Anyone noticed the funny difference between D's and 0's? Is it 10 or 1D.. Took me a few weeks to figure that out-- Sucks..
Btw don't you people with hearing problems get hearing aids for computers and stuff? That funny plug-in they seem to have everywhere nowadays.. Check it out if you don't have one, they're said to be great.

Originally by: Sunburn I was wondering how many of you players who have a disability cope playing this game. I know in the virtual we try to leave our problems at the keyboard, but I am interested.
I know a fair few deaf Eve players. And yes, that can be an issue in fleet combat, unfortunately

I have Attention Deficit Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, and depression (I think the latter may actually be bipolar disorder and pretty much everyone who knows me agrees). I'm not on meds for any of that anymore since nothing seems to work.
I just slog through every day as best as I can, though it can get extremely discouraging at times and I wonder "what's the point"? I'm trying to get a college education and find a career that I'll actually enjoy (or at least won't hate), but all of the above are making that extremely difficult.

no i do not push myself onto players in the game, in fact I am made welcome and I leave a day later, I have come to the conclusion it is better for me to work on my own as I know a few people who play the game in real life. I have recently joined the paths channel where I have been made most welcome without any pressures and i thank them for that. I know i do not speak a lot as I mind is doing other game activities.
I think that CCP should employ someone who is familiar with all disabilities to adapt the game for everyone.
Anyway i mean no harm to anyone with these threads and I am sorry to the moderators for putting up with me today. when I got something to say, I get my teeth stuck in and then you do not hear from me again for a while.

i did not see the recent threads so sorry if i am going on again, yes I have not been able to hold down any jobs as I get bored very quick and i got to move onto other things, but I have to agree gaming for me does give me release as well. Unfortuantly not completely as I have a habit of doing it in the game, hence now i play on my own. The world would be boring if we were all the same.

Hear hear; should not be impossible for CCP to get some more font options in - let's pester them about it...
Originally by: Sunburn I was wondering how many of you players who have a disability cope playing this game. I know in the virtual we try to leave our problems at the keyboard, but I am interested.
I play eve to give me therapy from real life problems, I suffer from tourrets syndrome and attention deficit disorder which I am treated with anti depressants. Yes i do flame when I play this game, but not on the keyboard. You would not want to know what I say.
My wife is registered blind, but she has some sight, she cannot play eve due to the text being too small and that upsets her as she wants to play beside me.
This is not a joke, I completely serious about this thread, I am not seeking any special treatment in the game, but I am curious.

Respect to you Sunburn.
Many people have problems in their lives and hide them away so that they fester inside themselves and really mess those people up.
Your not one of them.
Although I cant offer any solutions to your on-line woes I admire your hounesty in giving your opinion and openly disscussing your difficulties.
Gaming can be a great help to a lot of people, myself included, I had to endure a long period of paranoid schizophrenea (spelling ?) after a problem with substance abuce which could have become a lot worse and had it not been for the comrardary of on-line gaming.

i dont actually know if anyone mentioned this after the first few posts because i got bored reading the rest of the thread, in which case im suprised noone has mentioned the fact that there IS indeed a tool to aid people of little sight
if you hold LEFT CTRL for a few seconds , the mouse turns into a square which magnifies everything underneath the square so people who have trouble with sight can see stuff better.
anyway, mate of mine killed a deaf guy once, he sent a hate-mail to him saying that he did it cos he was racist. it was pretty funny. _______________________________________________

Have you tried lowering the resolution ingame to say 800x600 and running in fullscreen mode. It should force everything to be bigger than usual.
someone mentioned they were colour blind earlier, you can change the colours of the UI in the Graphics tab.
just brainstorming...

PS: good thread, definately an issue that requires addressing

well it has been a constructive discussion here and I thank those who seriously contributed with their thoughts, I for one will now play eve on my own doing my own thing, i think it is the best solution. I do not want any special treatment, afterall it is a game, I just want to play eve in peace. I think this font issue seriously needs looking at and I will be contacting ccp about this.
People that do know me I do not seek attention as i am too in depth in manufacturing, mining and selling. So you guys will not have any problems with me unless I fidget and change professions every day. Only joking.
