Be patient .. *****ing and whining won't help. If youre unhappy with the service, don't use it.
Non-sense babling from someone who has no clue, just for the record, you pay for electric by the kilowatt hours used not by the month. Get your facts stright then try to flame someone.

As much as I don't want to whine... I need to point out an issue:
All the time that we can't log into the game - the game time goes on; after almost 2 years I can live with a day or two lost skills. However I'm responsible for POS which go offline, don't get loaded or unloaded... this screws up logistics almost beyond fixing... makes me lose days later on to sort it out and can lead to destruction of POS by pirates...
IF they do those fixes - they should freeze time for that period.
Howgh :)

Anyone who's been here a while knows that after all patches the server is a bit unstable. Ask anyone who's been here since the Cold War patch and they will tell you about the problems after the patching. This is not something new and is to be expected.
Don't forget that this is one of the best RPG's in the world, and the far most inovative one, which means it needs to be fine adjusted. With constant service, free updates etc, we should be very happy that the cost is only a mere 14 bucks a month. To me, that is dirt cheap.
And instead of yelling at CCP, why don't you support them? Many of them are probably doing alot of all-nighters just to fix the problems. Why don't you tell them how good of devs they really are (compared to other games E&B etc) and buy them a beer. I think that will help them better when they sit there one week from Christmas, reading 1 mill pages of logs etc.

#1 Expecting from who? So it's expected that proper testing and preperation won't be takin?
#2 I agree this is one of, if not the best MMO, hence why I play it. And maybe the 14.95 a month is nothing to you, others are not as lucky.
#3 I guess it's to much to ask from someone thats getting paid to do this, it's not like there doing this out of the kindness of there hearts, and btw i think they have had enough beers

it was tested but as ppl have mentioned the live server is different to test and therefore needs fine tuning which is what we are in now...
before you respond saying that i should shut the f up, i have 3 accounts 2 of which are currently stuck on loading screen, i also pay about ú30 to play this game and can't afford to throw that sort of cash away so i am p***ed off about it but having sat here through exodus and cold war i am well aware of the problems after patching

Take a deep breath, and relax..advice for me for than anyone else.
I just got EVE 2 days ago (right before RDR was released). The auto patcher didn't work...the patch was telling me it had a 'checksum' error, and the new version of the client was 'corrupt'.
Never mind. I figured it out, got it working. Played for a few hours - finished the tutorial (yay!). Now my character cannot log in, after getting stuck in a jumpgate.
I may well have sworn at my monitor, using language that would make a sailor blush...but then I popped a beer and thought - it's still better than the 2 years of SWG I played.
Be calm, be chilled, and let the dice roll - the dev's will fix it.

i'm afraid this really is serious... seen a statement that no other online game could handle 19k players on one server at a time - obviously this one can't either... if you can't, open a new server
i'm too on a trial account right now so there is no real money lost for me on this but i can assure you that this is not the best impression ccp could make and i doubt too many trials will become subscriptions after this mess
i've seen patches and (real free) upgrades on guildwars... and i've seen the problems there... it took them a day to fix or at least provide a playable environment... the structure of GW is very different of course, but i hope you get the point i am trying to make here

Well I am a trial user so I don't get too much mad, yet. Just a bit afraid by a game that looks so far more like eve-offline than anything. And actually frustrate me more than anything.

So... you have experience with 2 others patches that went wrong, so its not a problem if this one goes wrong as well ?
Someday you all (fanboys) will possibly wake up and understand it's not acceptable in any other activity to "release" such non-working product, free or not. What make you think it's ok is probably something like 15 years of using microsoft products. |

i would expect this for a patch but not for an expansion, as this is. this has happened plenty of times for other patches for other games, but not for an expansion. CCP should of thouroughly tested this out, before implementing this on the servers so that we could not play for 26 hours, then once they rid of all the major bugs and glitches; not all because that cant be expected. install it onto the server like they tried.

The view I take of it is this :-
Occasionally, you may get problems connecting. You may have bugs ingame. These tend to be ironed out, and judging by the posts on these boards, ironed out fairly quickly. At the very least, people seem to not actively want to hunt down the devs and burn them at the stake. This is a novelty for me.
If there is a few hours downtime, big deal. When it is up and running, it's all good.
Be patient, and give the devs some space to do their thing !

They're trying to fix it, reason the servers are down now.
Seriously, you expect a major content update not to cause stability issues? They even say to keep long skill training up when you log in.
CCP are hardworking people, they're doin their best to get the game back up, give em a break.

Yes you can expect that its called a pre tested expansion that still works with bugs and then they just add little patches like in every other video game.

Edited by: Rinadan Farhunt on 17/12/2005 21:04:22 Why the hell are you people saying that this is to be expected and so is alright? If you buy a brand new car and it hasn't been tested to see if it works and when you get up in the morning to go to work it doesn't start, so you phone a mechanic to get it fixed and he tells you that something is missing or broken, and you haven't even touched it yet, is that alright because its new? Of course not, you'd be back at the garage to complain, not sitting around saying, "Oh its alright because every other car this company makes doesn't work."

Just give this game a bloody break!
I just come from SWG, and there the devs have on the orders of the producers destroyed the game completely! A nice game thats now turned into a Ghost Game!
This game is in addition to being superb, the huge potential of becoming even better! if thats possible! and with the RMR it looks they have made it!
I have nothing against paying for a great expansion, but CCR are giving it away for free! Im sure the money you save on this more then pays back for your lost game time, while CCR is working day out and day in to fix the bugs for you!!
ANY bloody online game have their moments of problems. And definitely around the time of patching publishes and expansions! And if I know that the devs are sincerely working hard to fix it, im happy!
Also, another reason I went for EVE is because I knew that this game where played mainly by mature players, and not kidds and whiners! Complaining might sometimes be on its place (like in SWG, but there noone listened...) from time to time, but please! Let the devs get at least some days to work it out!!!

Well actually, recently when some idiot builders cut through the electricity and phone cables to our road, both the electricity company and phone company BOTH gave us a rebate on the time lost (only 2 days).
Also in the past when i had flaky ADSL (was on-off for about 3 weeks) the provider gave me 2 months free.

Possible solution for those unhappy with the new patch issues....
Get CCP to introduce a Freeze Account button. When you know theres to be a patch, freeze your account and leave eve for a week or two. No loss of subscription time and you can come back when the game is more stable. Not the best answer but a suggestion nether the less.

Quote: Anyway - what I wonder is why this upgrade was done in the first place if it clearly was not tested - and why is it taking so long to fix it? Normal business case, when you have unaccpetable system upgrade, is to roll it back to previous level (cold war) and then check what went wrong. After analyzing the problem(s), fix it and then do the upgrade again - succesfully.
Quote: You used the word "propably" there - You don't know how long it takes to fix the system or get the roll-back done - neither do I. So no telling which one would be faster...
hahahahha hypocrite. So you can know for an absolute fact the patch wasn't tested at all but can flame people who write probably
Oh and real life analogies ftl, not least because of the wide range of them used.
