Fair dues they try hard, and are obviously good DJ's, but can we please please please get someone commentating who is more experienced in PvP, hell even Eve.
It's making eve-radio look very poor imo.
I'm terribly sorry, I'll have the fee you paid to tune in tonight returned immediately to you.

Imperial Armageddon falls under the "all ships" category...
Doesn't it ALSO fit under the 'faction ships' category? Given that it's an Amarr faction ship?

Just to let you all know myself and DJ-XMan will be back later on today (as its past midnight) - Friday 7pm to 1am - bringing you all the live coverage from the fight. Along with Urban, Levin and Ifni and maybe Stavros too if he's around, who will give you the indepth analysis from their PVP minds. Urban will also be trying to interview some of the players after their battles on teamspeak so I can play that on the air and we can get their side of things. Now as the fighting doesnt kick off until 8pm we have DJ-XMan doing a live mix set for an hour to kick things off. He is a professional DJ in real life and well worth a listen if you like your dance music.
We will be on the following server all night: http://zeus.gamingradio.net:8000 (stick that in winamp > play url) We will also be on the normal Eve Radio main servers from 7pm to 10pm at least, possibly all the way through till 1am Again use the PLAY URL feature in Winamp or other compatible media program.
http://s2relay.eve-radio.gamingradio.net:8000 (128kbit / stereo) http://s3relay.eve-radio.gamingradio.net:8000 (128kbit / stereo) http://s4relay.eve-radio.gamingradio.net:8000 (128kbit / stereo) http://69.46.23.165:8000 (24kbps / mono)
The first three normally get load balanced by http://broadband.eve-radio.com:8000 but we are having problems with DNS on that domain at the moment, although you are welcome to try and connect using that too.
If you have any questions or problems and want to chat to someone please find us in-game at eve-radio, please note the hyphen. We also have a irc channel at irc.coldfront.net #eve-radio
Regards

hey hats off for eve-radio. first time i tuned into you guys and the music is great!
sometimes the dj's don't know much about eve but thats ok. Galaxion from bob provides excellent reports here on these forums.
Also the commentary is getting better (although i laughed hard when one of you guys was talking about tanking hull).
great stuff! :) i am having fun.
kudos to CCP for organising!

no offence here but if someone actually steps up to do the work for the community and gets the label "official" (afterall they were the only ones permitted to the battlefield and had lockrights etc) that dude should know all ships, their possible fittings and all alliances.
To call a wolf a t1 ship is one thing, to claim a megathron is generally shieldtanking and therefore signing its deathpapers right once the unhardened shields drop to 0% is another.
While the guys doing this should receive no blame i think with some more planning ahead this could have been handled far more professional. Afterall its "e sport" and you dont like your favourite footie team beeing commented by guys who dont even know the game involves a ball either or ?
Note again that this is no attack on the persons actually spending their time to offer this free service but more a request to handle such things in future in a different way with ppl who are actually "in the know" and can give a more accurate picture, especially if everyone on his dog links in on the stream - warcraft 3 with their livestreams give a very very good example on how to handle such unique uber tournament events could / should be handled. Infact the helios could have frapsed the whole thing for an official get "all matches in a box" pack for the players who missed the whole fun and excitement to dl from the video section.

Todays truth. It's unproffessional in many ways. To short time between the announcement were made to when the fights starts (alliances didnt have time to do internal trials to get the best team possible), placing it during christmas where many ppl cant play due to beeing with familys e.t.c. Regular weekends would have been better imo. Lag in the combat arena (heard some guys could hardly activate thier mods, wtf is that Devs?). And last but not least, the small fact that PvP in EVE isnt about fights where competerors know the ranges, number of ships, shiptypes e.t.c. in forehand.
Good idea though, lets hope something like this is organized next year, but hopefully some of the concerns above will be looked at then.

Well, CCP can't even provide a lag free arena for a 3vs3 - What hope is there for any other portion of this event?

