I am posting today is because I am a bit disappointed with players sometimes being too vocal in the game forcing CCP making some U-turns from making the game better.
Some casual gamers like me do like the idea of having 3D characters moving about, do more like fighting inside ships, stations or planets because it adds a new dimension to the game other than a spinning ship. Sadly, this is not going to happen.
Also as a casual gamer, I am also looking forward to ideas of exchange stores where I could actually buy stuff directly from CCP to enrich and allow me to level myself to other gamers who can afford to spend more time playing the game. For me, the lack of time causes me to have severe difficulty in developing my characters forward. Micro transactions is a good idea that addresses this issue to casual gamers like me. I don't mind working hard in real life and making money so that I can spend a bit to level up in game. Sadly, the reverse is unacceptable and also irresponsible. Now, that is also not going to happen and it puts a huge obstacle for gamers like me. We have to pick to either succeed in real life or in Eve life.
These are all good ideas and sadly, they are taken away. It is issues like dealing with the vocal minority or bitter vets sometimes is killing the game. I don't blame them because players especially old players are being too rigid or conservative and cannot accept changes whether it may be good or bad. It is human nature because they are used to that something. If Eve started with 3D characters and micro-transactions, we will not have such conversation today as it is accepted from day one.
I also don't think CCP has done anything wrong in making decisions to make the game better but sadly the playerbase is as rigid as ever and changes are never accepted or welcome whether they are good or bad. So I cannot accept any apologies from CCP especially from the CEO that I think has done a good job and nothing wrong. Maybe the micro transactions proposal could have been presented in a better way. All I can say is hopefully, whatever decision CCP is going to take from now on is going to be the right one and keep up the good work. I know where my responsibilities lie in real life.
I do hope CCP can reconsider some of the awaited features that can add value to the game for some of us who are interested in them but sometimes crippled because the lack of time but still want to enjoy the game. Features like having proper 3D characters moving abouts and do more are something that I have been waiting for a long time and the ability to directly buy items and skill points from CCP to level up my characters was something that I look forward to. I like to deal directly with the supplier and buying from CCP allows me to maximise my real life time in working and making money and still enjoy the game. Honestly speaking, it is definitely better than spending more time trying to make it in game and suffer in real life. I know there are many who are still interested in micro transactions and wanting to do more with 3D characters but it seems that the development of such is to end and it is a shame to see good work go to waste. If paying a little more subscription will put more development into those areas, I really don't mind paying a bit more fee since it supports the game.
By the way, very good work on the forums and the all in one game and forum integration. I haven't had the time to congratulate the developers on that one. Hopefully, it can only get better. |

I was once close friends with a guy who made a lot of money for his age, and considered himself to be 'very busy.'
He liked to play Civilisation most evenings... He'd build hundreds and hundreds of absolutely terrible units, as fast as he could, and then wait for them to become obsolete; so that the AI stopped building them, and moved on to better things. At that point he'd open up a console window, change all their terrible stats to max, and spend the rest of the game rampaging across the world with no chance of ever losing a single unit.
He was very busy you see, and wanted it to be fun...

So the TLDR version is 'I want instant gratificaiton and I'd like to turn EVE into yet another P2W game', because the market isn't flooded enough already with games that are just like what your suggesting.
I for one don't play this game for instant gratification and appreciate the feeling of actually having reached a goal in the game because I actually worked for it rather than whipping out my credit card. I only started playing EVE earlier this year and I respect that there are others in-game that can do things that I can't and I wouldn't take that away from them, they earned it.
And in before someone says that you can buy characters from the bazaar, that debate has been done numerous times already resulting in how it would not be good for the longevity of EVE as well as other problems it produces in a sandbox game.
I could easily go down the path of buying a multi-million SP character finacially, but I have no interest in it because then to me, I'm only short changing myself. The sweetest rewards to me are the ones I've had to work for.
I can only hope that the 'self entitled, instant gratification' crowd doesn't destroy every game on the market, both current and yet to be released ones. Currently the only use for aurum is to buy virtual items in the in-game store, but Cockerill expects to expand its uses in the future. |

