Why is that all the named cloaking devices (Dread Guristas, Cladari Navy, even all the officers)
Are WORSE than the Basic module.
Take Thon's modified cloaking device, it requires too much CPU to use. almost 24 units more than the improved one, and its slower to lock after Decloaking. The same goes for every single one of them. Personally I'd rather use a prototype covert ops because its half the fitting of an improved one (But thats just me) But On the whole Every single Named cloaking device in the game is actually worse than what they are trying to replicate. Yet people still try to sell them for more than an improved cloaking device.
Surely its about time Named cloaking devices were made just a little bit better than than the module they are actually trying to be. Spread out the changes , give Dread Guristas a bonus to velocity while cloaked and maybe caldari navy an increase to sensor recalibration and so on and so forth... |

Recon ships are coming out, non-t2 cloaks are for old ppl.

True , but they require covert ops cloaking devices. Named Cloaking devices will still be pointless. |

Stealth Bombers rely on non-Tech II Cloaking Devices adn also receive a speed bonus while cloaked, based on the pilot's Covert Ops skill level. If I were to fit a Guristas Cloaking Device, I would get a better speed than an Improved Cloak, due to the decreased velocity penalty of the Gurista's module.
Also, I believe that the new Reconnaissance cruisers will come in two varieties: one that uses the Covert Ops Cloak, one that uses standard cloaks.

Named cloaks tend to have a lesser nerf to scan radius.
And you would rather use a proto cloak and not an Improved cloak on a bomber? Uh. You obviously have no clue. Impro has less speed and scan radius nerf, so is very much worth the extra CPU.
I, don't, think, you, trust, in my self-righteous suicide. |

Edited by: MeJulie on 06/12/2005 10:32:09 But in fitting the guristas one u are gaining 3% velocity whilst cloaked which equates to nothing and losing 5 seconds On when you can lock.
Bottom line is that these mods need to be better. They just aren't worth the minerals they are made from.
When Dread Cloaking devices came out, people were selling them for over 150 million, yet in reality the improved was better.
All I am asking is that if these are supposed to be Uber mods (Uber because They only drop from rare spawns) Why are they so rubbish.
To theRaptor, this is a sensible argument, keep it so ! And no , I don't use a proto on a Stealth Bomber, I use an improved like everyone else. (Stealth bombers are rubbish anyway, but thats another argument) |

True, but after RMR, Stealth Bombers will not be affected by the sensor recalibration time, and other ships who fit cloaks tend to not want to lock, choosing to hide rather than fight, where that extra velocity could be very useful. It still doesn't justify the prices though.

The scan res penalty is AFAIK seperate to the lock delay

The Dread Gurista cloak is much better than the Improved Cloak II except for the recalibration time. I use one on my Manticore, and I go a lot faster cloaked than with the Improved. It will be better in every way after bombers get upgraded next patch.
