Why do torp launchers which have a range of 62km fight time only hit at 55km. Tested it on another toon with a fight time of 55km which only hit at 48.
Is it broken or is there meant to be a 7km falloff?
Edit, that test was on a none moving targets |

Not falloff, acceleration. Torps, like all missiles, take time to come up to speed. |

Hi Zhilia Mann, you need to make sure all skills including support skill are as hi as can be and implants for torps and you will be hitting beyond 55 km with javelins. |

Hmm? Me? Yeah, my supports are at 5. Hell, including Launcher Rigging, not that it's relevant here. Nor are any of my skills. |

That's a fair point so why not call it as it is 55km fight time instead or 62km

That kind of depends. How are you getting your "flight time" numbers?
I'll assume in game, where I'm pretty sure it's simply calculated by flight time multiplied by speed. So that's where the discrepancy occurs.
If you're getting numbers from a third party program (EFT or pyfa) things get more murky. If I'm remembering right, EFT uses the same calculation as in-game whereas pyfa at least attempts to mitigate acceleration. |

From what I know do missiles need to accelerate to their top speed. It then depends in which direction your ship is moving and how fast before a missile has reached its top speed and is flying into the correct direction.
They may also lose up to a second of flight time at their end, because the server only does 1-second ticks. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |
