ok i know this is way to early to be asking this but does anyone have an estimate on what the prices of these mega ships will be because i heard that a titan is like 100 bil and a carrier not a mother ship a carrier is almost 10 bil is this true?

Considering CCP has joined the Dark Side, they've made small carriers non-empire pretty much, so even though many corps can afford them, only lowsec ones will have them.
Also, I don't see Titans or motherships being something that is built by groups and then sold. Simply too small of a market. It'll be easier for alliances to build them themselves rather than paying the extra 20-40bil for someone else to do it. Same with motherships, but they're more likely. Carriers will be usable enough for a business to be run, but alot of people will probably try to do it, so if you dont get in at the start, it'll probably be as profitable as selling freighters. ------------------------------------
Quote: 1 Billion isk currently sells on ebay for about $225 90 day GTC $38.95 Currently selling for 300mill
Therefore 1Bill isk costs you $129.50. |

Build cost of the ships worked out by Enslaver:
Carrier: 750m
Mothership: 15,500m
Titan: 46,500m
I think that these build costs were comfirmed by Oveur althought i'm not 100% sure.

No, a Mothership is about 10x the price of a dreadnaught. Carriers will be the ones around Dread price.
As posted in another thread, which iirc, a Dev said was pretty much dead on. going by current mineral prices(this is to buy the materials to build the components then the ship):
Carrier: 700-770mil Mothership: 15.5billion Titan: 45-50billion
Carriers would be VERY practical for individuals to own. But they use jump drives, so you need a field to jump to, meaning you'd need an alt, and jump drive fuel.
Now if they make carriers into normal ships, which they should, then they could go in empire, and whatnot. All CCP would need to do to balance them is make carriers unable to assign fighters (leave that to motherships, makes more sense anyways), and make them too big for Agent mission gates, so that people don't turn lvl 4s into insanely easy money.
Honestly, who here wouldn't give up assigning fighters to others, and mission use to have the ability to use Carriers in empire space (espically for WARS), other than carebears who've been in npc corps for a year+ and never go into lowsec? ------------------------------------

No problem glad i could help you.
I will say tho that these prices are just 'base' prices nothing to stop people adding profit to them.
As for the carrier true its for low sec only but there is no reason why it wont be useful for a small corp to have one

another thing to keep in mind that oveur mentioned the captial shipyards will have a 25% reduction in mineral requirements for cap ships. so even though the small carrier doesn't require one of these to be built it will make sence. which makes it right about 500-600M dpending on min prices to cook a carrier in one of these

Edited by: James Lyrus on 06/12/2005 15:28:49 Carriers IMO are just about feasible for an 'individual', but they're quite achievable for any corp. (In much the same way as freighters).
You won't see (m)any people soloing in them, I think, because they _need_ cyno support, and a lot of their value is lost as a single ship. (Hangar array, fitting array are really big assets to a gang, but pretty much worthless solo).
They're T1, so reasonable insurable, and they're priced between freighters and battleships, which I reckon means they'll be popular - they'll go down well on most corp operations, simply as a way to refit/swap ships wherever you are. -- Complaining about the PvPers and Pirates in EVE is like complaining about the mines in Minesweeper. |
