Edited by: Lexington Cabot on 18/08/2003 05:53:41 my only issue with the mods has gotten better lately. And that is what is said when a thread is locked. There should always be professionalism and respect.
Some say respect is earned, but no matter what, if one side doesn't give it at some point, the other never will.

Endureth, your post was constructive, respectful, definitely not trolling, and completely useful. We need more people like you to contribute meaningful replies to current threads. According to the current forum rules, you have not violated three of them. I am not being sarcastic.
I agree, the level of customer service, and type of moderation is rather sad. I hope things change for the better. If there wasn't a problem, or if customers felt great about the current treatment they receive... we wouldn't have so many supporters so early in the 'revolution'.
Cheers

It doesn't matter who does the *click* the reasons stay the same. If you want to change forum moderation then you need to change CCP's forum policies, not the people enforcing them. Don't shoot the messanger.

This is my last post for this evening, and I have a few comments:
1) A couple people have mentioned it to me, and I have to agree... when a moderator says *click*, it sends one strong message: ARROGANCE. "ha ha, I am a moderator and I am in control *click*"
2) Only part of the problem is the current forum rules. The other part is the way in which some of the moderators make decisions, and carry out their actions. EVE is retail, and requires a retail-quality solution... FREE support isn't cutting it.
3) As for "don't shoot the messenger"... well I'm sorry friend, you are quite passed the point of messenger when you have become judge, jury, and executioner.

"so many?"
According to your own original post, you have 27. There's at least 5,500 people who play this game, because I've seen that many people online all at once... the number's probably treble that, allowing for not everyone playing at the same time.
27 out of 17,000 is such a tiny percentage as to be completely irrelevant.

And I will so enjoy the day that you have a MAJOR problem like getting billed twice on your credit card, get no help anyplace else post on the forums out of desperation only the be told *click*.
Besides 27 people so far out of the few players that fequent the forums is not bad for something only a day or so old. My corp alone has has over 10 people leave due to ccp's poor customer relations. Im sure if you asked about the general player base you will find an average of 1 in 4 people arnt happy at all.
A good idea to highlight this is if CCP added a form to ask for a reason why people cancel their account, this would show up what needs to be improved if eve is to actually grow its playerbase. "Death Before Dishonor" |

If only everyone put as much into the game as they do whining then we would have so much content we wouldnt be worried about the moderators.......

Let's see... So far there are a good 2 troll attempts, an open flame and the wish that a person gets hit by a bus.
The fact that the those involved haven't been warned (especially the bus comment person) speaks volumes about the moderation. The probability that the thread will get locked for flaming, where it also conveniently falls off the page, speaks volumes as well...

I wonder if you guys know that you ruin the reputation of EVE with your "Revolution". What should new pilots think about EVE when they enter the forum for the first time? "A game where players rebels against the forum rules - no tanks, i will look for another game without such trolls."
Personaly, i feel myself attacked by this "Revolution". I am a volunteer and i try to help CCP to improve the game. All volunteers spent a lot of their time to help YOU - the players. You are *****ing the wrong people with you "Revolution". The Forums have their rules. You can read them - if you dont accept them, please dont post here.

I think that if they had the money to do it, they would have improved customer support already.
They're using volunteers for moderation and Polaris, have only a few GM's in game, and generally are trying to automate as much as possible; it all points to lack of resources, which is understandable, all MMOG's do this.
You are collecting signatures expecting that they will improve customer support because 2, 3, 27, 500, 1000 people signed, asking for it? Where are they gonna get the funds for this? |

You actually do a good job as a Bug Hunter. And from what I've seen a better job as a moderator.
I'm not saying the forum rules suck with my support. I'm saying they're being applied...err unevenly based on author and mood of the person reading them.

So what do you propose is done? Replace the Moderators with Artifically Intelligent Automations?
As long as Humans are fulfilling the role of Moderator, there will _always_, ALWAYS be a hint of bias or favouritism. There's no other way about it.
Although it does bring up another point...I wonder if the people complaining about the Moderation here would be willing to give up their free time in order to do it themselves. Hmm.

Then explain why the 'ghey' comment, open trolings and the bus comment remain when the moderators have shown no reluctance to go so far as to edit a person's signature?

Did it for 3 years in another MMORPG currently on the market.

I'm sorry you feel that way. But saying nothing about problems that exist isn't the way to get them fixed.
You have Huge Secure Containers because someone "whined" about the container size during a CSM meeting (despite the same complaint being made repeatedly since the secure containers were introduced). Hrm...

Discussing forum moderation is not allowed on the forum. The topic is "EVE General Discussion" and recurring and deliberate deviations from this topic is disruptive to the fundamental purpose of this forum.
That a minimal clique of the forum community is unhappy with their ranting and trolling being moderated is sad, but as pointed out numerous times --- if you have comments or complaints regarding forum moderation you should contact [email protected] and the Mod Squad/Pann will read your e-mail.
We have a number of rules for these fora to keep them civil, so that John Doe player can come in here and join the discussion about EVE at any time without feeling threatened by the "forum elite".
The members of the Mod Squad will enforce the rules of the forum, please do not get yourself into trouble.
