General concensus (I believe) is that it is a stylized Nautilus.. It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.

The five parts may represent the presumed five original settlements on Matar, the peoples who would go on to become the Starkmanir, Nefantar, Krusual, Thukker, and Sebiestor Tribes (Brutor and Vherokior claiming to be descended from the Starkmanir).
Or it represents the five tribes that emerged from the Amarr subjugation: the Brutor, the Sebiestor, the Thukker, the Krusual, and the Vherokior (The Starkmanir being presumed destroyed and the Nefantar staying with the Amarr). Amarrad - Amarr language project |

These sound like the most plausible reasons and intention of the imagery. Another reason could be that the "tail" represents the 4 major landmasses of Matar and the main body represents the planet itself - Matar, the "Old Mother." Because as far as I know we don't know how old is this seal - was it created after Amarr occupation or has it always been the symbol of the Minmatar as a people, since their early space colonization days? |
