Hello, after crashing to desktop a few times due to a partly bad server and a partly bad locial connecting i managed to loose a battleship to a bunch of rats.
Normally when you crash your ship takes off in warp, even if you are in combat (correct me if i am wrong please). However, if you are warp scrambled it can't, and it will just sit there being shot at until you long back in ur the rats stop scambling you (not likely to happen).
So, to avoid dieing to rats scrambling me when i crash out of the game i fitted on a WCS (warp Core Stabaliser), question is:
How stroong are the rats warp scrambled, a player's can be either 2 or 3 for each scrambler (depending on type), how about when it is a NPC? 1? 2? does it differ?
Secound question is, if there are multiple rats, do they all scramble you or do they take their turn on it so it is always one? If they all have a go at warp scmbling you I can fit all the WCS' i want and still not being able to get out of there, which is a little bit stupid because I crash to desktop 3-4 times a hour. SO it is gonna be expensive in ships i guess ;D
THanks, means a lot to me if you can awnser this, scared to run my lvl 3 missions until i know I wont die to a crash again.

warp core stabilisers may save your ship, but your soul will burn in hell. they are bad, don't buy them from RA/PA please.
on topic. there are many theories dealing with this topic, and the solution to all speculation is easy: fit your ship with one, wait until scrambled by one friggie, try to warp out. if warping fails, try again with 2 stabs. if it fails, rinse and repeat. personally i don't use stabs at all, because they spoil every decent setup. so i have never tried this.

I would much rather spend eternity in hell than looseing another ship because i am not there to defend it.. And i dont think the rats mind as much as a player :)
And thanks, was a nice idea, will give it a try.

I wonder, if npc destroyers are able to scramble, too. ___________ 'Only ships can be assembled, this is a Frigate.' |

never seen one yet, but there are *some* mission cruisers that scramble, so its not impossible

Tomb's list said that 3 of the 6 elite frigates of each race are the only ones that scramble iirc, but I could be wrong. Just need to go look at the RMR NPC list again. ---

My understanding is they used to all scramble for -1 each, but the problem is they tend to come in packs so you would need a whole lot of them to get out.
CCP needs to remove scrammers from the npc, they dont really add anything to the challenge except blowing you up if you get jumped by more than you expected (and the problem for if you get booted). Webifiers and other EW type stuff are fine though. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

Of course, I'm probably jinxing myself for saying this, but...
I run two WCS's on my Megathron for lvl 3 and 4 missions incase something goes sour. I've been scrambled several times without success. Therefore, I would recommend 2. 1 is usually never enough, but 2 seems to be the magic number for me. It might be different for you though, but 2 is what I recommend. *************************************************

Rats can scramble up to -4 pts. I lost a Tempest to belt rats after a long fight with a commander and a follow on huge spawn "spawned" right on top of me.
I had 2pts of wcs and wasn't able to warp. There were 6 frigs (just before rmr).
If worried have 2 wcs, but be aware you could still be scrambled for 3 or more pts.
TS and a Thron Smartbomb is the only practical option ...kill a couple and then warp in armour or structure at worst.
cheers
and yes it would be nice to use those 2 slots for better dam or armour but...

I was under the impression they stacked... otherwise a blockade runner (or any ship with 2 WCS) would be unstoppable with BM's

I've been running lvl 3 missions since RMR's release. I lost one ship to rat scramblers after RMR, and promptly fitted a named WCS into my Ferox. Since then, I've only been scrambled once. (That I know of.)
Now I have TWO WCS's.
I wouldn't just sit there and let somebody pound the crap out of me in RL... and I'm not about to let it happen to me in EVE. Not as long as I can do something about it.

NPC scram works as follows.....
All NPC's that are able to scram or web have a % chance to do so.
You could be tackled by 4 frigs, all 4 (if they have the ability to scram) could scrammble, or none, likewise anywhere in between.
If all 4 NPC'S did sucesfully scrammle you, you would have 4 points of scrammble on your ship and need 4 stabs to escape.
You are (imo anyway) far better to use the slots you fit stabs in to fit sommin else, stabs only gimp ur setup, go into a belt expecting to be scrammed and assumeing the only way you are gonna leave is once anything there is dead.
