i'm in the same boat.. my main account was reset. no mail yet, did the forget PW thingy, still no mail. and im going on 7hrs w/no training. (oh the horror!)
anyway... what interests me more is, i'd like to know what was the criteria to become one of those "selected" accounts that got reset..

Money? Maybe the accounts that had the password reset had a lot of money, of T2 thingy...

Be patient guys, CCP is fixing it.
But would be cool Oveur to have some news about why the mails take long to arrive.
SMTP Queue ? Another problem ? Fixing something about security preventing mail departures ?

just to clear some things up that are pretty obvious i think
not ALL accounts having their passwords reset were "hacked"
it has not been said by CCP that it was hacked client pcs at all
and also my 0.02 isk on client security regarding windows:
1. do NOT use admin or poweruser rights for daily work, user rights suffice and least priviledges is the key to a secure pc
2. do NOT use internet explorer or outlook(express)
3. shut down all unnecessary services(refer to http://www.ntsvcfg.de/ntsvcfg_eng.html or http://www.dingens.org/index.html.en for details)
4. do NOT use a personal firewall, they are crap and shutting down all the services is all you need, use a router to connect to the internet by any means if possible
5. keep windows and userspace programs(web browser, mail client, instant messenger, media player....) up to date
6. use ONE good automagically updating virus scanner. but don't feel like beeing on the safe side, those companies can never act, all they do is react and then it can allready be too late for you, only run programs you get from a trusted source -> refer to point 7
7. last but not least USE YOUR BRAIN!
and if your pc got compromised, be aware that you can't trust anything anymore, "cleaning" with whatever tool someone wants to sell you will NOT work -> REINSTALL

OK my password change theory was false, no biggy, lets drop that one.
a new theory is isk, well both my accounts have a decent amout of isk, or at least the corps the characters are ceo of do. Just need 1 poor non director/account to disprove this..
However id be most annyoed if the entire password db was lost and ccp didnt change EVERY password, i mean why not..? maybe they will do and they plan on doing it in phases over the next few days...
Maybe someone was sniffing the network at the locaiton eve is hosted, if so all people that logged in in the last x days.. Someone prove this wrong by having 2 accounts 1 they hardly use and finding that one reset but not the primary. etc

Just a guess, but the reason that not all got their passwords changed may have to do with the way the accounts are stored. Maybe they are not all in the same database or machine. And only one of those machines were compromised. I dont know, what I do know is that I have still not received that email.

All you guys complaining about lost playing time needs to cool down for a moment. Think about it. If it's your account that's been compromised, wouldn't you want CCP to shut down the servers, so your character doesn't get deleted etc?
I for one am perfectly happy with the way they decided to handle this situation. I'm sure you'll find the culprits and bring them to justice

I have 4 accounts, only one of them has been "reset"
The one that was reset is my main character, but I never keep a large amount of ISK in his wallet. He probably only has about 100-150 mill in assest total...
I just hope when I finally get to log back in with him, nothign is missing and he wasn't pod-killed 300 times with no clone, he's up to 25 mill SP...

They only have one database stored on the RamSan 400. It can't be the database computer that was hacked, if it was, all people would have get a new password. Now, maybe it's a faulty proxy server which had been hacked. Maybe the server communicate with the database in plain text?
Anyway, I'm wondering CCP doesn't store the password has a MD5 hash in the database? If this was the case, there was no need to regenerate a password for each account, because event CCP wouldn't know it.

Wow, already 7 pages long. And remember that only some those with a second account (or third, fourth etc.) are able to post here at all!!
It's been one and a half hours now since Oveur's last update and it seems no one has received his password yet

Sigh, why cant people be smarter than this?
There is probably a wide number of reasons for some accounts to get their passwords reset and others not.
For example CCP may have considered it prudent to reset passwords to accounts that have vast amounts of isk in their wallets or access to corp wallets with likewise vast amounts of isk.
Isk is easilly transfered and while it can be traced by CCP its time consuming to go over them.
Another reason for accounts to get their passwords reset may be that they have few didgits.
Others may have them reset because its easy to guess the account name based on the char name.
The list goes on and on and on.
As this is a major issue and CCP has chosen to use this method I do not worry the slightest over being hacked or not. I know that this morning I still had my isk. If anything has been stolen since then I have no reason to belive I will not get it refunded.
In short, there is no reason to get worked upp about somthing before you know if its worth getting worked upp about!

if the md5 hash db was taken all passwords should have been reset, people can ***** weak passwords you know, and cpp isnt going to have a good way to know which passwords are going to be *****ed first so have to rest all...
I still have my money on people that logged in on the website, or eve during a small time windows. eg over christmas when maybe a hacker had got a machine on the eve network, hosting companys network etc..
Someone got an account they havent used for ages that was reset? Or someone that ALWAYS logs in both accounts at the same time that only had 1 reset?

From our internal forums by someone who can't post here atm :
Q: Has this been a server side hack, or client side? This is a very important question because if it is server side then customer credit card details may be at risk and the community need to be informed as quickly as possible to counter possible credit card fraud. Any one concerned with credit card fraud should look at their latest online statement, or request one by post.
