Hello, I have looked quickly on here but didn't see what I was looking for. As a new player I find the hardest thing about the game is the skills training and knowing what to train. It seems there are hundreds of skills out there and just as many opinions. Just as I thought I was getting used to things CCP change stuff around. Soooo. My question is....
Where can I find an up to date list of all the skill groups with all there skill listed within and what that skill does.
Is there such a thing that has every skill listed in it such as a spreadsheet style or web page style?
Thanx Are you sure about that? |

What most people do is, download a program called Evemon. You can find a link for it in this forum section.
It will let you make different skill plans for ships, careers, weapons class, etc. Make as many lists as you like and see what skills overlap from one list to another. Or, link a ship and specialize in every skill related to that ship Or, mining and manufacturing etc. etc. |

Thanx for the quick reply, unfortunately it's not what I'm looking for. I have Evemon and EFT. I have built a plan with them. For example I put a drake plan together. And now I fly a drake. The problem is it didn't show me skills like missile bombardment, long range targeting and signature analysis. All of which I found by chance when someone mentioned them. There must be more useful skills I don't know about. Suomi thought it would be handy to have a complete list with the skills in there new grouping and a description to browse.
Anything like that you know of?

You can do it in game.
Just change the option in the skill sheet to show all skills instead of only the ones you have trained. |

Or just go the market and look under the skills section with "show only available" unticked, that way it even shows you if you meet the requirements. |

EVEMon, open (or create) a plan, click on the Skill Browser tab. There are all the skills in the game, in their categories. Description of what the skill does is top-right, a button to show what the skill unlocks is just below that.

Check "Certificate Recommendations" on your ship info
off hand the caracal lists Active Shield Tanking, Cruiser Launcher Control & Core Competency all at basic
Missile Control is a requirement for [xyz] Launcher Control
those 4 certs will list all the skills that make that ship easier to fly when they are trained. |

An even better option to using the in-game certificates for skill planning: http://www.eve-skilltracker.com/info |

What I did was to go to EveMon, systematically go though every available skill and add them to my training shedule if they seemed important and manage them from there.
The thing to keep in mind here is not to get frustrated by the sheer numbers/lenght of training as well as setting priorities (no need to train everything to L 5 or even to L4 in the beginning). You are in for the long run so let it come naturally. Forum-unbanned since 2011.10.20.

If you have an iphone or android phone you can also use an app.
Neocom for iphone
Aura for android
With these you can check your skill queue and available skills at any time. They also let you set up a skill plan. Can also do things like check the market prices, check item info, save fittings, check wallet and more.
I use neocom and its great. It even removes skills from my skill plan as i learn them automatically. |

I just use the in-game interface, toggling the option to show all skillz, as opposed to only those skillz that I have injected into my character's skull. Granted, I've played a lot longer than you have, so it's less overwhelming now than it would have been six and a half years ago, but I still recommend you give it a try.
Most of what you want is in the logical categories, where you'd expect it to be, but even as a Caldari ship pilot, you should look in the Gunnery category (or whatever it's been renamed to) for those skillz that are called (or used to be called) Weapon Upgrades and Advanced Weapons upgrades. Becaue even though they are (or at least were) classified under Gunnery, they help with missile fitting too. |
