Anything new going on here? It would be fantastic to have an online version of Quickfit/EFT for those of us who don't use windows.
I can do Ruby on Rails development and have a server thats doing nothing, so if anyone's working on this let me know.

Yeah, I'm a python developer, but I'll pitch in to help out (learn ruby if I have to. :P).

I haven't used QF in the longest time, so I downloaded the XML file from my character sheet...but when I try to Import it, I get an "Error: Invalid XML file" each time.
I tried using the XML file as is, renaming it from the default "Charactersheet.xml.xml" to "Charactersheet.xml" and then "mycharactername.xml" but no go each time.
Is it a change to QF or is it the XML file?

Use EVEMon to export the XML File (XML (Long) Format).
works fine

One is completely dead (quickfit) and one is alive and kicking (eft).
I'm honestly not sure why this thread is still open.

had the same error message here also - used the above instruction and BINGO, data loaded into QuickFit just fine
EXCEPT I used

Well since a full recompile might be in order anyway, it would be nice to have more of a graphical interface, however it's no real biggy, I would just enjoy to see it updated to EA and to finally include an API function to automaticaly update. |

probably not going to happen as first QF was a steaming pile of doo at its best, and then the developer was a **** and obstuficated the source (as in make it really fkin hard to use after being decompiled).
not to mention, when I decompiled it to make a "better" simulation thing, I was disgusted at how it was written (and no, this was not just the fault of the decompiler. it may not get what the author wrote exactly however it will get the gist of it, and it was gross.) it was "revolutionary" when it was released, but now its completely obsolete and for good reason.
the only things I miss from it are 1. set skills to level needed by ship and 2. the simulation thing (sometimes).

thatÆs is not a nice thing to say. How would you feel if created something of note and it was called ô****ö. Not very encouraging to other budding developers. You will never know the feeling as you've probably never created anything of note in your life.

He didn't call the program a "****" as you put it, he was commenting on the fact that the author went out of his way to make it hard to decompile quickfit. That's not necessarily a bad thing if you're supporting the program, but it would have been nice if the author had tried to make it easier when he decided to stop working on quickfit. And you really shouldn't accuse people of things when you don't know them; ZigZag has done a lot more than you obviously think he has, he just doesn't feel the urge to make a something for public consumption.

Great tool, but I am experiencing buggy behavior with my mac.
1. Importing xml from eve-online gives a invalid xml format error. 2. When manually adding skills and saving the file, then re-importing says successful, but nothing imports. 3. Icons do not show up 4. no window resizing possible 5. button labels are truncated and unreadable.
I assume that I am doing something wrong - so any help would be appreciated. I launch the program by double clicking on the jar file - their does not seem to be another method available.

EVEmon and eft do not work on a Macintosh. For us Mac users QF is the only option. It would be nice if somewhow it got better.

So, even though QuickFit is dead, and most people are using EFT (which is slightly less dead) I just can't bring myself to do it.
Yes, the interface for EFT is nice - awesome in fact. But there are just too many features from Quickfit, even as cumbersome and buggy as it may be, that I don't feel I can do without.
For one, ship information is (in my opinion) more complete and easier to access. Module information is also more complete, including descriptions - which is pretty important for me since I don't necessarily always have the description for every module type committed to memory.
I really appreciate the ability to save ship loadouts as an HTML page. Not a big deal for some I guess, but its a very good thing for me. So I'm going back to QuickFit, even though its dead..... :)
