Edited by: Foxtail on 03/01/2006 17:20:20 Hello, Ok, so I have been playing EVE on my laptop just fine for nearly 2 years now, but after RMR my laptop kept randomly shutting off..(immediate shutoff, no BSD) So I tried all the usual things, (virus check, driver updates, blah blah blah) but no luck :( so I did the unthinkable... I reinstalled Windows!!
However.. I have now encountered a problem... I have a -NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go 64M- Graphics card, I know this has some problems with EVE, which I solved before by doing something that was recommended here (EVE Forums) somewhere...
My main problem is.. I can't remember what it was that I did!!!!
Can anyone help? I remember it was something like, "install the driver for <a different Geforce card>" and some other setting changes....
I have spent the last few hours looking at the 300+ pages of posts in this section.. but (as some of you may know) i have a 10 week old baby that demands my (near) constant attention and I am finding it increasingly irritating that there is no way to search the forums, as I simply don't have the time (or patience) to look at soo many posts!
I would be so greatful for any help. Thank-you so much in advance, and I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year!
*hugs*

*RAGE* goddamnit, i finally found the bloody drivers, installed them, loaded EVE, graphic issue sorted and then boom! less than 2 minutes into the game, it causes my laptop to turn off...
(a problem i've had since RMR)
What is going on? it's only EVE that does it...
please please help before I take a hammer and get smashy smashy on my laptop... This just calls for a celebration! Let's sacrifice Rabbity and eat his flesh! |

Don't take it out on your well paid for PC, it's not your fault. I can't play either (15 days and counting) and my PC is pretty over the top. I think CCP broke the game again and they need to fix it.
I am thinking it might be a Nvidia card thing also cuase I don't see allot of ATI users having issues.

Sounds like its overheating! Are you playing it on your lap, bed or some other surface that might inhibit airflow?
Another option may be to install an older version of the Nvidia drivers as some people are reporting newer versions causing overheating. (Make sure you're installing laptop drivers and not desktop drivers). |

Hi, No, it can't be that its overheating, because even if i load EVE as soon as my laptop is turned on (therefore not hot), it still does it..

Getting exactly same thing. (CPU jumping to 100%) and then game crashes after few minutes of game play.
It started to happen right after the whole bull**** with stolen passwords and the new windows update. I updated and then downgraded the geeforce 2MX drivers, i tested memory using memtest. i reinstalled EVE both as old version + patch and brand new version. And still crashing. Im going to be monitoring the forums until a solution i found !
