The fighter models on the test server are superb... clean, imaginative, futuristic designs with manuevering jets that respond to the fighters movements.
Okay, we're spoiled now.
I don't know who did those models and worked out the effects for the jets, but can we have more of this.... please

As of last night, only the Amarr and Minni fighters had visible models. The Calderi has a Ogre model as a place holder, and the Gallente one is messed up. It has it's model rendered for its icon, but is completely missing when you do a "look at".

Gallente fighter is the coolest looking at the moment, appears like distant cousin of the racing planes from 1930's (short wings, heavy front with large engine, small tail, pilot sat high atop of it in a tiny cabin far towards the rear, lot of chrome and pipes) ... some will likely complain it's just a mini-brutix, though ;s

The only pic I've seen of the Gallente fighter so far indicates that it is in fact Brutix that was accidentally put into a warm wash cycle for two hours.

I like the shape it has just too much to care :p
and no other ship i saw so far has*****pit modeled down to controls that actually give impression of working... the level of detail is mind-boggling. Crying shame at least shuttles or the noobie ships aren't given similar appearance ;.;

I think there's a fairly straightforward reason for this kinda detail only appearing on fighters, and that's that they're 1) flagship products and 2) going to be very, very rare
If you did the same for shuttles it's be a constant performance headache. With fighters, not so much. Besides, if you have fighters being deployed in anger, chances are the battle's sufficiently large that you're lagging to death anyway.

I don't belive it would lag more than any other drone. All the graphics are handled by the client, and that should be able to turn them off and on. But we could use with a graphics upgrade in general.

Not net lag no, but client lag probably. That kinda detail on stock ships like shuttles could cause issues for some

Do we know if Fighters will do all damage types, or will they only do their racial, like drones? I'm a bit sick of Amarr and Minmatar drones sucking, and if it stays the same with fighters I will be really sad-face.

Or the fact that most of the other models were done 2-3 years ago, and most likely CCP knows that most machines have been upgraded in that time to handle a higher polycount/higher resolution textures. I doubt any of the old ships will be reworked though, as most of them seem fine to me and would create a massive drain on CCP resources. |

When it comes down to it, space vessels dont have to look like anything because aerodynamics is a nill.
So if anything, Minnie shiops are prolly the most accurate, while Gallente are a bit fantastical.

I haven't actually seen them . . . but I've been hoping that that's what they would look like :)
Anyone have pictures of the other ones besides the templar.

The minmatar fighter is kinky :D They also made new models for the sentry drones...
And for the person who asked, Fighter drones to two damage, Racial Damage.

Minmatar ships sometimes do seem to have the engines in the most correct place. Most ships in EVE have their propulsion misaligned with the centre of gravity, and therefore wouldn't do much more than spin around. :)

You mean center of mass? First assumption to make is that no ship is homogene in mass distribution. The only ship I know that has poorly aligned propulsion in EVE is the Blackbird (Caldari engineering at it's best), as it doesn't even warp straight.
