Could work but again this was such short notice that people didnt know until they got home from work. (and many companies ban personal email)

Dev Blog stated yesterday patch will be 15 Dec. It was updated 14 Dec 00:23 to patch being deployed 14 Dec 22:00.
So yea, a little more notice would be nice.

One day it is if the servers are back on-line after one day Realy, I don't care about the few hours I'm going to lose if the servers will be on-line after 24 hours. |

I knew about it
but I do understand what your saying. the word 2 days ago was that it would happen thursday.
I found out last night pretty late that it would be today. Had I not played yesterday I wouldn't have known either.

I just copy-pasted this out of your linked page: As a closing note, we hope Red Moon Rising passes testing over the next days, enabling a deployment on Thursday the 15th of December.
Hmmm ... we hope ... Thursday the 15th of December ... the defence has no more questions |

There has been enough information around showing that it was going to be this week unless a serious problem occured....tough ****. ----------- I would have a sig but it might break a arm, leg or even worse a rule. |

It'll be more something like: The lists where I have been in has probably been erased a couple of years ago. If I'm correct I registered my e-mail for info the first time somewhere around june 2002. OK ... I'm also an EVE addict (I didn't know the word "addict" was used a lot on the forum) |

on a positive note, if things were to take a little longer than expected, atleast we should definately have RMR for the weekend. If they went for the 15th instead and things went wrong, we'd probably be without eve for some or all of the weekend.

So the server goes down 3 1/2 HOURS before they said it would, They still gave 3 days notice which ever way you look at it (or 2 Days and quite a large bit). The question should be, why were you leaving it to the last minute?
Most people new the patch would be deployed this week, ive known for over a month and have told my corp what to be doing in the lead up to it. We've all had long skill training since Monday because we expected database issues during the backup before the servers go down.
There has been huge hype about this patch for a long long time, and most people knew that it would be deployed around now, its a shame you didnt know, but it's not CCPs fault, they warned us all DAYS ago!

This patch was rather sudden. I head 2 estimates from CCP, either this thursday or in 1-2 weeks, something like that. Noone even hinted that it might happen on wednesday
Nobody suggested a 24 hour downtime either. There should be 3 days warning so people can set long skill. Or implement a skill queue

This patch was very sudden.. I came online last on tuesday night about 10PM, and there was no mention of the patch happening tonight then(It only appeared at midnight). So I went to my grans funeral on wednesday, got back at 7PM to find I only had an hour to fly around and fuel all my POS's and empty there silos. CCP definately dropped the ball here, you can just say your taking a real-time game offline for 24 hours and only give people 20 hours notice!

I agree with the OP. I don't have his problem since I have a long skill on anyway, but, while it's true that we pretty much all knew that CCP would do their best to do it this week, I expected it for today (Thursday) as that's what was tentatively announced. I check the news every day and it wasn't until Wednesday that I saw the messages that it was going to happen on Wednesday, not on Thursday. And I know that's not just me. They moved it to one day earlier with a rather short notice. I'm not complaining, but everyone is acting all high and mighty on the OP blahblahblah you're wrong you suck etc. Guess what. He's right. Maybe he should have been more careful and set a long skill training earlier, but he's still right.

It was actually 75 hours notice, even though the blog said it would be 78.5 hours. I agree that the wednesday bit should have been mentioned earlier, but according to the post made on Sunday the server was going to be down on Thursday, the fact that it can 3.5hours before it was announced shouldnt have been a problem.
I know that not everybody plays eve 23/7 and that some people have actual lives, well these should be the least hit by the DT and should be the last to moan about the patch being moved forward 3.5 hours, afterall they have lives to fall back on, people like me dont :)

Edited by: Ashmael on 15/12/2005 10:03:05 To be fair they never made any official in game post about when it would take place until yesterday that i have seen. i know lots of people that dont read the forums as all they want to do is play. There should have been and official in game post and kept to that time. doesnt effect me though, still 20 days to go on my skill
Still good job by CCP to be on schedule for RMR.
FTW
Edit: if they did make an earlier official in game post, then big apologies from me.

so a few POSes go offline - when its back up simply refuel (either that or CCP could reset all the POSes to be refueled for 24 hours) doubt it but worth the idea posting

To be fair 20 of the 24 hours downtime are on Thursday 15th. Some in game announcement would have been a good idea though for those who don't read the forums.

My newbie alt got a nice email from CCP telling me about the patch and that I should try to set a skill training for at least a day or so...I believe this was sent yesterday morning... ?
Perhaps CCP should just blanket email the entire subscriber base...

Edited by: Leandro Salazar on 15/12/2005 11:20:19 The actual date of the patch was announced way too late, especially considering a later date was floating around too (And Thursday the 15th does not imply 00:00 eve time but rather something like 08:00, I doubt that they would start applying a patch at midnight local time. So it was more like 12 hrs early.) CCP definitely is to blame for negligence here.
That the patch would come this week though was pretty much common knowledge for at least 1.5 weeks, missing that cannot really be blamed on CCP but only on extremely xenophobic gameplay or something. And if you knew that it would come this week, knew you would be unable to play for a day or two during this week, and did NOT tie up your loose ends before that, you share at least half of the guilt for whatever you lose out on.

No kidding! I noticed that it would be on the 15th logging into the game. Regardless, I knew it would be this week, and I have an 8 day skill training right now. _______________________________________________

Now wait a friggin minute here "CCP definitely is to blame for negligence here." WTF
Read the damm DEV posts - they tell you the EXACT TIME and in any case - it's too late now 'cos the patching of the servers is half way through (we hope).
All you moaning people "its too late", "I wasn't told", "It's too early". For crying out loud (and I'm trying to stay calm here) play the game & pay attention you 's
Good job CCP and see the rest of you the other side of the patch.

i dunno about the rest of you, but ive been watching the forums/dev blogs/news for the express purpose of finding out when rmr was supposed to be released. i knew a week in advance it was ESTIMATED for the 15th, if not then january 1st. so stop complaining because you didnt actually take a look to see what was happening.