Originally by: Zachios Primos while i agree that it is uncalled for to implemented a rule mid tournament, it was still implemented for all warp outs; at least for the zealot(or whatever it was) as the post i linked to states
It was the zealot that flew for the MC fight, which was quite an early round. AFAIK, the rule has been inforced on every occasion apart from the SMASH dominix, but his humiliation should be enough for flying with 7 stabs into a PVP tournament
As for the mach getting popped, it was gonna die anyway, does it really matter?
Yes it does Eyeshadow as the Dominix left alive was IN OUR MATCH and as such we had no idea this unknown rule was ever enforced?!?
Point is that Chow knew that he wouldn't be able to beat them, but who's to say he couldn't have dragged out the match 3-4 minutes and saved the Macharial and loose on the ship ratio? What if Chow accidently went outside 100km from Eris, does his ship get destroyed too? Chow knew the tournament was delayed (we didn't start on time) and just wanted to admit the defeat (he wrote GG in local before even warping).
Why aren't all ships destroyed as soon as you loose? Like a guy tanks the enemy alone - his ship should get blown up too when match is over as well, where's the difference?
CCP/LeMonde only have one fair choice and that's to replace the Macharial - update the rules and apologize for screwing up. But it would require 'someone' to man up and I highly doubt this is possible, look at the track record for CCP and admitting mistakes *yawn*
*Yawn* There was two time extensions on the match where a manticore, vagabond, and rattlesnake were pounding away my tank that eventually ran out of cap and died. I could have warped out and got the devs to kill my ship but after the they gave a second time extension I knew the ship was being tested to its limits and was going to die because there was no way it was killing the ships attacking it. So far haven't heard of a match being lost by lack of ships clearly a 3 NBSI team vs 1 ASCN Macharial the end would be a win by the ship count rule, but instead time was extended, not once but twice, in the end the Machariel dies Think moral of this rambling is any ship brought out in this event will either die as a loser or go home a winner.
Thank you Angels for having this wonderful ship and thanks for building a shipyard in our backyard that drops them.

hey weco, i think you're wrong.
i think this tournament was put on at the best time possible. when people are on their christmas vacations and have days off to actually play.
no matter when the tournament was scheduled, people would ***** about it. in case you didn't notice, anyone with a 9 to 5 job in the united states time zones can pretty much kiss the tournament goodbye.
let me give props to the ccp people putting this thing on.
let me give the advice that you listen, but don't put much stock into what a lot of the people who are whining here say. it is evident that you are trying very hard, and is should also be apparent to this audience that things will go wrong and mistakes will be made.
this tournament is run just fine.
I've seen other tournaments run badly. This one isn't.

Oh well, seeing as I am crap at commentating you lot might as well not bother tuning in tonight... and by the way, the Megathron shield tanking comment was Xman not me... as for the Wolf, I fly Caldari and Gallente so I dont know every other races ships instantly. Apologies. Plus after 6hrs on Wednesday and 9hrs on Thursday I am fairly tired. Its tiring enough doing a normal 3hr slot.
Also I dont do PVP yet, I tried and got whooped so I am biding my time and building my skills and ships up. I have only been playing since April and spend most of my time mining and running my corp. My apologies about there not being anyone better to do the commentary but I was asked to do it by the managers at Eve Radio. I was better yesterday than the first night and hopefully will be even better for tonight. We do have PVP experts who analyse the battles and then send me the mp3 and I play it, so are they crap too, or is it just me and Xman?

Well, Amarr championship not-withstanding, this is the first time they've done this on short notice and it's pretty decent.
Ay, I have problems with the way things have been chosen to be done and handled (my own personal gripe is that you had to choose team before knowing times - would have solved ALOT of problems imho), but it means the next PvP alliance competition might be alot better, and besides, it's a larf.

Personally I thought the commentary was hilarious.
Considering the short notice and the fact that you guys were on all day is pretty mental. My eyes were bleeding just from reading irc alone so god knows how you felt.
If anyone gives you abuse just tell them where to stick it.
I'll be listening tonight for sure ;)

as i stated your personal involvement and workload is outstanding and props to you for sticking through it for 2 days already and a 3rd tonight. My only argument was that in future (if we ever see such a fine event again) your manager might want to assign a commentor who is a pvp expert (backed up by your statement that youre not into pvp yet and dont know all ships etc).
In no way i tried to attack you, the person behind it- apologies if it sounded like that, but you wont send a synchrone swimming commentor to run the european championsleague finals either, right ? No amount of expert files (and there is so many opinions as there is ppl in this game) will coverup the live stream.
However keep up the reliable work.

I haven't listened to the eve radio commentary much, but respect for those taking their own time to let us all know what is going on. If you arent familiar with all the ship names, there is a setting you can select on your overview where you can add ship types.
Open your overview setting, go to ships, and enable ship type. When you see ships in space now, it will have their ship type after their name. Now even if you don't recognize the ship, you will still be able identify it correctly.
