Considering the number of people now playing EVE, over 19,000 online pre-RMR last week, I have to say this is the worst deployment I have ever seen by CCP, and I've been playing since beta.
I appreciate that this is a major content patch, but it would appear that a lot of the game mechanics were modified too.
I was here for the castor patch, that was a pain, but at least "simple" things like the market worked. Not the case with RMR as far as I can see.
Player order, 10-20 minutes. Corp order still not completed after 30 minutes.
I'm just trying to purchase the new skills to train them, and on TS I have spoken to 4 others that are having the same problem.
I didn't have an issue with the lag and the restarts, but the market being foobar'd after jumping through 0.0 to get so a "skills station" and THEN spending more time messing about with the market than I needed to travel is rediculous.
Who else is having serious problems with the market atm ? ---------

Messed up markets have been a feature of buggy restarts for at least the two years that I've been playing, so I don't see how that makes this patch any better or worse than any others. Come to that, this server trouble may not even BE related to the patch. Last month's wasn't, and the same thing was happening then.

So technicaly you don't have a problem. Since the market problem is due to lag.. and you don't have a problem with that...

Best patch ever! You realise this is all just lag from people patching, right? It happens with every big patch. It'll be gone in two weeks.

Im really not having any problems, i turned off all music and sound, and turned graphics to their lowest.
Im also in 0.0, much more to the south.
And it seems to be getting better every little while, just a lot of players connected probably doesnt help. Id give it another day or two before jumping to any conclusions.

i see your point, but in the meantime use the search function for assets and market and keep long skill training, as CCP has said over and over again.
CCP are competent and are doing the best they can to clear up the lag.
just sit tight...things should be back to normal soon (tm)
oh, and i wouldn't say that this is the worst patch ever...that just sounds like whining tbh _________________________________________ 2005.01.17 22:04:22 combat Chackle [PUSY] perfectly runs from you, wrecking for 1500 cowardice. |

Stop whining, if you play since beta then you know the 1st week after a patch is unstable. Just deal with it and let them smooth things out.

I think "worst patch ever" would be the one before cold war, where we couldn't even log in for like the next two days.

If you call this the worst patch deployment ever and claim to be playing since beta, you sure have a faulty memory because there have been several patch deployments that went far, far worse.
Apart from the very long downtime and some serious lag issues and the commons stealth nerfs, I'd say this patch was quite well done.

Yeah, same here. i logged in today to have my first experience of rmr, and i understand that there will be issues for a while. however imo the game is unplayable for me.
It took me 20mins at least to get in. got stuck at establishing connection. after another go, i established connection.......no character to select. ok another go. got stuck entering game. ok not a good first impression but hey, i can live with it.
Then i didn't even get chance to talk to a corp mate, got booted. logged in again. typed in message....got booted. got booted another time after this, then it seemed ok.
checked my skill....said it was completed imminently (which i know is not the case...only 80%ish done. sp said the same) never 'completed' so i changed skill, that took me at least 15mins for some reason.
ok, now some work. was gonna load up my ferox with ammo......lag moving to cargo was awful. i figured i cant mission like this so i'll do some travelling to get a new skill. cant buy it at all. many attempts....still nothing. ok lets try and get one of these new all singing all dancing damage controls. this time the box to purchase came up, clicked buy...nothing. tried this for another 10-15mins. no luck.
that was my first hour and a half of rmr. gave up and wrote this. i never even got to leave station.
how playable is rmr for others, in its current state i cant be bothered with getting so frustrated.
n.b. i appriciate all of the hard work that has gone into developing this patch, i love the ideas, and i know that everything is being done to help fix these problems but 'rollback' should be considered if not already scheduled. i love eve. i really want to play in right now.

I've had three hours of laggy but playable time online, but the Black screen Of Death has now got me... not had that experience for many months now. And all I did was jump through a gate into Jita

Having played for a long time on the test server, I knew this patch was not ready for release. It just is not ready for tranquility, period. It does n ot solve the lag issues we had b4 RMR and its seems even worse now. I think CCP rushed this patch and did not plan it well enough.

Agreed - I'm one ( of many ) professional IT spods on here ( unix, networking,db techy & architect for a big blue it company ) - patches should be *FULLY* tested on the test servers first ( & that includes load testing ) . Not a single retail system on the high street or in banks can be "laggy" for a while - it *has* to hit the ground running, and at full speed.
All the current issues being displayed should have been ironed out in the test/dev environment first. I do appreciate the work & effort that is going on 'cos I've been there done that & got the T-shirt ( & overtime ) , but as I've said before this isn't a freebie CS server. I'm sure that rollback lines are in the sand/deadlines and plans are in place and that it doesn't have to be done, but please , with the next big patch that comes along, please please fully test it first.

In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and since 2003 a few days of downtime when ccp release a major patch.
Chill people, it is being f1x0r3d.

Are people honestly suggesting that the auto patching people are responsible for nearly 24 hours of supposed-to-be-up-but-is-actually-almost-unplayableness?

Free expension, loads of new content, loads of improvements. All that for just a couple of "laggy" days? And you guys complaint? Patience, ccp is fixing it.

it used to happen, but I'd wager it's not related now - you might have noticed they're using a 3rd party content delivery network (or seem to be anyway).

I think whats being suggested is that the patch downtime isn't an issue, nor is the delay (BTDTGTTS), but more the issues afterwards. I guess CCP are working pretty hard to fix some of the stuff that's going on, but as was suggested, people on here work on systems that have to hit the ground running and this hasn't.
As a general question as this is my first online game, how do World of Warcraft etc compare with CCP for patching? Is it general chaos across the games industry for online patching, am I expecting too much?

This is my favorite patch so far.
No lag, few issues, new industry system that is awesome.
I've never been so happy with the game.

I have been playing MMO's for a few years. I have played 8 diffrent ones, and EVERY patch day you can be sure to find this EXACT ... worst patch ever, and is seems like the biggest complaint is the lag (very few complaints about the new contant, but usually theres something that doesent work right or makes somebody angry.) Im not saying it's not laggy, cause it is. But, thats the way it is with MMO's it always has been and im going to go out on a limb and say it always will be
Thank you for your support

Jaabaa mate, even though the deployment lasted a little more than Exodus, I think this is the best deployment I've seen (though I wasn't here for Castor).
Though, thankfully being Christmas, I've been out drinking for a large part of the last couple of days and missed a lot of the rollout

The "worst patch ever" question can't really be answered for at least another 5 or 6 days.
You won't even need to log on to find out, just check the number of similar posts on here in a week.
