Is there anyone else out there that actually flies this ship? Have a Gallent alt that's considering skill up for one but the recent changes seems really lackluster..(although is quiet an improvement from before have to admit that)
For one, I am really having doubts on the efficiency of the heavy drone bonus. Anyone who actually fled one able to give me some feed back on how effective it is in real situation?
and there's the random hybrid tracking bonus. Well, tank, drones and hybrid weapon with only 6 lows is not going to cut it. aren't they better off just give it another drone bonus -____-
Overall the ship looks painful on paper, but anyone that actually flied one can give us some feed back on how it really is? |

Nobody flies one unless they're in command of a large fleet where the bonus would be helpful.
No alliance or fleet would ever take someone with that much invested in the Gallente skillset.
So.. self defeating ship.

You stoned? Megathrons are being flown in large fleet doctrines as one of the top choices now. As well as domis. Gallente are absolutely amazing for solo and small gang work as well. The eos changes have just barely come out. These will be used a lot. Armour and skirmish boost bonus? Yes please. CCP have said they're going to show drones some love as well, it can only get better for gallente and the eos. Well. It only took seven years for my skillset to gain ANY semblance of efficacy. Now I'm so old I can't pvp with wild abandon anymore. Clones with my kind of SP don't come cheap, and ganks don't pay the bills.

That's kinda the point for a fleet command ship. Until they added the armor warfare links to its repetoire, the EOS was just a juicy killmail waiting to happen.
Still is, unless nulsec and pvp has finally migrated away from the unholy minmatar fetish (with a dash of drakefleet) that I'd become well acquainted with.
Being an armor warfare mindlink specialist and armor logistic specialist, and gallente ship specialist, I'd become justifiably jaded as a spare tire on a sailboat when it came to fleet engagements.
Have things turned around? I've been gone a while, but I sincerely doubt the minmatar battlefleets and fish-schools of drakes have gone out of fashion so quickly. Maybe some of the older Amarrian battleship fleet pilots got a bit of fresh blood pumped in with refurbished lasers, but the hybrid changes certainly didn't offer a paradigm change for caldari gunboats or gallente anything.
That said. Don't get a fleet command ship unless someone asks you to fly one. A ship you don't use isn't useful. I learned that as a Thanatos pilot. ~Retired: Weapons R&D technician, arms manufacturer, weapons dealer, wormhole project manager, fleet pilot, capital ship pilot, alliance leader~

It's all about the Gallente (Mega, Domi) and Caldari ships (Naga, Rokh, and Ravens are the coming thing) for fleet warfare these days. Only Russians still fly Abaddons.
Drakes have been out of fashion since they got the double kick of the HML nerf and TiDi taking away theirir relative advantage in lag situations. No alliance uses Drakes for serious ops any more and they haven't for about a year.

in smaller scale combat, vexors, brutixes, tristans and enyos are among the top contenders.

Yep, they have. There is no single race dominating PVP at the moment in any part of space. Gallente has been in a very good spot for small and medium gang for a while already, and latest rebalancing certainly hasn't changed that. Quite the opposite.
On topic: My Eos is waiting for the hull change! Once it gets the T2 Myrm it'll fly gloriously.
More seriously though, unless you run 3 links, it does appear ever so slightly lackluster on paper. Lowish dps, very slow, tank is decent and presumably damage application is ok.
I think it should have received the Ish/Domi sentry bonus, as it is it's a brawler and competes with the Astarte. Still, looking forward to an opportunity to field it :)

Somewhat reassuring, at least. Been gone for a year, kinda surprised what I walked in to. I quit and then the world suddenly turns all sensible-like. It's as if Hell was just God's oven and now there are fudge brownies everywhere and diabetes was a lie.
Either way, yeah, Eos (a myrm eos? huzzah). don't do it unless you have people who are cool with you flying it as your 'thing'. I do believe that the command bonuses don't work if you're solo. Better off with an Astartes or a T1 battlecruiser (tough on pirates, gentle on isk)

I use it, I love it. Though application is NOS'ing local tanked ongrid-links or an Ishtar with links (plated one). Might be a bit narrow but there is just no armored alternative for the job.

If you feel like a jerk you can launch navy ogres with endless amounts of EHP, else regular heavies (in the situations you will field one, you might want to take 5 ogres and berserkers each right away) track cruisers very fine. With a web on them, you're applying near ideal damage to ideal damage. If the target is moving faster than ~300m/s (i.E. AB-cruiser etc.), it#s getting harsh, same to extremly low sigs (was fine down to 80ish though), else you pretty much hit for full damage. Which is some 450-700 depending on fit and drones.

I hear it's great to kill frigs. But Eos is pretty mighty as is right now. Having the damage mostly independent from your highs is letting you build quite a utility-platform aswell. Now actively requesting any faction / new faction willing to produce these:-áhttp://eohgames.com/labs/Ships/Vanir%20Federation%20Talos-á |

With the new changes to NOS you could go solo/small gang with a triple MAR setup with NOS in the highs, using ogres for damage.
I intend to try it anyways, I have command ship 5 so it should be pretty effective if only for that reason. |

Welp we can still have fun with some ships in fleets, thats always better than before where you'd be laughed at because you were in a gallente ship other than oneiros/lachesis/ares/proteus

Been trying out the Eos to boost a small gang for low sec anomalies/plexes, and I like what I see. Bear in mind though, I fight Sansha, and the tracking disruptors nerf the guns so bad I just use them for aggro and rely on drones for dps. Takes longer, but I'm in no rush when I play, I never look at the clock wondering if I 'should' up my dps to save a few seconds/minutes on a fight, but I guess that is symptom of advanced age and stuffed wallet... ;)
Small gang fit vs. Sansha/Blood
High: Fleet mod, armor rep time (TII if possible) Fleet mod, passive resist (TII if possible) 2x 250mm Rail TII 2 Med Remote Armor Rep
Mid 10MN MWD (or AB if grid is short) 2x Med Electrochem cap booster w/800's Omnidirectional Tracking link
Low 2x EM hardener 2x Thermic hardener 2x MAR II
5x Curator II
1x CCC 1x Aux nano
This is not the exact fit, I vary some bits, and depending on the ships you fly with, tank can be dropped some to allow for spider tanking to add dps with drone mods. But this is first and foremost for groups of drone boats where the Eos takes aggro and the other ships apply dps with sentries. Coupled with a Navy Vexor or three all sporting 5 curators the rats melt pretty fast.
This is in no way perfect, some will say its overtanked and under-dps not applying the full potential of the ships and so on, but I don't mind; it fits my way of playing, and even with just me and my alt in a navy vexor it still rivals the income from high sec missions, plus the thrill of low sec and occasional PvP is a welcome distraction. |
