A couple friends and I have moved into a C2 and have started getting used to living in a wormhole, but we're finding that we seriously out tank and out gun the anomalies in a C2. There are 4 of us in total. Should we consider moving to a C3 or a C4? We are looking for something with more challenge than the C2 has for us right now, but I am concerned with our small size we will just get blobbed by the large alliances that dominate the better class wormholes. I have experience in PVP, especially skirmish based pvp from my time in Faction Warfare, so I believe I can PVP, even outnumbered but a few, but not blobbed. We really don't feel like getting blobbed left and right and some of my friends are new to the game so they won't be able to hold up under constant pressure as much as I might. Any tips would be nice.
Thanks. |

Don't C2s have two connections to C4 systems every day? What's stopping you from running missions in them? |

C2s have two statics, one to K-space one to WH space. Get yourself a C3 or C4 static and farm those, not the C2 sites in your home system |

This. It will be much easyer for you guys to learn to use your C2's hole's. Do some scouting if you like it use it. If it's not empty go back brake the mass on the hole and get the next one. Is it a rock point a lazer at it and profit. Is it a ship point a lazer at it and profit. I dont see any problems here. |

This in my experience is the way to go for a smaller group.
We live in a C2 with a C4 static, which also has a high-sec static (we found a good one :)). Our "home" (the C2) is there to be just that, our home, where we sleep and eat. The C4 static is for NPC'ing (or PVP roams). The anoms in our C2 are generally left as .. bait for wandering people. :)
The beauty of this sort of a setup is that "home" becomes a fantastic place for PVP (lots of people wandering in from highsec or from the C4 side of the chain). Since its a C2 with minimal amount of mass that can come in from either the C4 or the highsec, it is far easier to defend against invasion/eviction attempts since your attacking force can only bring 'so much' in the way of firepower before having to roll a new hole. |

All are very good suggestions but they are lacking thought ... Wormholes are classified by the home system and its static. Normal convention suggest you have your homesystem as isk making machine... but thats rather unhealthy. So it would be actually better to use your static. So lets splitt this up into reasons for a home base and choosing the static.
Class 1-2 as you mentioned are not worth considering..but keep in mind that those are also exit systems for loot and logistics of the bigguys so evidently fairly well traveled since most of them lead to jita. But there was the notion of dualstatic to c4/c5 space... c5 space with 4GǪguys can be quite profitable if you like doing sides without capital escalations... but those leading to c5 also have an isolated null static afaik so you dont have the easy option of handeling logistics but with a small close nid crew you can have some fun and even go 0.0 ratting from time to time with local backup. But this could make your home system only good for one thing ... PI
So lets get to c3 as home base... class 3 has always a kspace but are the main pipes out of highclass wormholes since c4-6 have the most class3 connections. So as a base its rather for solo people in extend ... excentric hermits.
Class 4 as a home base is a good idea.... anyway moving on.... sarcasm. You have outgrown c2 space ... you will outgrow c4 space... so why even bother... c4 space is for people that hate wormholes.... hi bronya... guess why jim is dead..n.. So say no to c4 because you want a capital at one point and you dont want it to be in the arguement when you will have to leave again.
So class 6 ... nope
Class 5... lately... well since i moved from c5c5 to a c5c2.... stuffs good.... c5c5 is hardcore pvp focused... but their chance of rolling into you is 2percent...sooo yeah have fun rolling...while i enjoy the endless farming possibilities sorry i mean farming farmers .. that countless c2statics give which are leading all over the place...up and down and most of the time straigiht to kspace if needed.... if you are more farming oriented try a c3 there is less connectivity or c4 if you hate life.
But keep in mind with highclass wormhole comes those caps into play... but given your lowclass static... people would rather.not fully drop 3b mass on your ass because if there is no other wormhole they are stuck...
So tldr c5 to c3GǪfor solo farming and group activity at home... ooor c5 to c2 forchatching all the techthreeomons nomnomnom
But if there is one thing everybody will agree on. always have a goal..or bob will make sure that you get repo-ed.. (too soon) My mind does not reflect my corp ... it just shows you what they care about...

I sit with the 'live in a C2, earn off your static' side. Find a C2 with a k-space exit that you like, and the w-space static you want (ideally your home system will also have good planets for PI, but that's optional). Hisec is very convenient, but you'll have tons of daytrippers, losec and nullsec mean fewer daytrippers but trickier logistics. As for w-space, you won't want a C6 static, and probably not a C5 static for only four of you, because the sites will be rough and often outside your ability to earn off (unless you have tons of alts, and that's risky because of split attention). C3s are probably too easy for you, but from what I've heard C4s are actually not a good return for you effort - a big step up from a C3 in difficulty for little increase in ISK.
C2s have the huge advantage of a pair of statics and all holes in and out being mass limited to 300Ktons, so nobody can drop caps on you unless they move a POS in and build them onsite. This makes it hard (not impossible, but hard) to evict you.
My advice - if your current C2 has a C3 or C4 static stay and farm your static. Bring an orca in to make WH crashing easier and be prepared to roll any hole that isn't worth farming.

Thanks for all the help guys! we're in a C2 with a static C2 currently, sounds like we should just stay put and roll the C2 statics till we find one with a C3 off it and Farm the C3. |

If you dont want to be bothered while ratting go to C4. 4 man gang can run C4 sites easily. But logistics is sometimes a bit tricky. Your chain to K-space is often long and often ends in Null/low sec. But it is still doable. Sleeper loot can be hauled in bomber or cloaky hauler. If you send scout in front and some escort ship with your industrials they should be pretty safe as well during export/import operations.
C3s gets often K162s from other W-space systems and are used for transit from them and k-space. They could be easily farmed by 2man gangs but C4s can be farmed by 2man gangs as well with a bit of tweaking fits. |
