I hope players who get caught doing this will get a nice ban.

What you have to remember, this bug happens to people without there awareness it's happening.
Course Mr 80 miner 2's is another story.
But how many people have been banned for exploits in the past? ------------------------

Duplicating miners on chaos seems pretty stupid to me.

Yup, reproducable, all you need is patience. Hope they fix this prob soon (as well as the bigger issue with the server clus... oops now I'm saying too much ).
Aaaaaanyway, yea, CCP needs to fix this immediately, as this type of bug is a game-killer.

I thought that with unique numbers for all items it wasn't possible to duplicate as they couldn't exist at the same time once the duplication process was over... Aerrrgh.
CCP better ban people this time.

Hard to ban people without proof though.
If their logs lack the info to enable them to reimburse people for losses caused by certain bugs, they shouldn't be able to bust people for gains caused by the very same bugs. Or am I missing something here?
Looks to me like they need to run the server in full debug mode again...

Yeah, I think you're right... they can't see that stuff because it would mean going over huge amounts of data.

Stupid tards that can't play the way it was meant to play. Why, oh why, do people insist on finding loopholes to somehow get ahead without the hard work? Spelling corrections welcome, but don't expect me to edit my post. |

When this problem is finaly fixed, perhaps a detailed explanation of how this exploit was produced could be given to us, I'm extremely curious now!

wow now when i think about it... i was traveling at one time and few things happend... i wont say what but i thought it was just bad timing but some how i got double the ammo that was in my cargo...
since i wasnt even sure how much ammo i had put in... but i know that i wouldnt be holding that much as i would only take half that was enough of that portion....
so i think it was some kind of dupe but it only happend to ammo??
btw i have to say that it couldnt be produced again unless those things happend to happen again and what i did happend same exact timing...
i think i reported this but i lost track of bugs cause you dont even get a thank you or anything in return...
that name thing with a specific tac sheild... i had it reported like 6 patchs ago or who knows when... and nothing it was only few patchs back that they noticed it...
shows how worthless the bug reporting system really is... support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

maybe they pulled a blizzard (Diablo II) on us... it would be insane to think that in a MMO they would dare not have unique numbers or a fully 99.9% anti duping system/code
but we will see. support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

I'm guessing that each stack has one of these unique numbers and this duping process simply doubles the quantity of a stack... *sigh*

It doesn't double the pile quantity. You will end up with multiple stacks of the same quantity, however, since these stacks are split off the original one, each new stack gets a new unique ID.

I'd like to thank those that actually have bothered to make a bug report about this.
The number can sadly be counted on one hand....
I'll also like to 'calm the waters' by saying that this particular bug is not one you can sit and do all day long every 2 minutes and get filthy rich by. It's a 'tricky' one to make work.
On another note : Please please add logfiles to your BR's.... 99.9% of the reports are useless without a log.

Managed to do it too (completely by accident). Got about 100k plag out of it so although it was a nice bonus its hardly going to change my standing in the world!
Gonna file a bug report but a little unsure of how to reproduce. I've been looking for similar circumstances since but they haven't occured.
To everyone who is worried that this is gonna ruin the game Diablo style I wouldn't place too much concern on it. In 3 days of play I've seen this happen once. I hear someone HAS been able to reproduce it but I reckon there was alot of luck involved and that reproducing it again is even less likely.

This is the kind of bug that would merit a rollback if enough people used it. It's very sad but unless you can find EVERYONE that benifited from that exploit in one way or another (people sharing money together using the exploit), then we should have a rollback. I HATE rollbacks! I don't want one, but if people really used it to make TONS of cash, we have a MAJOR problem on our hands here, and simply patching the bug is NOT enough. DAMN! I hate exploiters!

Diaego: You deserve a big pat on the back, thats the first time we've really had that a reported bug has been reported and aknowledged that it is an issue and will be fixed.
If only more announcements were made like this, we could stop worrying about existing problems and get on with playing the game with the knowledge that what bugs us now won't be a problem for much longer :)
Anyhow, nice to here some feedback.
Cheers.

i'm pretty sure this is the same bug i reported months ago.
the gm that read my bug report asked if i could reproduce it and when i couldn't they said it was a phreak incident and told me there wasn't anything to worry about.
they didn't even take the items i gained away from me. it was kind of fun though seeing my merlin bust its cargo capacity. -------------------------------------------

Yeah, sounds like the bug I reported a few months ago. The GM told me to keep it under wraps, and that it was being looked into. But I've had it happen to me again (and I know the circumstances under which it manifests itself, although I can't reproduce it every time).
Let's just say that, if I had wanted to, I would probably have been able to pump out stacks of hundreds of thousands of Megacyte. I just decided that I didn't even want to know if I could or not. *sigh*
I can't wait until this bug is finally gone. Every time I find myself in 'that situation', it's hard to resist the temptation to see if 'the bug is still there'
Heh, I still have my duped stacks sitting around, I wanted to jettison them into space but I just couldn't get myself to do it :)

Wow this has happened to me twice and yeah I overloaded my cargo in an indy once on it. But I didn't report it cuz I just thought it was a freak accident ... didn't really gain much by it anyway.
Weird..