Remember that most people dont post on these forums only the sad, lonely and the trolls. Everyone thinks their opinion needs listening to which is why they post only to realise that opinions are like arseholes, Everyone has one.
This in game station was rushed and there is nothing more you can say. People found that their graphics cards could not handle it was poorly implemently which is why it has been taken out so that they can work on it (or forget it)
Your next part is a bit unclear. do you want to be able to buy skill points or isk. You can buy isk with plexes. You cannot buy SP for a number of reasons and this is them 1. "I spent years training for my character and everyone else should to" 2. Everyone would have 100 million SP. look at Dark Orbit. Everyone is FE and those that are not are out of the game 3. Truthfully if you gave everyone 100 million SP right now. most of the player base would quit mainly because they would get very bored very quickly. most people only keep playing because they are more addictied to skilling than playing the game
4. MY THOUGHTS. i would love for people to buy SP. There would be killboards full of tengus and pods of players who were only a week old.
and after that its mainly waffle. (try to condense your views as otherwise it wil be TL;DR
hope this helps
I wasn't talking about giving everyone 100M SP. It could be along the lines that SP purchases are capped at 10M SP bi-annual. It gives players flexibility over what they can level up quickly in the game to have fun in their limited game time. Buying SP allows players to quickly unlock access to items with available credits from PLEX. It does allow players to maintain interests rather than waiting for months before you can access those items.

OP must be trolling.
Here everybody earns SP at the same rate, wether they are casual players or not. That's one of the reasons why i signed up with EVE, right because here you are never outranked by every last brat farming experience10 hours a day. EVE skilling system is one of the best features it haves and NO, i don't buy that being a casual means you should be able to get SP faster. NO-NO, period. So... no affordable NEx store... no full-fledged Incarna... no casual content... no solo content... no PvE content...-á

To the OP, if you want to spend RL money on an ingame advantage go buy a pile of plex, sell them on the market and buy a new Char or ship or monacle, or what ever you want to spend it on.
The best part about this game is that I do not have to grind 40000 skeletons to get to max level because there is no max level.
It rewards players for keeping their account training. It does not give a advantage to any player who plays 23 hours a day over the guy who plays 2 hours a day.
The only advantage is the fact that said player who is on 23 hours a day is making isk 23 hours a day. In EVE isk is your advantage, more you have more ships you can lose more nice faction loot you can afford. But wait again there is a way to get that advantage... PLEX.... |

All i can say is just be glad skills train without effort, most games you have to grind quests and kill mobs to get experience to increase your skills, here you buy the book start it training and sit back and wait, we already have it too easy.
It's not as if you have to work to get your skills, you just start your queue and only have to log in every 24hrs to add more, plus once you get to the higher skills you don't even have to log in fro 20+ days, the "i'm a casual player and don't have time to level my character" excuse is a none entity in this game.
I can just about understand the "but players who started before me have an advantage" excuse, but to be honest because of the way the system works even that excuse is very much moot because with the right combination of skills and the right ship/loadout 20mil sp character can be just as viable as a 60mil sp character.
What people don't realise is alot of these 50mil 60mil 100mil characters have a ton of wasted skill points, they think more is better, but it's not, it's about what skills you have not how many you have. |

Don't delude yourself in thinking that they care what forum posters say. Exactly.
CCP started enthusatically with their CARBON engine only to find out that .. it's a monster of an engine and however pretty (excluding some shader effects), even rendering just one single character walking around in a shoebox already eats more resources than your average fast paced 3D shooter game with 40 people running around in it.
So I guess investors became impatient and raised their eyebrows on the validity of the WiS path, which also would serve as the WoD engine. Also with the current economical climate they rather don't take risks - but the carbon engine seemed to be a neverending story to fine tune and work proper, without killing your PC.
In the meantime the CSM/forum posters started to grumble over the time and human resources WiS was going to consume the coming months/years. Now CCP had the perfect excuse to postpone WiS without losing face (leaving the sinking ship), fire their WoD development team, shelve WoD and "re-allocate resources on FiS since the playerbase wants it and CCP found they mistakingly lost their way". It's all too convenient to be true and genuine imho .. but that's perhaps my suspiscion. |

And the irony is what the op is whining for is already in the game. If you are "super successful" irl go and buy 1000 plex and equip a supercap fleet.
In the game I have an Erebus class titan. If the op can't spend the time to "achieve this in game" then she has the option of buying 200 plex and turning it to isk and buying it from me.
And in doing so she won't be breaking the sandbox by promoting some horrible NeX shop that short-circuits traditional eve content and gameplay.

