Car broke down and I discovered that the outer tie rod got seperated from the steering knuckle. The rubber boot was torn and its rusty as hell, so I had to find a way to reattach it with a new rubber boot, but I would need a shop press. So in order to make the thirty mile drive home, I took a roll of duct tape and a hose clamp and strapped that bad boy together and drove home. Made it home with no troubles and the Matari patchwork job I did is holding very firmly still. This only reinforces my decision to get the Minmatar symbol tattoo asap.
Any other makeshift fixes involving the silver tape of the gods? |

I approve this style of high quality home repairs.
Back in the days of TV antennas to get a good picture, my father and i with the use of much eletrical tape, swearing, arguing, and the possible yet unproven use of the cat as a static attractor, taped the antenna in the most ghetto fashion to get a very good picture.
I wish i had a photo as its so hard to describe. The antenna was slightly free of the wall and mounted against think Styrofoam backing and parts were also wrapped in Styrofoam as well for insulation. It looks awful, especially as at the time our living room had flowery wallpaper.
But it did the job, and thats what matters to a Matari soul.

I had a bonnet (hood) catch give out on me at about 60 MPH in the outside lane of a dual carriage way. It flipped up and covered the windscreen which made moving to the shoulder quite difficult, managed to get it off the road and broke out the toolbox. 2 large strips of military grade duck tape, (known as gaffa tape here, and the military stuff is either black or olive green), placed on either side of the offending article and some 3 core electrical cable hooked into the hasp sorted it right out. Lasted for 3 months before I repaired it properly, got to love oldskool cars you can generally repair them with a couple of spanners, 2 screwdrivers, a hammer and some tape.

Take it a step farther by using carbon fiber tape and a propane torch to melt it in place. Good luck ever opening the hood ever again. |
