I believe the title should really say it all. I have been playing EVE off and on since 2006. I do enjoy space combat, and also the economical part of the game.
With that said, the one thing I truly dislike is how everyone's ships look the same in terms of color and physical characteristics. After playing the game for about a month, I saw the majority of ships out there. To be honest, it is visually boring.
I would love it if the ability to customize your own ship was made available. From changing the physical dimensions of your ship through mods/upgrades, to changing the color scheme itself.
I think it would be kind of cool if pilots could paint all of the ships in their hanger one color...or a different color for each class of ship... or if corps had a specific color scheme that they like to run with or WHATEVER they want to do with it.
In addition, I would like it if they changed the look of say the Dominix, from the Sin...even if it's just a small change. I just wish they were easily identifiable, seperate from eachother without having to see the color up close. Just some sor tof physical difference would be nice.
What does everyone else think? Please chime in with your thoughts.

Couple of points:
It's been an open secret since CCP started the V3 Graphics initiative that it was going to end with more ship customization. People have been requesting this for years, even some of CCP's V3 preview videos showed things like faction colored Tornadoes.
Note, this is unlikely to go much further than palette swapping. A good example being the Green and Gold on the Deimos being swapped for, say, Minmattar Red and Black or something to that effect with the option to use faction patterns as well.
There was a recent thread where various people were listing off ships they'd like to see re-done, plus some talk around the Command Ship changes that CCP would eventually like to have every T2 ship be distinguishable from the base hull, either to a small or large degree (stuff like the Stealth Bomber models apparently takes a long time).
Being able to tack bits onto your ship is unlikely to happen any time soon because it would be a performance nightmare and each one of those bits would have to be created by CCP.
I recommend checking out EOH Labs for some fun ship recolors. |

I just want black. Then the majority of Caldari ships will look halfway decent...

Then you'd probably like the Hyasyoda Rokh and Hyasyoda Drake.
Sadly that's all they've re-skinned. I was hoping for a Raven with that paintjob but the closest thing is the Raven State Issue. Someone poke T'Amber and get him to do a few more of these =P |

I would be overjoyed if CCP provided some type of ship based repaint, selected from a limited set of pre designed skins. (also adding corp decal to ships)
However I would be massively against any type of 'choose your own colours' option for players. And the reason for that is:
Gamers are a massive bunch of tools.
For every player who chooses a cool looking set of colours, there will be one who skins their ship Pink, or garish colours just to 'troll' everyone else!

I would like the corp logo. Maybe the choices can be limited to/by corp logo colours? Just a thought.
I'll be more enthusiastic about encouraging thinking outside the box when there's evidence of any thinking going on inside it. |

All for it: Color schemes, patterns, logos... not so sure about excessive physical changes, but I like the idea of personalizing your favorite ship very much... it could be done via new a "ship designer" service in stations, with the more exotic patterns/logos to be bought through NeX and/or ISK.

Just make some EOH Labs precolored sets where you can buy it with AUR once and reuse as much as you like. Like clothing for Avatars.
No stupid Pink, more Money for CCP and we can Chance something without Breaking the Game.
