I got most of the FRAPs in hi res widescree (1200x720) from the last few matches and will try to throw them all together sometime this week.
LeMonde stated that this will most likely be a yearly event and that next time there will be at least 2-4 weeks notice. Apparently, he did most of this on a spur of the moment decision and he and Eris were the primary folks we all have to thank for it. -

Well fought guys, it's great to see a SMaK bred member (Annu) representing my old folks in Ushra'Khan.
Even better, another SMaK bred member (Alasse) came through to win the thing.
I feel like a proud father or something.
Good Game!!!

Originally by: Zachios Primos while i agree that it is uncalled for to implemented a rule mid tournament, it was still implemented for all warp outs; at least for the zealot(or whatever it was) as the post i linked to states
It was the zealot that flew for the MC fight, which was quite an early round. AFAIK, the rule has been inforced on every occasion apart from the SMASH dominix, but his humiliation should be enough for flying with 7 stabs into a PVP tournament
As for the mach getting popped, it was gonna die anyway, does it really matter?
Yes it does Eyeshadow as the Dominix left alive was IN OUR MATCH and as such we had no idea this unknown rule was ever enforced?!?
Point is that Chow knew that he wouldn't be able to beat them, but who's to say he couldn't have dragged out the match 3-4 minutes and saved the Macharial and loose on the ship ratio? What if Chow accidently went outside 100km from Eris, does his ship get destroyed too? Chow knew the tournament was delayed (we didn't start on time) and just wanted to admit the defeat (he wrote GG in local before even warping).
Why aren't all ships destroyed as soon as you loose? Like a guy tanks the enemy alone - his ship should get blown up too when match is over as well, where's the difference?
CCP/LeMonde only have one fair choice and that's to replace the Macharial - update the rules and apologize for screwing up. But it would require 'someone' to man up and I highly doubt this is possible, look at the track record for CCP and admitting mistakes *yawn*
*Yawn* There was two time extensions on the match where a manticore, vagabond, and rattlesnake were pounding away my tank that eventually ran out of cap and died. I could have warped out and got the devs to kill my ship but after the they gave a second time extension I knew the ship was being tested to its limits and was going to die because there was no way it was killing the ships attacking it. So far haven't heard of a match being lost by lack of ships clearly a 3 NBSI team vs 1 ASCN Macharial the end would be a win by the ship count rule, but instead time was extended, not once but twice, in the end the Machariel dies Think moral of this rambling is any ship brought out in this event will either die as a loser or go home a winner.
Thank you Angels for having this wonderful ship and thanks for building a shipyard in our backyard that drops them.
haha ASCN were owned :)

First off, Congratulations to BoB and KAOS for their achievments. And mad props to ROCK team for using imperial ships (unfortunate about the missed remote rep that made you loose semi).
Second, Congratulations to CCP. Overall a great tourny, much fun for all of EvE, including all of us who didn't fight in it.
Third, mad props to EVE-RADIO and Chribba. The live coverage was great. That the commentators hugely lacked PvP knowledge really didn't matter, it was rather more fun. Your efforts to cover the tourny were just great.
So, as to some negative things. The lag problem was really a big mistake by CCP, but hopefully can help the devs in future work to reduce lag in EVE.
Originally by: LeMonde stating rules Pod-killing another competitor on purpose will result in disqualification.
Our team pod-killed another player, as they had a smartbomb fitted that were used as missile defence. They got disqualified. If that podding wasn't seen as "not on purpose", I wonder what is.
I'm also upset that they arena layout were changed, causing our bhaalgorn to get stuck on a roid. Even if it was also a very big pilot mistake, it was a bad thing.
So, some more thoughts, a bit on what Evil Thug said earlier in another thread... I'm highly surprised about the lack of 'out-of-the-box' thinking and changes of tactics. Exuro using a Curse, and KAOS with their nos-navythron was fun to see. ROCK team changing their ships was also a joy to see, and sad they crashed out. And same thing goes for our team. We really tried to play the game First we had a bye. Second fight we used a standard raven. Third fight we used a Navy raven, which admittedly chocked our opponents there and gave us the edge to progress. Fourth fight we really changed the team, from CNR+minmatar hac to Bhaalgorn + caldari HAC. A move that I'm certain would have paid off without the error mentioned above, and I'm certain that the opponents got really worried when the ships entered the arena.
Overall, I'm very happy with this event, but still upset about how our team went out way too early. Drink up, shoot in. Let the beating begin. Distributor of pain. Your loss becomes my gain...

