I've noticed in the alliance tournament that there are brackets with:
Player Name Ship Type Distance
Why are we not able to configure our clients like that if we so choose?
There was a topic I found on this from 2012, but the topic was locked for some reason. Link Here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2221942#post2221942
We already have a menu under overview settings to configure what is shown about a player when you put your mouse cursor over a ship bracket in space. Could we just modify this menu to have more check box options for things like ship name, distance, velocity, etc, AND then also be able to check boxes letting you choose when each item is displayed?
Ideas for ship brackets: - Add more options other than name, corp ticker, alliance ticker, ship type to the "Ships" tab in "Overview Settings" - Add check boxes for: 1. Display always 2. Display when highlighted/selected - When unchecked that field will not display - Check box for making "Display Always" fields only show on ships in "active overview settings" (Like the D-Scan)
Is there a workaround for something like this currently, or can we plus this thread until it can happen in a patch? |

I like the idea of having the option to do this if I want, but as far as I know CCP is trying to reduce clutter such as unnecessary options to make it easier for new players to get into the game, which I fully support.
To that end, they should have "Basic" and "Advanced" UIs. The game defaults to Basic on a fresh install and you can change to advanced mode with all its extra options from the ESC menu if you so choose. I have lots of ideas. -áThey're not always well thought through, but they are always well intentioned. -á |

This is an interesting idea. For small gang warfare, it makes a boatload of sense, especially when you kinda need to use your HUD to see where people are spatially. So you've got two guys that you're kiting, and you want to keep them both at different distances, you have to keep looking back and forth to the overview and click on the appropriate ship to see which one it is on you HUD... extra step = waste of time.

not sure, but there is already many things that can be achieved by manually editing the XML, my current overview is like this:

indeed, for a regular ship, the pilot name is displayed in yellow, and alliance is displayed only if he's an alliance member, corp is displayed otherwise |
