Hi there.
I live in 0.0 and use my Apoc for ratting, but im having problems dealing dmg :(
I was wondering if someone could assist me with my setup? I prefer the long range setups, i tried the Megapulses and a Dual Large Armour repairer one but i found i had trouble tanking the tripple BS spawns (Especially seraphims).
I live in Angel space btw.
7 x Megabeam I 1 x Cloak
1 x Sensor Boost II 1 x Cap Charger II 2 x Tracking Computer II
1 x Tracking Enhancer II 1 x Med armour Rep II 2 x Heatsink II 3 x WCS
First off im paraniod of dieing, hence the cloak and 3 X WCS.
The thing is to snipe i have to use Microwave, but that means i can only break the tanks of the BS's < 950k :(
If i use Multifrequencys i have to get within about 50km, which isnt too bad. But i find i just run out of cap :(
Does anyone have a decent Apoc setup for 0.0 ratting?

Only thing I can think of saying is 'scrap the cloak'.

Try
7xMegapuls I (Radio for long , Xray for med, Multifrequency For short) 1xCruise Launcher (kinetic ammo) primarily to take out the frigs
2xCap Recharger II 1XSensor booster II 1xTracking Computer II
2x NPC Type Hardeners 1x Med Armor Rep II 1xHeat sink
and if you dont have enough cpu put a cpu enhancer or 2
also if you have the skills put in a few armor repairing drones if not then regular drones will do.
Focus your drones and cruise launcher on the frigs and everything else on the battleships should work.

I live in 0.0, all on my own. If it comes between losing a 105 million ISK ship and beling called lame, then im lame.

Props for soloing in 0.0. About all I can recommend is training up your gunnery more and using T2 megabeams instead

Edited by: Phlaago Rexor on 31/12/2005 01:10:56 As I dont fly amarr ships beyond friggies myself I havent tested this but I recall some people mentioning in a few of the amarr/the eve-verse balance discussions that the really big angel rats have wicked EM/thermal resistances and is a pain in the "6" to take down for amarr pilots that stick with their lasers entirely.
A few suggestions: 1) consider fitting 2 siege launchers with bane torpedos to deal some explosive damage which is the angels weakness. (if siege wont fit try cruise unless they use defender missiles..) 2) use drones that do explosive damage. (not very useful at sniping range though... unless you get silly dronerange from the new skills and mods in RMR)
you may very well run into cpu issues on the apoc when fitting missiles though :/

You picked the hardest NPCs (imho) to fight, using weapons that they are strongest to resist, and using a sorry set-up because you are "paranoid" of dying.
My advise is to move to a different type of NPC to fight, because I highly doubt you are willing to fit what it would take to get the job done.

ok, well i live in a deadend system. Its usually quiet but the local ganksquad know im here and they pop in every now and again.
As long as i watch local i can fit this setup and it works ALOT better.
7 X Tachyon Beam I 1 X Cloak
1 X Sensor Booster II 2 X Tracking Computer II 1 X Cap Recharger II
2 X Heatsink II 1 X Tracking Enhancer II 1 X Med Armour Rep II 1 X RCU II 2 X WCS
I'll still run out of cap, but i can take out 1 seraphim - warp out and recharge then warp back in.
Thanks to everyone for the advice

Try:
3 Tach,4 Mega beam, Tractor beam 4 cap rechargers 2 large armor reps, 3 hadners, 1 rcu, cap relay
I only need the secound armor rep on tripple tyrants. works great for me hunting sansha's.

I've found that Angels tend to get very close:
6 Megapulse I 2 Arbalest Assault Launchers
1 Sensor booster (maybe a webber (or other cap rech?)) 3 Eutectic Cap Rech's
2 Explosive Hardener 1 Kinetic Hardener 1 Large Accomm. Rep 2 Cap Power Relays 1 Med Repper II / Heatsink II
No point with WCS, just NPC in a non-pipeline system Chain Spawns and use the assault launchers to kill frigs that are scrambling you.
I'm pretty sure this setup will allow you to Leave the LAR on, which is mostly what you need to tank these spawns. If not fit a 1600 Rolled Tungsten Plate or a 2nd Kinetic Hardener.
The BS will come very close, the idea is to get their transversal velocity as low as possible then kill them with the mega pulse that should hit. If you need to kill quicker fit 3 Berserker drones, they should help significantly. ---

Unforunatly mate you running into the same prob as every other apoc pilot using T1 guns : Pants Dmg. Dont use the apoc for range, and dont use it for dmg if ur using t1 guns, use it for what its supposed to be used for : tank. I NPC'd triple BS spawns/faction spawns no problem with this setup whilet i was living in 0.0, so its tried and tested allthough it does require some good cap skills and going in close :)
High : 8 megapulse med : 4 cap recharger II's Lows : 2 Large reppers, 2 X specific hardners, dmg mod, 2 X cap rlys
Allthough if u wanna npc while still being able to deal with any pvp that you may come across just ditch out the heat sink and fit a 3rd hardner. Also afaik you need adv weap upgrades to fit the above setup, if u dont have the skills then drop 2 of the lasers and fit 2 heavy nos, then drop a recharger out of a med slot and fit an ab :)
hope this helps.

Im using this with great success against most kinds of rats.
8x Megapulse Lasers (any t1 variant is ok)
3x Cap Recharger t2 1x Afterburner
2x Large t2 reps 3x harnders 2x Cap power relay
Warp in at 15, tank and blast everything, it goes rather quick to gather loot aswell.

Sorry mate, if you insist on fitting both a cloak and stabs on your ship your going to have a poor fitting and a hard time killing anything.
If your smart you'll never ever have to use the stabs, ever. Its a matter of watching local, and warping away if someone comes to kill you.
Your fitting is a subsitute for brains and player skill. Learn how to avoid combat without the use of stabs and cloaks and you'll never have to use them. The mechanics of this game are such, that killing a smart pilot without stabs of next to impossible if he doesn't want to fight. I have never ever used stabs on an NPC'ing ship, and I have never once had to fight in a situation if I didn't want to. and thier are many other players who can honeslty say the same thing, even after years of doing it in very hostile situations.
Do your self a favour, drop the stabs. Your set up will be much better, and if you learn how to avoid combat using your brain rather then a gimped set up, you'll find you make more isk, kill better spawns, and never have to worry about PVP if you don't want to.

7 x MegaPulse II 1 x Tractor Beam
2 x Tracking Computer II 2x Burton Cap Rechargers (only does 18%) but lots cheaper
2 x Large armor Reps 3 x Energized Membrane IIs 2 x CPR I
You can tank with this set up and fire forever. If the frigates or drones get close, you carry 13 light drones (the cheap ones) to kill them while you tank.
