Hey guys, I stopped playing EVE after cold war because my PC wouldnt play the patch (for the reason in the title) but now I have decided to try and get this to work again, because it used to work!
I have installed all my drivers and directx9c but Still no luck.
On the login screen there is no text, the buttons have no text either. The game is really jerky, much much worse than ever before. If I press escape the options have no text, just 3 buttons and blank pulldown menus.
Is there any known fix for this, or does anyone have any ideas?
ARRR!

Turn off Windows graphic accelorator (in windows display advanced features) and write features. I have the same piece of sh!t card as you and it worked great after I did that!

Hey man, thanks alot for your reply, but it still doesnt work! I'm on windows 98, are you?
I moved the slider in the display -> advanced from full to no acceleration, and eve didnt load, then I tried it on every setting in between, still no luck!
Any ideas are appreciated, or maybe Im doing your solution wrong?
Cheers

missing text may also mean you're missing the font : check in your eve folder if you have fontfiles there

Right! The directory: C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\cache\Fonts is empty, is that where the fonts should be?
Any ideas from here?
Thankyou!

Try reinstalling your graphics card. It should work fine with that card. - Proud member of the [23].

I believe win98 wont run eve any longer...but dont quote me. I have a FX5200 in a computer here that runs eve perfect without issues but then I run winXP with a gig of ram and a 2.8 gig intell processor and MB

I have seen this using the newest drivers from nVidia. It seems that they broke the newest ones, at least in XP64 they did.
I suggest getting the previous version & then forcing the drivers onto your system (use update drivers and tell it you want to specify the location)

Thanks to everyone - I sorted it!
It WAS the drivers, this has happened before with other things.
I am now running some older drivers from 2/24/2005 - just incase anyone with the same problem finds this thread.
Thanks again, and see you in space.
