Wait what? This isn't what you said on post #16.
Whitehound wrote:In what part of the world are hackers still being treated like they were some kind of heros? This already got boring in the 80s when they made movies like Wargames. I cannot believe hackers are still not being treated like ordinary criminals. Every Greenpeace supporter trespassing private property is. And to think they let this guy talk openly about hacking medical devices and cash machines. What is missing here are "experts" on knifes and hammers, who talk openly about stabbing a man in his chest and hammering a cash machine open... This should be treated as aiding and abetting in a crime. Instead, this guy gets to make the news even after his death.
In any case, I'll take the answer as no to the question I asked and just leave it at that. It's all I needed to know.

Just because you stole a cup cake out of your mother's oven does not mean you are a thief. It means you did not actually steal anything, but it was placed there for you to take. You may only think you are a thief.
Same with hacking. Just because you reverse engineered a device does not mean you have hacked it. It might just mean you have analysed it or taken it apart without breaking any laws. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |

Look, I'm not getting dragged into this idiotic argument. That answer already told me everything I needed to know so anything you say at this point is just falling on deaf eyes. If you would like to have last post go ahead, I don't have any need to respond to anything else you say. Out of Pod is getting In the Pod - Join in game channel IG OOPE |

Slade Trillgon wrote:Show me the official definition of hacker lmao!!! Calm down. We are beyond the point of discussing what is criminal and what is not. The hacker who was found dead claimed to have hacked pacemakers and that he could use it to kill people, and that he hacked cash machines to get at people's money. These are obviously criminal motives.
I then do not care for who calls themselves a hacker, but is not one. For all I care can anyone call themselves whatever they want. I am only talking about hacking as being a criminal offence. I am well aware of the fact that some call it hacking when they are only typing on a keyboard, which is why I said that I am hacking cash machines, too, when I "hack in four numbers into a cash machine". Of course does "to hack" have many meanings in our language. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |

He did no such thing.
"Jack experimented on two machines he bought online and shared his findings with the ATM manufacturers before he shared them with the world. Both manufacturers instituted fixes before Jack's presentation."
We have already met at an impasse, one man's evil is another man's good I guess. But the above proves that he did nothing illegitimate. If he had, I figure the manufacturers or the local prosecutor would have pressed charges, but they did not. But who am I to argue with Whitehound himself, the all knowing white knight of the world
On a side note. I work primarily with senior citizens and I brought this up to many of them and guess what, they were not scared and they were actually interested in the topic and a couple that have pace makers were actually glad that someone found it out so it could possibly be corrected. I emphasized that there is no need to worry about someone cracking their pacemaker. Imagine that I used the proper term to call malicious hacking what it is... cracking. |

You started the thread with handing out tinfoil hats. I am only stating my opinion here, which has not changed. You have my respect for not scaring the elderly but reassuring them that you have no intentions of scaring them with the story on hacked pacemakers. Almost unbelievable, but it seems as if you have learned something from my comments. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |

Just FYI, your posting had nothing to do with my actions. I am a wellness educator. Everything I said above happened before this discussion started, actually the day it hit the news to be exact. Do not hold yourself in such high regards, you have taught me nothing in this thread. |
