badass!
this is going to be kewl as hell. i have a nice corpi setup sentinnel which is going to get sick range, and a hyena with 30+km webs? i wonder what they will do with the kitsune? more powerful jammers? longer range?
and a long point gallente frig? ouch!
t2 frig gangs are going to get REALLY fun REALLY fast (more so than they are now).
i can remember several conversations complaining that the frigate fleets we OP because we drained their phoon dry or their redeemer and killed em. now, with recon range frigs...wow!
just wow! i thought i was excited about marauders...this is close to that excitement level or more. i love my maladiction and to know i can fly uninhibited through null sec and warp at 19.44 AU (2 rigs)? add that to the warp changes and itll be unstoppable. not a large cargo bay, but when the item absolutely has to get out and u dont have a cyno chain...this will be the next best thing. or...for flanking. yeah, flanking.
or scouting enemy poses and checking to see if your syphon is sucking out moon mins. oooo yeah. |

EAS as good as recons seems excessive to me at a fraction of the price and training time.
also webs and points on recons are overly bonused as they are and need a nerf really. Tech 3's need to be multi role ships not cruiser hulls with battleship tank and insane resists ABC's are clearly T2 in all but name AB's need a buff-á like a big mass reduction ... module tiercide FTW role based instead of tiers please. |

Well, at present they have the durability of wet tissue paper and are not particularly evasive, so unless they buff some aspect of their survivability, EAF still going to be a relatively niche class. |

when the balance of power is in your favor (your gate camp, your roam), then its going to be a killer ship. not so much for a solo pvp roam..=) |

I'm looking forward to the changes, although I'm a bit concerned about Interceptors sporting cyno's... seems like a bit too perfect a tool to circumvent the new one use cyno jammer... although the range on the cyno jammer might mitigate that to a degree. I suppose the size of the interceptor cargo bay will have some impact on that as well.
Of course, if your cargo bay is tiny on a ceptor, that will push people to bring more than just ceptors on a frigate roam... which is a good thing. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

i dunno if i would use a cyno on a ceptor. what do we do when we see cyno's? warp to them and pop em. thats a pricy cyno ship.
i was chatting the guys last night about the new cyno jammer. having a hic on stand by with a very fast inty would be ugly. when ever someone jumps in, they have to be out of warp range if the new jammer is in place. once we see the cyno go up, the inty burns away from the tower in the direction opposite of the cyno. once he gets 80k out, the hic warps to him and lights his bubble. the incoming cap fleet gets pulled off the pos and out to 80k (if caps are affected by bubbles like everyone else). now, you have a cap fleet sitting out of range for anything. they have to align, warp out, realign and come back in. if u have a scout on them, or a prober, you can keep moving the hic or dictor bubble to drag them off of the pos and away from you...lol
if it worked, it would be hilarious! oh wait...whats that? have bombers on stand by? yes, i love the way you think. since they just jumped in and havent had the chance to cap up, 40 bombers with void should really put a hurtin on some capital cap...and since we set this all up, we are fit for range and start picking them off (since they cant rep, cant warp, cant jump, cant anything). on that note, we could deploy a mobile bubble and trap all the caps. just rr the shyt out of it so they dont kill it and their caps are ours.. =) siege dreads hitting non-repping carriers and other dreads should make short work of em... |

EAFs look to be replacing recons for many purposes; combat recons will need a bit more tank to remain viable. |

EAS vs. Recon-
Pros: Faster. Smaller. Faster lock time. Cheaper.
Cons: Less EHP Less Mids for Ewar. Less Firepower.
It will work itself out just fine. |

Interdiction Nullfied Interceptors are a terrible idea:
These ships can already travel fairly safely through nullsec. Pop through a gate into a bubble? Power back to gate or burn out. This will get the inty safe 90% of the time. If that's not good enough, use a covops or use a Nullified t3. I see no reason to make inties nullified too.
Furthermore, this means that you can't warp your inties into that bubble prior to your fleet to get tackle, because they won't actually land in the bubble.
Finally, fleet inties are very fast, and generally setting up drag bubbles to catch them is one of the most common methods to kill them. This destroys that tactical option.

I love fighting in the Taranis, but I don't think giving it interdiction nullification will be all "that" much better.
Sure, you are no longer afraid of sabres cutting your roam short, but they aren't hard to deal with anyway (and are often good targets).
Really, this change just makes it so ill-prepared I-can't-deal-with-bubble morons can travel safely through nullsec! How is that a boon to the game?

You simply warp through bubbles, and now you get total range control over other frigates once you get tackle. Furthermore, an AB taranis is agile enough to sling most kiting ships into web range to boot! You raise many good points. My argument to your last one: Because nostalgia says yes. I love my Kitsune, it's a complete bastard of a ship. 78km range jams with another ~48km falloff and with a strength per jammer higher than the Scorpion. All moving at 3km/s
And that's before the changes... |

E-War ships as a whole have been broken for right at 4 years now. The nano nerf in 2009 did them in and they really haven't been a force since. They have a slew of problems and while it is easy to point them out, I don't relish whoever is in charge of fixing them. I've done a few 'Fix EAS!' threads in the past. So one last time....
Signature Size. The Kitsune comes in at a whopping 58m. To put that in perspective the Thrasher is only 56m and the Talwar is 60m. These ships were designed in the age where you could push 14km/s + in terms of speed. Those days are long since gone and they need a smaller footprint.
EHP. These are not cloaky as the Covert Recons are. They should as such have the T2 resists that the Combat Recons have. They do not.
Lock Range. EAS should match the lock range of their T1 hulls.
Capacitor. The Kitsune and Keres have two bonuses related to cap useage. The Sentinel and Hyena each have one bonus related to cap useage. If any role bonus jumped out for a ship class - a 25% cap recharge bonus does so here. Maybe a slightly larger capacitor on certain hulls as well.
Individual Bonuses. The Hyena still has a smaller version of the very old interceptor bonus that was abandoned in 2009. Why?!? It was abandoned because testing proved it was horribly ineffective.
I'm glad that a range increase for the ewar is being looked at. I hope other factors are as well. |

I'm glad that a range increase for the ewar is being looked at. I hope other factors are as well. not many in the game today could sum up the issues of EWAR frigs like you just did. frigs need frig sig radius. they need cap (which was addressed in the video along with lock speed/range). t2 resists are a must
down side to sig radius is, it has a very large electronic signature due to RF emissions. that needs to be accounted for. but, so do all the recons, the scorpion and all jamming ships. when that is looked at and taken into account, then i feel the sig radius could be adjusted. but yes, these guys were made during the nano age. even though we can get 20km dramiels and whatnot, the nano age is over. they need to be looked at.
i cant wait, i love these ships. |
