I would like this basic question answered from CCP.
Why int he world would any player spend their time playing this game, skilling into ship after ship, until they reach carriers, dreads, etc and realize they can't move them to another system without the help of a cyno. Now before anyone bashes me for asking, yes I understand most corps with carrier pilots either have players that have alts to cyno themselves or corp cynos. my point is, if you are a solo player who has begun skilling into end game ships, why in the world would they pay for a second account just to move around freely in null? Wheres the risk vs reward if your strande din a sytem or stuck in station because someone can't cyno you? but it makes sense that you can fly a lower class ship around freely, some with the option to use cynos as well. I'm not saying make it possible for players to jump extremely large distance but even if you did, wouldn't it be our fualt if we lande din the middle of reds..? Risk vs Reward for carrie rpilots must mean we risk undocking and the reward is being cynoed safely.. or warping to a pos until we hit the risky bubble. I'm sure others feel the same way, people who only have one account should be able to travel just as far as those why cyno themselves. or is the ability to move around systems in a capitol ship gonna cost someone an extra subscription? |

No one ever has asked this question before.

capitals are used in group combat and for group logistics solo capitals is not how you use them, or can use them this is why you need a second player for a cyno 0/10 lrn2eve I Endorse this Product and/or Service EVE Online Battle Recorder When I press F1 I get ISK |

You can eliminate the need to use cynos simply by having one of your favourite capital ships in every system you ever use. |

Capitol - the building in which a legislative body meets.
Capital - a classification of a naval vessel.

Confirming this is true. Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Because they want to? I mean, you might not want to, but obviously a bunch other people do. Not sure why the question needs asking, tbh.. it's not like anyone's forcing people to skill into these ships |

I was tired when typing captial lol. But it's a serious question. If you have no desire to have multiple accounts why would one need to find an alliance or corp, let's be honest with ourselves. You'll never find a single person that will cyno through every bit of this universe at will. I find it crazy that some even have 6-7 toons that are "cyno alts" vs being able to just have a skill that allows one perosn to move themselves. It's not a question of because theyw ant to, it's a question of why should I give you more money monthly to access an in-game function? |

It's not an in-game function to be able to move these ships on your own. There's certain things in the game you have to do with other people.

so if one were searching for risk vs reward, how can they when they have to depend on other people? I'm not shooting down the very idea of interaction between other players corp mates and etc, but whats really the point of skilling into capitals if their only use is for fleet battles? I might as well skill into a widow. |

Maybe some really old-timer will come in and brush what I'm about to talk about up a bit.
First - this game was designed with the idea of "teamwork" as a core theme.
Capital ships were to be a "team" asset used and run by groups, not by a single individual looking at doing their own thing in their own way but by a team working as a team.
Carriers were discussed in very early threads as a "mobile base" that a gang would operate off of but that never really materialized. Small teams were envisioned as using them kind of like a mobile POS. This was extended with the first iterations of what were called "motherships" which then were refocused over to "super carriers" and then to how those work modern day.
I haven't dug out the details on some of this stuff in, quite literally, years but I'm pretty sure that some of the "ancient" types around here can explain some of this.
SImply put, as this game has aged, alts have become a core element to playing it. Many aspects of the game from early on are seen as pretty close to suicidally stupid/moronic these days (such as flying larger ships through gate-way style systems between low->null, high->low... so on and so forth - without a "point scout" or owning a capital without a cyno alt -- outside of W-space.)
So yes, based upon actual use vs intended use, it seems rather odd but how it's worked out - these "gang assets" are used as individual tools and so it looks strange to you vs "intent". |
