The following mail has been received by the ISS leadership.
>>>>> 2005.12.28 19:34 Count-
You don't know me directly, but you have probably already heard of me. I have come to be the majority shareholder in a corp called ISSB - ISS Boraelis Outpost. Due to the diligence of myself and my partners, we have managed to sell several hundred of these shares on the open market. Word is now out that some Borealis shares are "questionable" and rumors are spreading that Borealis is a fake. Many are beginning to believe that ISS is involved directly in the scam.
I have an offer for you. Pay me 1.5b and I will transfer the remaining 680 shares to you. At this point the corp will be disbanded and you won't hear from us again. Decide not to pay and we will continue to sell and give away these shares and will issue thousands more. You do the math. Furthermore, be advised that we have infiltrated the ISS at the highest levels. Fail to pay and the construction location of Borealis will be revealed to all of Eve.
I look forward to your prompt response.
Ore Hound <<<<
In light of this, we STRONGLY urge all pilots, corporations and alliance considering a private purchase of Borealis shares, to ensure that you are buying *genuine* Borealis shares and not mis-spelt ones.
Unsurprisingly, Ore Hound belongs to an NPC corporation and cannot be directly attacked. Nevertheless, we can at least warn you all not to have any dealings with him, or ever to allow him into your alliance. Since he's no doubt the alt of somebody, that's little help, but it's all we can do.
Naturally ISS will not be paying his ransom demand; and rest assured that genuine "ISS Borealis Outpost" shares retain their worth. To anyone already caught by this scam, we offer our deepest sympathies; unfortunately it's just no feasible for us to pre-emptively create all possible fake corps (Boraelis, Boreallis, Broealis) and prevent anyone from pulling this sort of trick. All we can do is post a public warning and hope that nobody else gets caught.

As an expansion precaution on Baldour's post:
Anyone wishing to buy or sell shares with ISS, be they outposts or otherwise, should take the time to carefully read through any offers. Also, shares are announced publicly by ISS representatives.
At last check that I noticed (this could be false mind you), I do believe **ALL** ISSBO shares have been sold.
Also, anyone claiming that they are selling shares on behalf of ISS should be investigated thoroughly before commiting :)

A petition is in progress. This post is merely a public warning to everyone else; although he can damage (or attempt to damage) ISS reputation, it's other people who have actually wasted money on his fake shares.
Apropos of which, I encourage anyone who has bought "Boraelis Outpost" shares to also petition, on the grounds that he was impersonating an ISS official. Hopefully you can get your ISKs back.

Correct, impersonating another character or entity is forbidden by EULA.
(though I have gotta say it's pretty smart).
