Every patch since the Cold War patch has (in my opinion) made font readability on a 1600x1200 CRT (19") worse. RMR was a bit worse than Cold War, which again was a bit worse than before Cold War.
Today the font readability hit rock bottom as I am now hardly able to actually read the text even at largest font settings. (N.B. In any other program this is no issue, and I didn't change any font settings in Windows itself so it's not like I'm blind or something ).
The characters are way too close to each other, and they should also be much wider (in relation to their height) to begin with.
Of course, I already filed a bug report but in the meantime, I'd like to play eve for a bit....which is now hardly possible. So how could you change the fonts again, I've heard there was some unofficial (but harmless) way to do this, right?
Also, if you are playing at lower resolutions I don't know if you have the same problem, so I'm wondering, do other people playing at high resolutions experience the same problem?

I concur. With each patch I get closer and closer to my 22" monitor just to be able to read what the hell is going on there. We cry for mercy.

Edited by: Audrea on 10/01/2006 18:41:36 I have no problem with the font in general, except one damn annoying thing they dont fix for a while now: The capital "o" has EXACTLY same pixels as zero (0)!!! Type those 2 near each other, take magnifying class and you will not be able to tell the diffrence lol.. they just have exactly same pixels.. seems to me like some graphics guys wanted to leave home few minutes earlier
If I get killed someday because I wouldnt be able to plot a course because of those 2 identical signs - I will demand full reimburse, nothing less :)

At 1600x1200 on my 19" CRT, the font is pefectly readable to me at all settings, though changing the font width to expanded made it better.

Edited by: Diatom on 10/01/2006 18:51:04 My setting is 1280x1024 on a 19" Monitor and the font now is the most readable that I've seen in the last 2yrs. Not that it is the best but just more readable. There is a slight difference between O "Oh" and 0 "Zero" but you have to look closely.

This is from the Patch Notes: "The font rendering engine has been changed and minor adjustments made to the font to make it more readable."
Where is it more readable? O and 0(zero) still looks the same, & look still like a 6, Y still look like a v hanging in mid air etc, etc..
And my head still hurts after a couple of hours..
If not directly changing the font to a more userfriendly type then give us the option to change it ourself.

CCP's solution to an unreadable font was to make it smaller. Great!

I find it slightly better than the RMR font, but still harder to read than the one before. The main issue I had after getting used to the RMR font was numbers with decimal points, I had a hard time differentiating between 11.11 and 111.1 - this seems to have improved a lot.
