Ever wanted to quickly and easily be able to browse an online, up-to-date, EVE ships database? One that allows you to directly compare ships, sort by any ship statistic, filter results by custom search queries, make subselections of your results and even pull up full ship details (description, special abilities, skill requirements & images) with the simple click of a mouse-button.
Well, I for one did. I looked around for a site that would satisfy my desires, but I wasn't able to find one. While there are plenty of sites that offer EVE ship statistics in some form or another, I found most of them to be too 'static', they offered little extra over what you can already do using showinfo in-game.
To fill this perceived 'void', I decided to build that online, up-to-date, EVE ships database myself. The result is ESSDB, accessible via the following URL:
http://essdb.milair.net/
In it's current v1.0 state it's feature list is as follows:- Ships DB contains all 200 player-pilotable ships currently in the 3796 EVE build
- Full descriptions, special abilities, required skills and statistics for each ship
- Dynamic interface, only show the stats you're interested in
- Sort results by any available ship statistic
- Filter results by ship type, race, tech level, 'faction' or a combination of either
- Mark ships you'd like to directly compare and easily filter out the rest
- Ship info windows (click on ship name) for 'casual' browsing
- Rewritten special abilities making them more consistent and less 'crytpic' than the texts CCP uses at times
It's kind of hard to explain the uses for ESSDB, my advice is just check it out, play a little with the interface to get a feel for it, and if you're anything like me, I'm sure you'll find it a pretty usefull resource. I'm planning to continue development of ESSDB, so any suggestions as to how it can be improved are welcome. The currently planned feature updates are:- Add a minimum of 2 images per ship to the ship info windows
- Add all subskills required for each pri/sec/ter skill shown in ship info windows
- Allow players to be able to upload (and save) their charsheet .xml file, giving them the option to apply skill-modifiers to all displayed ship stats
- Add user definable column presets
- Fix bugs
Updates will be posted to this thread, so stay tuned, and feel free to leave me comments / suggestions.

Good work.
May I also reccommend:
Object Inventory
I have been looking for a replacement to the outdated EVE Ship Comparer program which was so useful but haven't found anything similar yet. Lots of databases though. Also, many tools were lost when EVE-I went down.

Heh, the font is Arial, used on countless websites including eve-o, evenews, google, microsoft etc etc; nothing 'special' there.

Is there a database that includes the new NPC ships? I've seen them on the database that was provided in this topic, but I would really like to see the new resistances of them, since serpentis have obviously changed.

if I could get my hands on a DB / file containing the new NPC stats I could pretty easily expand ESSDB to include all the NPC ships aswell. That is, if you guys would like such a feature...

I suggest that when you add player skills, also add hardwiring implants which affect ship stats. Good job! ________________

Very cool Can you add one last column that would do the math to add/subtract and create the average of the total numbers at the end?

Excellent, although perhaps a bit sluggish performance wise (might be the connection here at my parents house though). Can't wait until you get some screenshots up too.

I presume you'd want this for resistances only? Wouldn't make much sense for most of the other columns. I'll look into adding such a column when viewing the "HP & Resists" only columns.

Has anyone else encountered performance issues? It's responding nice 'n smooth for me, although due to the relatively complex structure of the tables it generates it will take a while to actually download the pages if you're not on a broadband connection. As for screenshots, I'll be adding more as we go, it's a rather time-consuming practice. =)

Yep, it's the best ships database out there, there's just no substitute for that spreadsheet layout, makes ship comparisons so much easier and it's the one thing that keps me from using Jide's ship database. (Sorry Jide)

ESSDB has been updated with some slight changes introduced in the b3805 patch. I also have some good news, thanks to t20's latest RMR-edition data export, I will soon be incorporating ALL NPC ships into ESSDB aswell! Stay tuned...

Up you go! I've recently expanded my collection of faction ships to include all faction frigates currently in-game (except the Silver Magnate ), and four of the five pirate faction cruisers. So, I'll be adding screenshots of those, and many other ships, to ESSDB throughout the week.
Oh btw, please feel free to bump this thread every now and again if you find ESSDB usefull, it helps spread awareness throughout the playerbase. _________________________________________________________

Time for another bump to raise awareness for those fo you that have never heard of ESSDB before, check it out!
I'm up to 55 out of 200 ships having multiple images in their info window so far, so I'm gradually getting there. I'm still working on ESSDB and appreciate any and all feedback... so don't be shy, if you like it, please say so. _________________________________________________________

Updated to reflect some slight changes which were introduced with the Blood patch, ESSDB should be fully synced with the EVE b3896 build. Please post here if you find any errors.
On a sidenote, I have finished the coding which applies player skill & implant modifiers to all stats viewable with ESSDB. This includes general skill boosts, ship specific skill boosts, hardwiring implant boosts and pirate implant set boosts. Next on my list is implementing an easy way for people to add their charinfo to ESSDB so they can have it show char-specific modified stats... stay tuned. _________________________________________________________
