Of course depends on if you prefer short or long range and of course the situation. But do you go for the extremes, ie either iron or anti-matter or do you make a compromise (for example lead`)?

Antimatter is my ammo of choice, but when I need range, I have an odd penchance for iridium. Iron is just too anemic for my tastes, although when you really need extreme range, I suppose you don't have much of a choice...

in PVP better to have choice every time. So i have in cargo 60% Antimatter, 20%-25% iridium or better thorium (12% range bonus), 20-15% Iron.
all time loaded 4 guns medium range ammo (thorium),3 guns antimatter. This give me chance to shoot up to 80km till 20km.
PVE... if use 425mm - thorium, 350mm`s - irridium, tracking comps.... so optimal is about 89km.
If i use blasters, Antimatter only (still have few iron in case of something)
P.S. it`s for large guns

Antimatter in blasters always, ( can sometimes use iron for a suprise outside 10km, but anti is your basis )
Rails, either antimatter, or thorium. Antimatter for damage, and thorium when I need range, it's about as low damage on ammo I'm whiling to go, outside that range, who cares not worth the bother of fighting. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Tungsten is an underrated choice for railguns. Very nice range and decent damage. ___________________________________

plutonium....
works great on my harpy and ranis ____________ The cargo bay is overloaded and cannot be made to fit Expanded Cargohold I. It is currently only capable of fitting 8772.12 units and it is currently jammed full with 9558.33 units. |

I always fit antimatter in my AF, with fall off I can hit upto 19k ok ish, so if the target is out side that range I have the option of warping as I aint scrambled or re-loading with better ammo,
however,
like said above, you need to have a good selection in your hold just incase Elltaes Kroywen

As a mission runner, I pack antimatter, iridium and tungsten. I used to pack iron too, but with 200mm guns the range difference versus tungsten isn't enough to justify iron.
Antimatter for anything that catches up fast from range, tungsten for things I can keep at range with AB, iridium for things I can keep at range with AB that need a little more persuasion. Iridum or tungsten also for cowardly NPCs that run away. And of course antimatter is a must for PITA six-hours-worth-of-armour-and-three-hours-worth-of-hull objective structures.

Antimatter and Plutonium for blasters, Thorium and Tungsten for rails. Iridium for long range railing.

Quoted for pointless post of the day... Mind you, I haven't read many of the forums yet, so I may change my mind...
I believe the original poster was suggesting that Iron is pointless in blasters since it affects the range so little and the damage so much. Not mentioning anything about ION blasters...

Blasters: antimatter, iron against webbing/scrambling frigates.
railguns: antimatter, thorium, lead depending.
Plutonium also is nice if you want decent damage, but want to save on cap. Like my double MAPC, mwd'ing Ares with 150's. -------------------------------------------------- Loyalty, Integrity, Honour. |

I like antimatter for short and lead for medium/long range, the lead gives no range penalty but saves on cap, and still does decent damage up to my max lock range.

Edited by: Anfelina Adante on 07/12/2005 22:45:55 Thorium works great for my railgun setup. I stick to 14km-30km range.

Rails, I like: AM, Pb, and Iridium.
Blasters: AM, and few Fe for those long distance pains in the tuckus.

99% of the time AM, on occassion thorium as its -50% cap usage and not to much damage difference to AM.

blasters: AM....amything else imo is a waste
rails: AM (loaded) iridium in the cargo, iron if need to sniper stupidly long range...but useless tbh.
