Afternoon folks,
Was looking for a bit of expert advice on which route to take with regards to ship skill training for the present and the future. Most of my current skills lie in the Amarr skill tree but I am pretty capable of piloting Minmatar ships, shield fitted etc.
I must be honest and say that I am starting to lose a little faith in Amarr. The Legion has nothing DPS wise on the Proteus/Tengu whilst the Machariel seems to be the best option for the current Guristas space as to which I am inhabiting.
Shield tank's also seem to get it a lot easier, Shield Boost Amplifier's making up a large proportion of this and the fact that Armor modules require low slots, thus limiting the amount of damage mods one can fit.
Would I be better training into Minmatar, shield's and variable ammo damage types, or does future patches bring hope for Amarr and armor?
Cheers folks. |

You should never lose faith in Amarr!
The Legion outganks the Proteus at any kind of useful range and even vs the Tengu it does quite good if you happen to not shoot something with a super high em and super low kinetic resistance(like guristas).
With sufficient skills in armor tanking, cap, gunners and other support skills, amarr hulls tanking great, even while fitting 3-4 heat sinks and 2-3 Tracking computers in the med slots. Amarr ships are mostly gunships they perform very good at a huge range spectrum(different to most projectile and hybrid weapon platforms) and they will get noticeable better with higher SP numbers in the relevant areas.
This is a small vid I made for the amarr BS balance thread 2 months ago, demonstrating the ability's of amarr hulls for pve a bit: http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1306/New_NAPOC_Smuggler_Interception.mkv
Also it would help if you leave guristas space, they are the worst npcs for laser hulls, because they have huge EM resistances and prefer long range(where you crystals generally got a huge amount EM damage and very little thermal damage). Never lose faith in Amarr. Take a look at the new navy Harbi, the NOmen, the bonus coming to both ARs and AARs, the bonus to med beams, the new dual rep Deimos coming and the standing OPness of scorch for long point kiting. <3 |

Against Guristas, use a drone-heavy ship such as Arbitrator, Prophecy, Armageddon. This neutralizes much of the EM/TH dependancy with lasers. Once you skills with lasers are good enough, you can just use the raw power of lasers to burn through resists - it's not optimal, but it works.
For pvp, Amarr offers a lot of good options. People are just now starting to realize how godly Navy Omen can be, there's a ton of awesome support and fleet ships, powerful cap warfare ships, mid range kiters and more. They're in every way equal to the other three races, no matter what others tell you.
Plus when you see full broadside on the new Apocalypse, you instantly fall in love with it. <3 |
