A rare mark one Rifter was recently discovered on a moon in the Edmalbrurdus system, apparently having crashlanded there during the Minmatar Uprising, over a hundred years ago!
The Mk1 Rifter, with fewer protrusions to obscure the classic Rifter silhouette, was discovered by a group of Republic University astrogeology students, on a moon exploration course.
"It obviously crashed in good condition!", said one excited Sebiestor girl. "My great-great-grandad invented the Rifter", said another. "There were no logs, or bodies, so it would seem the crew were able to abandon the ship in good order, and were rescued", said a Republic University instructor.
However, disaster struck, when a group of starship engineering students were sent to recover the Mk1.
"So, umm, we like, fixed up all the stuff that we thought looked broken?", said one of the engineering students. "And then we like, had some Mirkamurka whisky, to celebrate a job well done?", confessed another. "So, then Marilor got the great idea that we could fly the Mk1 off the moon", said the first. "Hey, you went along with it, and I didn't blurt your name to the Press, Matener", said the second. "We crashed it again!", confessed a third student, sobbing.
A second recovery operation, to lift the bent Mk1 from it's new crash site, is now underway, with the Mk1 to be placed in the museum on the University station. |

Survived not one but two crashes. Clearly built with more skill than those students displayed. |

Shame about the new ones. The students, that is. |

With a minmatar ship, how can you tell if it actually survived? They ALWAYS look like scrap metal. |

But that's the secret of Minmatar design, and why they're such terrors in the spacelanes.
The more you crash them, the better they fly.
That thing could probably solo the Golden Fleet by now... |

You compare the 'damage' to the blue print.
If the damage enhances it you engineered a jaguar! |

You know, logic tells us that we build stronger ships over time. Incidents like this shake my belief in logic. |

I am glad that these students are the future of the republic, with their drinking issues already, I don't have to worry about them making a spaceship that is a threat, since it will just crash into a moon. |

Republic ships don't seem to stay broken after you destroy them, so that thing could probably take a third crash landing and still fly.
On the bright side, their failure to fly it means there'll be one less Rifter for us to have to shoot.
This is also why Matari working for Holders don't get alcohol. Clearly, drinking to celebrate hard work paying off only results in bad ideas. |

Actually i think they design them to be recyclable even when they explode.
You blow it up, they take the surviving parts... a little elbow grease and some hammers... Bend it back into shape like a pair of old glasses... replace the parts that are a little too well cooked.... there you go... good as Minmatar new. Rather ingenious little savages arent they?
You've probably blown up the same rifter 6 or 7 times by now. =) ColonelNick, CEO, Providence Guard, Callsign: "Codeine" |
