so just how can a corp protect it's investment. would u trust 1 person with a 50bill ship? who's to say as soon as they get in the new titan they wont jump corp?
is there going to be a way to ensure it can't leave a corp when a pilot does?
Are there going to be ways for some 1 to log into the titan and take command well it's other pilot who is in a diffrent timezone is asleep logged off in it?
how does the cloning work when it comes to people from diffrent gangs, corps adn allainces? is it possible for some 1 to sneak into a allied corp then clonejump and steal it when the pilots offline as the ships persistant?

Titans will be play things exclusively for the uber alliance leaders. All normal players shouldn't even worry about them, since you'll never own one and probably never even see one. -- Lil Miner |

That would be the best way to go about it. Maybe they should require a vote of shareholders before they can be moved.

Well motherships are a lot mor ereachable (15 bill) and face the same issue as titans. Im quite worried about the fact that it cant dock, this means the only way to keep your titan/ms safe from thiefs is by parking it in a POS, who are horribly buggy.
Not to mentionm that +20 bill isk floating in space makes quite a few players reconsider their loyalty to their corporation
POS'es should get some form of shipyard that locks down these ships and prevents people from flying away with them unless they have the password. Shooting down the POS (Or it running out of fuel would of course kill the lockdown and allow anyone to board it) ------------------

Maybe you should be able to set up a "list" of corp members who have access to the titan/mothership/carrier as a role 9much like with a POS. If the person has the role they can fly it, otherwise no one else can.
Also the titan is tied to the corp not the pilot so pilots can't give it to anyone else.
Other restrictions could be that to jump or move a titan requires a vote involving the ceo and any directors (regardless of shares) before it can be redployed (with such a major asset this would be handy to stop it going walkabout).

Regarding some of the concerns of 'illegal boarding' - Do you have any idea how much skills it will take to fly a Titan, and how many people who are not planning to build one are going to train the skills just for the one in a gazillion chance of stealing one?

Still every major alliancw will prolly have at least one pilot (And hell, prolly at least one dread too(
Flying a mothership on the other hand is easy (Quite a few vets have bs 5, all they need then is Advanced Spaceship command 5 and Racial carrier 3 + possibly some drone skills) so running off with a 15 bill isk ship + fittings is a pretty large risk. ------------------

A titan should be corp-owned, and voting should be used to control who can use it.
Come on, we can have BPO lockdown on valuable blueprints but giving anyone unrestricted access to something worth 70 billion is silly. - Proud member of the [23].

easy , make the ability to pilot a titan and mothership a corporation role. As long as you sit in the ship you cannot leave corp.
Still doesnt stop them from handing over the ship to someone else though. That requires a titan to be tied to a spesific corp , but then you cannot steal ships by taking down pos where it is parked.......

Voting to core destruct the mothership/titan then blowing it out of the void would be one way to go about this.

About the parking thing, won't it just dissapear from space when you log off?
Only problem is when the pilot decides it doesn't wanna fly it anymore for a while, can't exactly go npc'ing/mission running or whatever in a titan.
And the whole security thing ofcourse. Should be a role, but whatever you do, there's still trust involved probably.

Not that it is a matter for li'l ol' me, but I fear the insurance on a Titan more than the potential theft.
Honestly, this sounds like asking for a technical solution to a social issue. Should someone steal a Titan, you can guarantee they will be hunted to the ends of the galaxy, and unless they are leaving to another major alliance, there is no way they could support it and flee all at once.
Alliances trying to steal each other's Titan by offering thier corp members a sweet deal seems like a valid tactic.

The problem is, theres no way to prevent the theft especially since CCP refuses to offer CEO's any form of security when it comes to recruiting people. If an enemy alliance wants to steal it from a Capital docking bay by destroying the POS its located at; Fine. Great even, sounds oike quite a bit of fun.
Having someones alt in a bs bumping the ship outside of the POS bubble and having your enemies run off with it while you where sleeping is just lame tbh.

Trusting people in an online game is exactly what allows corps like the GHSC to do what they do. ------------------

I'm sure they've thought of this though, and even if they haven't it'll be a while before the first ones roll off the production line so they can hotfix it before then :)

You should have to be a Director+ to even be able to pilot one. Yes this would eliminate NPCorpies from ever being able to fly em.

There is a Capital Shipyard which is used to build the Titan and the Mothership. We will most likely use that as the storage place for these ships as well.
You can only jump to the ship if it has a pilot.

Let's not forget the COST OF THE SKILLBOOK.
I can see the titan skill itself costing over 1 billion easily. If it's under 5bil I'd be suprised. 2-3bil range sounds accurate. The Carrier skill will probably be around Dread skill costs?

That's actually a good suggestion. We might enable that at a later stage (We're in freeze right now).

Also, anyone that does not simply train and assign a specific character to fly a titan and leave it in it to log off with the ship rather then leave it at a pos to be destroyed by a hostile fleet at that one time of day your pilot isnt online, simply deserves no better.
Yes it's a major sacrifice to make, a character that highly trained locked up ina titan for most of its days, but then again, that's what character sales are good for. _______________________________________________

Sounds good yes, see no reason to allow someone in an npc corp to pilot a titan anyway. _______________________________________________

Why make it director? That just freezes talented pilots out...make capital corp piloting a NEW role.

Aye, especially since if i understand it right, being a director grants the person series of abilities that one might actually not want the pilot to have... even if it's specialized titan pilot..? o.o

Ovuer, you forgot to mention a few things:
1. You're removing the jump drive from carriers and giving them a warp drive, making them usable in Empire.
2. You're removing their ability to assign fighters to other people.
3. You're making them unable to use mission acceleration gates, and they can only enter 10/10 complexes, if any complex at all, you're still on the fence about it.
4. CONCORD will get upgraded, and if a carrier does something that requires some wtfpwning, CONCORD sends in its special warp-drive fitted Dreads who then go into seige-mode and pwn your carrier so hard you'd think you were an Amarrian facing a Jove mothership.
5. You're EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME.

DON'T MAKE DIRECTOR ROLE
omg can you say POS access problems all the hell over again.
make it a specific role and do it right from the start since you have the option. It's taken months to get specific accesses on POS's out the door and they've been an integral part of the game. This is a risk on a greater scale. You don't need access to the corporation wallet to be a cruise ship captain for a cruise line.
make it a specific role that is director only grantable? or vote requiring?

All ships have a warp drive.. just so you know. Carriers might, however, gain the ability to use gates.
