Is there a way to turn off Margin Trading.. and make full deposits to escrow ?
I accidentally trained it on one minor trading character and it came on a character I bought.
It is driving me nuts as I need to keep a couple billion in my active wallet to cover the purchases as my purchases are focused and I want to buy them all.
I've played the game long enough to know that I don't want more than a few hundred million in my active account... one slip of the "enter" key. after putting quantity in price field or clicking purchase on something with 3 extra digits can lead to a huge loss... that I protect myself of by keeping my balances low enough to reduce "worst case" scenario .
Splitting stacks on the sell side can also be advisable.. but it is easier to be aware a huge risk when you're putting a billion isk stack of something for sale.
The worst losses are often when you're dealing with something fairly inexpensive.
I can't "unlearn" a skill. Is there any interface feature I am missing to place the full amount to cover into escrow manually? |

Nope.
As for the situation you describe ... yes it is very stupid design choice by CCP. Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.-á-á- William Pitt |

Thanks.. I guess I'll experiment with buy orders for separate corporate wallets. Most of my traders belong to small "privately owned" corporations. Fragment buy orders iby wallet division? would that work. (a bit unnecessarily tedious even if it did)
I'm not sure I'd like to see developer resources put into it. ... I wonder If I could just petition politely to have the skill marked to "unlearned" or "level 0" for the two characters involved. Do front-line GMs have some easy keys to click to reduce skill level to 0 if policy permitted it? |

Honestly, I don't know. I suspect not, if they started doing such a thing, they'd be flooded with defender missle requests. Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.-á-á- William Pitt |

Open up the orders section of the wallet and read how much you need to have there to cover all outstanding orders. Put that much in your wallet and pretend it's not there. Increase with every new order. |

No thanks... I know it happens.. I sell plenty of 500 million plus mods that are supposed to sell for 500 thousand
I don't like being on the giving end of it after getting burned that way myself.
I did buy a 100 million isk clone the other day when all I needed was one that cost 7 million or something... ..thankfully the most expensive clone wasn't 1 billion isk. |

Yeah, I don't want them to waste resources if it it would be more than 5 minutes effort for a few dozen people a week or something.
I guess I'll need to try to get "unlearn skill" put on future "little things" lists.
I think Margin trading is broken in many more ways and any request for something more adjustable would be part of a larger reworking....
So glad I didn't train it on my real station traders.. phewwwww... the hours I spend on standing would have all gone to waste...
LOL damn .. I wasn't supposed to train Defender Missles? what is going to happen.... normal missles will act like defender missiles and get me concorded or something?javascript:if (typeof posting=='undefined'||posting!=true) {posting=true;__doPostBack('forum$ctl00$PostReply','');} |

Tab is your friend before updating an order to avoid fat finger errors :)
Margin trading is rarely a problem, unless you are waiting til all your buy orders fill before you have any active sells, in which case I can see that it would be problematic |

I can't "unlearn" a skill. Is there any interface feature I am missing to place the full amount to cover into escrow manually? Put the buy order up for more than you needsd the amount in escrow is the total amount you want to buy. So if you are buying 100 items at 10m, and have a 50% escrow, you'd need to put a buy order up for 200 units at 10m. Of course, you'll pay more in brokers fees.
Or you know, you could just put up with it, it's not the end of the world.

1. Undock. 2. Get your friend to pop your pod. 3. Die. 4. Wake up in clone.
Repeat exact steps until Margin Trading is gone.
Thats a real method, and the only one 100% works. Troll for hire. Cheap prices. |

You should also fraps this process and submit the video to CCP to illustrate how important a skill removal feature is to you! |

haha ... yes I am a person that explores all the options ... no matter how remotely feasable, and I did consider that one. As I only have it up to level 2, well wiping out 10 million sp on the alts that I train to trade and fly transport ships and bombers with torpedos... not quite quite worth it.
If I were going to be anal about it, I guess I'd sell the two characters with "the problem skill" and purchase others... .....
I'll just be careful and have my very slight ocd tendencies and my laziness(even a moments extra thought when I'd prefer to be thinking of something else while trading without active attention) slightly irritated for the 10 minutes once every three days that I log onto those characters.
It is hardly any crisis and I'm not getting "emo" about it... .. sometimes there is something you don't know though and it is good to ask.
.... RE tab - Yes.. very important concept for "young" traders who might not have stumbled on it. Commas appear at millions and billion marks once the trade imput screen loses focus. I prefer using the mouse to click another window to lose focus. If I hit a key, the way my mind wanders I might hit "enter".. one hot key starts being like another conceptually for me while on autopilot. Sticking to the mouse for the whole process is easier (do need to use keys to change the price though...not hot keys)
Yeah... I should HTFU lol.. but my goal is having a soft cushy chair to execute my trade empire from ! |

To avoid worst case losses, create an alt and a corp for that alt. Split corp financial divisions. Use that alt to buy and sell, always buying and selling from a corporate trading account.

It would be nice with a toggle, on the Buy Order window, to use or not use Margin Trading for that particular order. I'd use mine all the time, but I can see the utility for other types of players, other playstyles, to be able to disable it. And then later change their mind and resume using it again. |
