I see Eve is on a steam sale, is there anyway (apart from trading) to get Eve cards in Steam with my current Eve account?
Failing that, anybody wana donate the cards to me? |

Hmm, I can't download that way as I have the External Eve client. |

Will CCP allow us to link our Eve accounts to our Steam via a key or something? Now it seems existing accounts miss out on offers and bonuses in Eve due to not being in Steam. Will CCP address this?
I see there is a button to purcahses PLEX via steam, I assume this is only for Steam account holders of Eve and not external account customers. Will CCP clarify this please?
I bet we miss out on PLEX offers on Steam too if that is the case. |

I already have a subscription, is it now required to have multiple subscriptions to get the benefit of offers? Looks like a fragmented sales channel for customers, looks like direct customers (existing Eve - non steam and non amazon) get better offers than us.
Will CCP please clarify this? |

If CCP didn't honestly think this would be egg on their faces yet again and blowback, well, they don't tend to think things through much in depth then.
Shows plainly that being a subscriber directly is not a good idea as we miss out on such benefits. |

Oh no, the virtual items, the entitlement! The horror!
Steam Keys aren't free, I'm sure every key has a charge attached to it. If CCP were just to hand out like 500,000 keys to EVE on Steam, they would probably cost them a pretty penny. If you really want the trading cards that badly, just buy them off the market. You can't complete a badge without buying or trading anyway. |

We pay, its called a subscription
Anyway, this brings up another issue, people on Steam are now offering Eve Cards for ISK. Is this allowed CCP? |

You pay CCP for an EVE Subscription through their website. You did not buy it through Steam, thus you are not getting the content provided to you through Steam. Why should you get Steam Trading Cards for a game you did not buy through Steam? |

because I can also buy PLEX via Steam and I have a steam account and an eve customer, I can see fragmentation on offerings on pricing in future and I would be unable to use such offers even if I have active accounts on both. |

Steam allows you to add games to your Library that you have purchased through other means. I've done it with multiple games that I have on disc, as well as ones I've bought through other sites. You do not have to buy a game through Steam to add it to your steam account. The problem that is going on right now, is that EVE doesn't have a CD Key or Authentication code you can use to link to your Steam account. This is the first time I and others have come across this. Thus why the thread about it.
Yes, we want the cards for our steam accounts, I'd be lying if I said I didn't , but adding any other game onto Steam is a free service, so why does EVE make you buy an additional copy in order to do so? People really didn't pay attention to it before because there wasn't any point as there was no real difference between downloading and launching threw Steam or using the EVE client. Now there is, and now people are finding out about this problem.
If linking a game with your Steam account wasn't a free service, then I'd wholeheartedly agree with you. "Pay for the Steam version if you want to get the Steam content or get over it" would be my response, but in this case it literally is free with all other games. Why not EVE? Why are EVE subscribers the only people, to my knowledge, that have to buy 2 copies of the game to get it on our Steam accounts? |

You are not going to get a key because they don't want to pay steam their slice of the pie. If you want your useless cards then buy the game off steam and give steam some money. |

I could come up with so many arguments for why it makes sense that you don't get to redeem your EVE subscription on Steam, but seriously GÇô the game is on sale with a 75% discount for less than Gé¼5, which gives you 30 days to start a new alt account, EVE properly added to your Steam library, as well as the ability to earn trading cards, and you're STILL whining that you should get a Steam key for free? Really? |

They are Steam trading cards, not EVE trading cards.
Buy the game through Steam, get the cards.
Do you really think Steam invested resources into these, so players who don't buy through Steam could go hassle the game studios for cards?
Again, you want Steam trading cards, buy through Steam. They have nothing to do with EVE.
If they ever somehow end up on the Market, or are viewable through the EVE client, you can come back.
The mess about linking accounts is a different matter, and I support all the fuzz going on about it. |

Items that can be sold on the Steam Market. Sure, not for much, and you can only use what you get for purchases on Steam, but it's still something that only some Eve players can get.
But the main thing I want from the trading cards is the wallpapers that they come with (just click on cards from the badges page). So if someone can give them to me, in 1920x1080 (if available), I'll be happy. |

Good thing this isn't the only game in history to not be linkable to steam accounts. Hint: A lot of games out there are not linkable to Steam, chief.
Not with "all the other" games. Only Steamworks games.
Jesus christ you misinformed people..
Also...to the guy above...those aren't wall papers...they're profile backgrounds..
Also: Steam trading cards are done by Valve, for Valve. They take tax for each product sold on the market. Steam also takes a cut of the sales earned by developers through the Steam platform.

I don't really care what Valve calls them. All that matters is that most games have each trading card come with a 1920x1080 images, making them perfect images for my desktop wallpaper.
Also, I can't figure out how to set the images for individual trading cards to be my profile background. |

As of right now that's all I have...but if I can find somebody using one of the other backgrounds I can get the urls for the other ones.
Oh...and you can't use the images from the cards as your profile background...it has to literally be tagged as a profile background in order to use it.
As long as you enlarge the pictures, I believe they're all at least 1080p. |

No, they're offering them up for about 18 cents each. They're Steam trading cards owned by Valve, not EVE trading cards owned by CCP. They are CCP's Intellectual property for Eve. They are done by the game creator, not Valve.
I have talked to other game developers about cards, they said they are the ones that have to make them. |
