I'm running this:
[Myrmidon, Myrm V2] Radioisotope Explosive Hardener I Radioisotope Explosive Hardener I Radioisotope Kinetic Hardener I Radioisotope Thermic Hardener I Damage Control II Medium Armor Repairer II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Drone Navigation Computer I Omnidirectional Tracking Link I Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
Drone Link Augmentor I 250mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Caldari Navy Plutonium Charge M 250mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Caldari Navy Plutonium Charge M 250mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Caldari Navy Plutonium Charge M 250mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon, Caldari Navy Plutonium Charge M [empty high slot]
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I Medium Nanobot Accelerator I
Hobgoblin II x5 Hammerhead II x5
And I'm trying to get to a Dominix. My drone skills are fairly decent, however I'm not too sure what direction to take when it comes to armor tanking. For a Dominix what are some good skills to focus on? |

Hull Upgrades 5 is a must for T2 Hardeners. Cap Skills to run your setup. Most important of all Sentry Drones for DPS.

T2 hardeners and the armor compensation skills (armor comp skill for each resist)
If you don't have either T2 sentries or T2 heavy drones, get at least one of the two ASAP. FOR THE DESU!!! |

About the armor comp skills, aren't they worthless for active hardeners? They state bonuses for when they aren't turned on. |

I've taken a look in EFT and compared eanm's to DC II. There doesn't seem to be much of a difference. Maybe I'm misunderstanding how to use an eanm. |

It gives more resists, but suffers stacking. If using multiple enams, swap one for dc. You'll usually end up using a hardner to fill some resist hole before having enough enams for stacking to set in though. |

I didn't think to use EANMs and DCs together. That acutally gives me about 6% more resistance with my skill set. Thanks for that pointer. |

You only need those for missions against drones or mercenaries though, which are rare. |

Depends on the situation. If you are talking generally what are the armor comps good for, it is boosting the specific resist on an EANM. EANM and EANP are 2 standard low-slot fittings for most (cruiser and above) of my armor tanked PvP boats. Not having a resist hole is very very nice for staying alive longer. The same applies to rats which deal rainbow damage. Sleepers and incursions HAVE to be omni-resisted otherwise you die, plain and simple.
If you are talking how useful it is for missioning, running specific active hardners, then the answer is not at all.
TL:DR. If you want to mission and will tank specifically with active hardners, don't bother. If you are asking general knowledge about what the skill actually does benefit then see above. |

The armor compensation skills are worth training. A level 4 BS tank can consist of LAR (large armor rep), DC II, 2 x hardener II, and an eanm II. Your other 2 or 3 lows being damage mods. The eanm will gain the benefit of your armor compensation skills.
Also, if/when you fit for pvp you will probably be omnitanking. Often this will consist of 1 or 2 x 1600 plates, dc, and 2 eanms. The armor compensation skills then become more beneficial.
There are so many skill to train in eve and it can be daunting. However, buying these skills and training each to 3 will not tanke much time really and it is worth it.
Other than that as others have said you want to prioritize a tech II tank (tech II resist mods and tech II repper mods) for missions, before you train tech II weapons. The idea being to first keep your ship in one piece, and following that to make it shine.
For you that means having a tech II LAR, tech II hardeners and tech II eanm. Also, max skills that increase your cap stability (energy systems op, energy management). Then for a Domi I suggest using tech II sentries before training tech II heavys. Heavy drones are very slow. Unless you are pulling angel mission all the time with the rats spawning or flying right on top of you you will go nuts waiting for the heavy drones to plod out to the rats. |
