I've been thinking. This is a dangerous endeavor and is often looked upon speculatively and with good reason.
So much of 0.0 has changed over the years. One thing that has remained relatively static since it's inception is the static warp bubble.
Anchor and forget. Destructible, yes, but undeniably a tool that provides uneeded advantage to what is usually a stale and lazy state of sieging something... be it a station undock, a system entrance (gate camp) these useful tools allow us to say "hey, wait a minute" when someone would like to avoid an othewise more interesting introduction.
However, are static bubbles really in the best interest of the game?
-At their best they fulfill a role that is already fulfilled by the interdictor and heavy interdictor
-At their worst they amount to nothing more than crippling the abilities of an already-under underdog.
Either way, placing this function into ship ability was a great move, and if you cant tell already I think the function should reside with ships entirely. It's more interesting, requires more attention and diverse gang makeup.
In situations where a winning entity wishes to siege a smaller, it requires actual attention to the siege at hand and provides an modicum of opportunity to the sieged. Which is what eve pvp is all about, promoting interesting conflict, not just ganking.
I submit to you fine forum people..
IDEA:
-Remove static bubbles.
(bonus points: further develop this by expanding on the 2 ship types and pilot interdiction mechanics we currently have) |

At the beginning i dont like them but the longer i play Eve the more i realise how important this kind of protection is.

what is important protection do they provide?
As someone who often goes roaming through null bubbles are at best an annoyance. you run into a gate smothered with 20 bubbles and have to either blow them all up or fly through them. both of which provide nothing but annoyance.
If your saying they make 0.0 safer, then thats all the more reason to get rid of them, with local chat 0.0 is already way too safe. |

They are just an annoyance IMO.

Definitely not.
First of all, it should be an annoyance for anyone to land on a gate with 20 large bubbles anchored on it. Chances are they are there for a reason. If you have a problem roaming around in 0.0 space and landing in the anchored bubbles of the people who actually live there and get killed, well that's your fault not the bubbles fault.
Dictors/Hictors are there for fleet engagements, while bubbles anchored ahead of time add to the strategic importance of planning. Not to mention they are easily countered by 1 half decent scout with pings 300km off a gate. They are also easily spotted on D-Scan.
But from what I understand, you want to try and gank miners in a dead end system that's bubbled to hell, and you want to be able to warp straight to the ore site they have 20 mackinaws mining in. My answer to this is either fly an inty nully t3, pull a logoffski in system, long term afk cloaking for covert hotdropping (chances are the system is cyno jammed). Its too easy to gank miners now that ore sites are available for anyone to warp to, and require no planning or preparation to gank a mining op. They deserve some protection at least, especially if they OWN the system. (And no, local is not OP when you have crap align time, especially when you are not 100% awake, I mean, it is mining after all. No local would destroy Null Sec industry Completely.)
Personally, I only run into bubbles in the situation above, or maybe a gang using stop bubbles to camp a null sec system with low sec access as these are the most frequented systems. I don't see these as being overpowered, as they are easily destroyed, and are used a lot less than they could be: (IE on every gate requireing certain bookmarks to bypass)
But in the end, why shouldn't the inhabitants of the null sec are you are in have some kind of home field advantage? |

well the majority of the time there guarding nothing, just leftovers. If your fleet of mackinaws wants to not get ganked too quick, leave a scout alt on the other side of the gate. see hostiles land on gate/show up on short scan---> tell fleet--> fleet leaves safely.
Security is simple enough already. Static bubbles are like a lazy mann's hictor, " i wanna keep it bubbled but im too lazy to spend a hictor manpower to do it". |

but its funny when you anchor enough to encompase a pos from 70km from the force field, leaving 1 space open that you can only warp through from a bookmark. pos is deathstared and this is where you keep your titan :P, sorry some wacky idea i came up with. Bubbles are fine, for the most part; the only change that should really be considered is whether or not they decay (similar to cans). Ransoms are accepted in Isk, Ships, Mods, and Dolls. |

Nooooo.
Don't let them decay, then Id lose my pet bubble. I found it while warping through a system. I kept seeing it flash on my overview as I warped between planets. After a while of seeing it, I spent a night bookmarking mid warp and d-scanning, and finally MWDing for about 10 minutes until I found it. Now I warp to it once in a while and visit. Its my pet, and I don't want anything to happen to it. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

There should be two changes made to bubbles:
Increase the cost of a bubble, they are way too cheap. Change the mechanics, so that killing a bubble generates a killmail just like any other anchored structure.
If bubbles were 25M, 50M, 100M, groups that care about killboard stats would be less inclined to leave them sitting around. |

What an absolute pile of ****. Eve is a game about choices and consequences. Anchored bubbles detract from that principle by removing choice and creating disproportionate risks/consequence.
I don't care if you're afk mining. If you want to mine your presence in space should be just as vulnerable as mine. Bubbles should benremoved to actually force consolidation of defences to some kind of front line. As of this writing ive been able to fly from caldari highsec to guristas space and back 4 times through goon and other sov space without encountering any kind of defence force. There is no border control. Allowing anchored bubbles to remain won't change that but they do allow one person to do the work of 10 by slowing down traffic and critically by allowing one person to disproportionately influence entire fleets.
Anchored bubbles are a relic of a bygone era and should be.removed from the game just like mines before them Read my thread here for my thoughts on eve economy https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=263968&find=unread --- Mining in game, from the perspective of an IRL miner. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3503687&#post3503687 ----á for FW rebalance in 2013 |

I have a mausoleum of anchored cans someplace in empire I tend to every 30 days that exists in the center of a planet
In all seriousness though, Bubbles are annoying and making them more cost-prohibitive would be the best way to nerf them I Endorse this Product and/or Service EVE Online Battle Recorder When I press F1 I get ISK |

No, no, no, no and no. Anchorable bubbles make this game better and more interesting regardless of which side of them you're on. They're part of the nullsec landscape and should stay; end of story. |
