Edited by: Jiggy on 30/12/2005 07:43:10 I counted 5 free slots out of 320(16 stations) for ME research within 7 jumps of Kador Prime.
Kador isnt exactly hopping, so I'm wondering if it's worse elsewhere?
(it's even worse for copying, all slots taken with 7-8days minimum wait time)

Yeah, less slots in total, but they're all communal (spelling?). Just organize your list by the time left in the research and choose a slot that only has an hour or two remaining. You job will be pending while the other finishes and then start right away. You don't need to wait for the other person to deliver their job before yours starts.

Lowest time left is 2days, only ~5% is under 6days, and its worse for copying.

It's as bad or worse elsewhere too. In Verge Vendor there are no free ME slots and the waiting times are currently about a two days at minimum.
On the other hand for PL research there are 10-15 slots free on almost every lab station. And for copying there are several stations where at least one free slot can be found.
The 20/20/10 split between ME/PL/Copying is a model example of bad game design, makes you wonder if there's even one dev in manufacturing business. Especially the 20 slots reserved for PL research is really uncomprehensible. Based on my experince on the usability of ME/PL the split should be 35/10/5.

Want a dedicated lab? I'll make enquiries about getting one of our members to fire up a lab array for you. It'll cost some, but assuming they're not too intensive, it'll not be a killer price, and exclusive access is an option. -- Lyrus Associates is recruiting

In the region around Rens I found 7 slots that were going to complete within 24 hours. I used 4 of them for my own projects which will each last 3 weeks. I don't care if my project doesn't start right away, each of them will start sometime today. -----

I am more happy that I can search for them without having to fly around and the pending for a job is nice plus because there is no cancel button people will be using them instead of hoarding them, so it will balance out here soon. And the seperate slots for the different functions are nice as well.

Low sector space amazingly enough did not have a shortage of available lab slots. I found two stations in low sector space that had all 20 slots avaialble :)
So, you need to get adventersome, get your corp together and gang on down. Put your BP0s in there and leave them for the time, make and event and go get them back.
Move around and don't be afaid to go into low sector space.

i'm going to assume thats 4 projects taking a total of 3 weeks per project. this means that those 4 slots are now tied up for the next 21 days. Let be hypothetical and say someone else notices the other 3 slots and ties them up for the next 21 days. Where does this leave person C? without a labslot for a pretty long while, thats where.
in conclusion (again): more slots plz

If you get the remote research skill you could use a low sec lab in the same area with out having to go there. The researched BPO will return to the orginal hanger.
