I was advised to fit these three Rigs to my ship:
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I Small Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I Small Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer I
While looking at the Attributes for the Sm Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I I saw : Drawback 10% What is that?
Also, there is the following warning on the Rigs: Penalty: Using more than one type of this module or similar modules that affect the same attribute on the ship will be penalized.
Since these are all Screen Reinforcers, would I incur a penalty if I fit all three at same time, or is the Attribute the warning is talking about the three types of damage they screen against, so there would be no penalty since none of them screen against the same type of damage?
Thank you. |

Read the first page of info on the module. "..... at the expense of increased signature radius." It makes you easier to hit. That is the penalty and can be reduced by training up the appropriate rigging skill. As they have different resistances, no stacking penalty.
Most (not all) modules have the info you need in their "show info." "Measure Twice, Cut Once." |

The drawback and the penalty are different things.
Most rigs have a drawback, that is, they do negatively effect a different stat. Shield rigs increase your signature radius, so, by fitting 3 of them your signature radius will increase by 30%, which makes it easier to track you. (Normal modules usually don't have a drawback.)
The penalty is a stacking penalty and applies to pretty much all rigs and modules (with a few exceptions). This is to encourage people to fit different modules instead of simply stacking "their best stat". However, in this case there will be no penalty, as each rig affects a different stat (each resistance type is a different stat.) |

to elaborate on the previous speakers: the stacking penalties for shield and armor resistances work per resistance type, not per module type. also, your ships 'natural resists' and damage controls are not subject to stacking penalties.
furthermore, the 'worse' module is always penalized instead of the 'better' one. for example, if you were to fit a Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I and a Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer II, the latter one would have its full effect while the former one would be penalized to ~81% effectiveness.

Thank you for the replies and very useful information.
Yes, I'd read the information regarding the "...increased signature radius..." but did not connect it to the term Drawback for some reason.
Thank you again for feedback/information. |

Also, Drawback is reduced by the Level of your specific rigging skill so you will only suffer an 18% bigger signature (you DO have your Shield Rigging skill to Level 4, right?). Forum-unbanned since 2011.10.20.