Even with a lot of dev resources focused on WoD/WiS type code, CCP admitted that they were unable to deliver the WiS content to Eve in a timely fashion. No, the FiS (Flying in Space) players are the majority of the customers. Folks playing Eve because of WiS are definitely in the minority because a) WiS hasn't been delivered yet, and b) most customers who start playing a game based mainly on vapor-ware features just simply can't be a majority, meaning I refuse to believe that that many people can be that stupid.

I am glad that some are able to discuss in a very civilised way like adults.
Jade, I don't want a system that messes up the game. Sure, if I think there is value in spend some money to buy a nice Titan instead of a nice IWC then by all means. I am sure no sane person will do that. If there is a need, then PLEX is there. However, some micro transaction features like buying skill points don't kill the game. I buy skill points and they are for me, and me alone. My skill points won't interfere with your skill points and the advantage is localised to me alone unless you are afraid of a one day old newb killing you in game in an interceptor match?
What I am voicing is not only that I want everything micro transactions. I don't mind having some form of it like I love Fighting in Stations or FiS with 3D characters. It will feel like better than Earth and Beyond or any other because you have spaceships and actual characters fighting and interacting. It is fun.
My concern on terminating micro transactions and not looking at it further is that some players like do love Eve but we have no time. Some of us, like I do, work 12 - 14 hours a day and play time if I am lucky after work is only an hour before calling it a night by midnight. Sure, I could get CCP to allow me to buy items directly from them so I can save time but that is a bit too much and I can sacrifice that and accept that I can still do that with PLEX. However, for anything else that won't interact with players, there's micro transactions.
I am future looking because that is what I do. Sure, I know there will be some players mocking or ridicule me but at the end of the day, I know I will triumph because it is the right path forward. Everyone is entitled to their views and I am giving my views that CCP can also make money from players like me. Also the playerbase benefits from having a +1 in game. Not forgetting that my subscription will also allow Eve to grow and have more devs. Everyone benefits. The alternative is playerbase don't grow and maybe shrinks because there are other games out there as well and everyone else loses.
I know some won't agree but I am used to it because my job in real life allows me to disagree with others and I make money from it. It is a decent living, hard work and not much time to play Eve so my opinion on how it could benefit players like me. Whether you agree or not, it doesn't matter but it is still a valid point. Like half a year ago, I was suggesting pay more fee for more content and development and I was talking about inflation and everyone said there wasn't inflation and mocked me. At the end, we have seen who has been right so far.
Like I said, I am very used to have different views.

As far as I know and it seems to be true in many real life examples, technical issues can be solved or mitigated. One way is to pay the right money to sort it out. If paying an extra few dollars to contribute to a better gaming experience, I am sure that is an option.

Having played in a number of games that have gone the Free to Play & Micro-Transaction route.
They were wrecked by the Micro-Transactions either becoming pay to play at anything other than a gimp or Shop Items = instant win!
Micro-Transactions only seem to work if they were planned for at the start of development.
Sell SP in any form would be a guaranteed game breaker in EVE!
Because SP is so democratic, there is NO distinction between hard core, casual, 24/7 players or those who play once a month!
If you want more development in EVE then persuade CCP to sell non-voting company shares
I would bet that would raise a lot more money than wrecking the game by getting nearly everyone to quit! |

From what you're saying you have limited time to play and would like to accelerate the skill learning on your character.
This game is a character building game, built over time, not instant skills.
If you have the money to throw at the game you have PLEX to gain your isk.
You have the character bazaar to buy your character already skilled for your use.
You already have ways to get around your problem (you see it as a problem, I don't as you can train offline).
Don't try to spoil it for everyone else just because you want instant gratification.
So buy your PLEXes and your character, get down to 0.0 and lose a few Titans.
Micro transactions don't care about those as long it sticks to clothes and accessories.
As for WiS I don't really care about that either, I do use the CQ though. But I think that people have this wonderful idea of what it could be like. I also think they'll be disappointed with the finished product (if it ever gets finished) if the quality of CQs is anything to go by.
Other games do that kind of thing better anyway.
But I'm happy that CCP has chosen to sort out the original game (and original direction) before ploughing into the bolt on WiS. |