Congrats to BoB for the win, and to LeMonde, the ISDs and Eve-Radio for pulling off the event.
Would be really cool if it could be expanded upon next year to make it an olympic sized event. With tournaments for all viable ship classes, and maybe even a variation in events with some racing, mining and hauling events.
Medals for the winners and a grand prize for the alliance with the most medals at the end!
Maybe thats a bit too much |

too lazy to read all of this so someone might have said it, but in the aegis vs merc coalition fight movie that was posted in the begining of this thread, you can see how merc coalition would have won if their thron pilot had waited to turn his armor hardeners on... he had them on while his shields were getting hit - and he ran outa cap just as the temp was gunna go down ><
no cap = no guns
good fight, nice comeback :D

I have to say your a tard. You obviously have no clue. ASCNs mach in the fight against NBSI tanked around 120,000 damage in 13 minutes. The match was extended not once, but twice. So why don't you try just once to keep your flaming remarks to yourself. These championships were awesome and a hell of a lot of fun. Don't need pinheads like you without a clue in here smacktalking.

I have to agree, I have never been so immersed in a game like I was during this tournament. Listening to the EVE radio commentary and talking and betting amongst corp members while the fights were going on was nothing short of the best gaming experience I've had all year. Thanks to both the pilots and the EVE-Radio for broadcasting the event. Fleshreaper Inc. Representative |

It's been mention many times already, but if you haven't already found it: 1. Wyvern(Caldari Mothership) + 2 Caldari Nayv Raven 2. Chimeara (Caldari Carrier) + 2 Caldari Nayv Raven 3.(2 teams, each got) Caldari Nayv Raven + 2 Caldari Navy Caracal
So, no 'unique' items handed out this time, although the mothership/carrier is worth alot...

a vast amount of corps got hit by lag so bad that the outcome can't be 100% correct, judges admitting lag after.....the harm has allready been done, no refunds, no rematches, no nothing, on a tournament of this size i am really dissapointed in the quality of the event.

LOL? Who were these "vast amount" of corps, GK? I know that Exuro got hit with some pretty harsh lag - but I also believe that their opponents got hit with it aswell.
So, where's the grievance?

We got hit by lag very hard in one fight, cost us a cerberus we would otherwise not have lost.
Who cares ??
Lag is to be expected and hits both sides equally, i'm just glad they did something about it once it came up.
The event was done extremely well and the issues that came up were handled.

i heard of a few but only when the more popular allainces got in to to much lag trouble they moved to another system, VC itself got hit by lag itself, myself never got to activate my 6th launcher, my first 5 activating after atleast 30 seconds, shield booster got active when i was below 50% armor even almost in stucture...then i got my first shield boost. lag in the beginning of the fight was a few seconds, but tribal souls launched drones at once and i was as good as stuck. this i call pretty severe lag...and ccp are noobs to hold a event like that in a system wich shares a node with a heavily populated area. heard of atleast 5 corps including oiurselves that got hit by lag. i was about to tear certain persons head off even if i asked to stop the match when my modules were not activating.

You have got to be kidding, that's just mindblowingly ignorant and paranoid..
They moved the Tournament after the day's matches were finished.. Would you prefer they keep it in the horribly laggy system after they see it isn't working, clearly it was all a conspiracy to screw over the little guy and cater to the every need and desire of the "popular alliances", which are obviously all filled with GMs and Devs who spawn ISK and flowers for all their members.

Edited by: Draggonetti on 06/01/2006 14:38:04 i can't log in with my main, Global Killer, but calling me ignorant and paranoid is over the top, let me use lemondes words in this. Global: lemonde, i wanta rematch, my modules did not activate, to much lag lemonde: i am sorry we had no verification of lag, rules say tribal goes to next round. a few more lines followed but they are irrelevant
ok so i was ****ed off they didn't admit any lag, next match i heard of they were getting lag, witha more popular alliance judges started to admit the lag...ignorant, paranoid? no just silly coincidence, think of it what you want news realeases, day one day two, not any talk about vc even tho we probably had one of the quickest victorys in the tournament and two flawless victorys with no losses and a 65 second match on the first day, regardless who the opponents were, it sucks, now call me ignorant and paranoid all you want, personaly i don't think those words can be applied to me as i am only stating that the outcome of the tourny wasn't 100% correct when battles haven't been fought on their best capabilities. not saying that the people who won did not deserve it as they did good fighting. atleast the gm's could have been admitting the lag when it started, and no, things were only changed after a few corps suffered from this. i felt discraced to go down that fast due to simple lag when i could have given a so much more entertaining fight. In all honesty, because i have a big mouth i can't leave it and not continue this discusion, i am not here to nag, i was just going to make one post to show my frustration, but don't throw oil on a burning fire.

I think there should be a number of these tournaments, spaced out, to find the top of each and weed out the weak, then you can have a "clash of the Titans" to finish it, with the top 3 from each tourny hacking away at each other, but 32 out of 100 when some of the ones not included are top PVPers is a bit odd. |
