you have multiple computers and mouse between them as if they were extended desktops. The advantage is that separate machines do not take the performance hit that running multiple clients on a single machine would.

Actually what we need is the ability to turn EVE into a 'windowed' application. So that all 'in game' windows are actually 'native windows' windows. All the things that pop-up should be system windows. then you can have all the clutter on another screen. Market, chats, ... and map of course. -- R, U, Y are letters...
