IMO America received a well deserved smack up the side of the head that day. Unfortunately it didn't do any good.

When are they going to make 9/11 a holiday?
Seems like i have to hear about it every year even if i dont. It is tragic that people died, but people die all the time. But the media sure loves to promote 9/11 as the worst thing humanity could possible experience. |

It is indeed sad that 3000 plus people died, but why are their lives any more important the lives loves lost in hundreds of other places in the world throughout history at the hands of other people?
Do you remember the date of Tiananmen Square? Or the 100 days of the Rwandan Genocide? Most people viewed Orwell's writings as a warning. The harper regime and the goons treat them as a guidebook. |

Americans are so self centered. Yes this was a tradegy But people die all the year round. I hear Americans crying out not to get involved in syria for example. Yet they are dying just as you guys did. |

While I have sympathy for the families of the victims, parading it in everyones faces while conveniently forgetting the victims of US Gov't policy in arming "freedom fighters" and spying on the whole world is doing the US no favours.
Americans give no thought to the victims of the IRA, who were funded by US organisations while attacking one of the US's allies, or the victims of the Mujahideen who later became the Taliban, who were sponsored and armed by the US government to fight the USSR because it suited them at the time.

I'm sorry that we as Americans have allowed our tyrannical and ever approaching fascist government feel so secure as to through a publically recorded underground nuclear demolition scheme potentially kill hundreds if not thousands of Americans and millions in the middle east.
I honor those first responders who went through at cost of their own life to find any survivors. I pray that the people in the government opt to treat them for the low yield radiation sickness they suffer from before they all perish instead of allowing them to die to uphold a lie.

I always forget about this until someone reminds me. It's 10:24pm in Australia and I've managed to go the entire day without hearing anything about it until now. A day I'd rather forget, to be honest. This tragedy, while no less a tragedy, was used as an excuse by your government to drag Australia into a war (invoking the ANZUS treaty and threatening the Free Trade Agreement if we didn't go) that nobody here wanted and got a very good friend of mine killed. I still remember a caricature in the newspaper of our Prime Minister at the time, John Howard, wearing a bullring through his nose and Bush pulling him around by a chain. It was fitting, and also remarkably accurate.
Not to belittle the lives lost in the tragedy, but I think war belittles everything just fine all by itself. It's a shame that there was little alternative other than military action. However, while I freely admit that I hate what this day sparked and have a personal problem with it, and still firmly believe we played right into the hands of terrorists by implementing such freedom-restricting security measures as a result, I can't think of any alternative that would have gotten the same result and I won't say the right thing was done in response, but I will say we did the best thing we could have done with the information we had at the time. Unfortunately, hindsight is always waiting to play its hand. You don't scare me. I've been to Jita. |

I was in school when 9/11 happened. That day i decided to join the US Army and fight for my country. I went to Iraq and served a year over there. You get to see all sorts of gross and nasty things that weak people never could handle. It's easy to armchair a war when your not there. It's also easy to armchair a tradgedy years after it's happened. This post was not, and is still not for your self entitled opinions on what happened that day or any other. |
